PAST TENSE: MOHICANSIn 1757 North American was a colony England ruled part of it while France ruled the other part. North American was a very wild country and the Indians knew it best.They were divided. Some tribes fought for the French and the other fought for the English. The leader of the English forces was General Webb. He received news from an Indian called Magua about general Montcalm, the commander of the French Army. Magua was an evil and traitor man. He was a Huron. They fought for the French. He was a Huron chief.General Webb told Major Heyward to take Magua and scout Colonel Munros daughters to Fort William Henry because they want to visit their father. Major Heyward loved to Alice Munro who was a very beautiful young woman, so that he would protect her with his life. She was worried and cried out. Cora Munro was a brave and a beautiful young woman.When they run through the forest they met with three men, they discovered that they were lost because Fort William was in the opposite direction and Magua run off into the forest.They decided to have a rest because it would soon be dark and it wasnt safe to travel through forest during the night. They hide behind the waterfall where there is a cave. They hoped that Hurons wouldnt find the entrance to the cave but they found them. After, they used a canoe in which they arrived on the opposite bank of the river. The Hurons had found their horsed so they travelled for many hours. But Hurons set up camp and cooked. Cora, Alice and Major Heyward ate their food under a tree while Magua and his companions ate under another. Magua wanted to speak to Cora. So he would have his revenge. She didnt agree and he said: you will all die. Magua hated Colonel Munro because Magua was a scout of your father army the last time. He got drunk, your father ordered the soldiers to beat him.Suddenly, he heard a gunshot Chingochgook and Uncas ran out of the trees. They jumped on the Urons who were surprised. They killed all the Urons and Magua run off into the forest.They looked for a place to rest for a night. After that he heard French and Indian voices.They thought that would better walk other side they would lose their scalps. Meanwhile Cora and Alice were so happy to be with their father again. However, the situation at the fort was very difficult. Fort William was surrounded by the French army and the Hurons. Many soldiers on both sides had been killed.Colonel Munro sent Hawk-eye to Fort Edward to ask general Webb about extra soldiers but General Webb couldnt send army soldiers after that Haw-eye was captured by the French and he sent a message to Colonel Munro.He wanted to meet him. They spoke each other General Montcalm offered peace he said you will leave the Fort with all your men, women and children and we will not attack you if you stay my army must destroy you. When the British were about a mile from the Fort, the Hurons run out of the forest shouting and yelling. They attacked the British and killed many of them. Magua caught Cora and Alice. He said:you will be my wifeThen three days later, the bodies of men, women and children were still lying on the ground. Colonel Munro, Major Heyward, Hawk-eye, Chingachgook and Uncas had survived. They looked at Cora and Alice Munro. They wanted to find them when it was dark so they had to camp for the night. They cooked some bear meat.Magua took the woman to the Huron village and the five men got in the canoe and the Mohicans started to paddle up the lake.They found a place to hide the canoe .Mayor Heyward painted his face like an Indian and Haw-eye gave him his coat. He would pretend to be a french. He could speak French.He found Alice and he took Alice to the Delaware village because they were friends of the Mohicans.The Delawares were Uncoscousins.They would help us. In Delaware village they were guests so Magua had to speak to their wise man.Magua brought Cora there. He asked for your father help and Delawares kept their word.Magua took Cora towards the Huron village. In consequently, Uncas and Delaware fought bravely and they were pushing the Hurons back towards the village.Magua and Uncos fought like wild animals. When the other Huron saw that he stabbed Cora and she fell dead. Magua had a knife and he stabbed Uncos then he ran to the top of the mountain when Haw-eye fired. The following day, they buried Uncos and Cora. The Delaware gave Uncos a royal buried as he was the grandson of a great chief.Unco was a handsome young warrior. He was the son of Chingachgook who is the son of Unamis, the great Mohican Delaware chief. He fought for no-one. He helped woman and Haw-eye was like a brother to him.
