Pastor Timothy Hinkle

The word “praise” is used 259 times in the King James Version of the Bible. Let’s take a closer look at some of these instances as well as their root words in the original languages.

Genesis 29:35 35And she conceived again, and bare a son:

and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.

דהyadah (yaw-daw‘)

A primitive root; used only as denominative from H3027; literally to use (that is, hold out) the hand; physically to throw (a stone, an arrow) at or away; especially to revere or worship (with extended hands); intensively to bemoan (by wringing the hands): - cast (out), (make) confess (-ion), praise, shoot, (give) thank (-ful, -s, -sgiving).

Leviticus 19:24 24But in the fourth year all the fruit

thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD withal.

>ל >ו הלhillulhil-lool'From H1984 (in the sense of rejoicing);

a celebration of thanksgiving for harvest: - merry, praise.

Deuteronomy 10:21 21He is thy praise, and he is thy God,

that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

>ה ת>הלtehillahteh-hil-law'From H1984; laudation; specifically

(concretely) a hymn: - praise.

Judges 5:2 2Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of

Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

ב>רךbarakbaw-rak'A primitive root; to kneel; by implication to

bless God (as an act of adoration), and (vice-versa) man (as a benefit); also (by euphemism) to curse (God or the king, as treason): - praise abundantly, praise altogether, praise at all, blaspheme, bless, congratulate, curse, praise greatly, praise indeed, kneel (down), praise, salute, praise still, thank.

1 Chronicles 16:44And he appointed certain of the Levites to

minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:

הללhalalhaw-lal'A primitive root; to be clear (originally of

sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show; to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causatively to celebrate; also to stultify: - (make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool (-ish, -ly), glory, give [light], be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, [sing, be worthy of] praise, rage, renowned, shine.

We are told time and time again to PRAISE the Lord. We are to PRAISE Him with our entire being—holding NOTHING back!

We should continually praise the Lord, but we are also continued to “pray without ceasing”. Is that an overstatement or an exaggeration? NO! It is to be taken literally. Prayer is our connection to our God!

Romans 1:9For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers,

1 Thessalonians 5:17pray without ceasing,

2 Timothy 1:3[ Timothy’s Faith and Heritage ] I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day,

Matthew 27:5151 Then, behold, the veil of the temple

was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,

Hebrews 4:1616 Let us therefore come boldly to the

throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Revelation 12:11 11And they overcame him by the blood

of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

We need to “Get It”—that Jesus DIED so that we could overcome by having fellowship with God! He restored our relationship to God by His sacrafice! Prayer changes things!

Get it! Got it? GOOD!

Moses prayed and God did save a nation from death and the graveElijah prayed, a strong desire, God sent the rain and He sent the fire Elisha prayed with strong emotion, God gave him a mantel and a double portionHannah prayed—God gave her a son, a nation back to the Lord was won

Joshua prayed—the sun stood still; his enemies fell in vale and hillPeter prayed and Dorcus arose to life again from death repose If Christians would pray as in days of yore all the world would converted be and lives to Him would He restore!

We are to pray UNTIL something happens!

The church has become too complacent and lazy when it comes to their prayer life.

We need to pray FERVENTLYJames 5:16 16…. The effectual fervent prayer of

a righteous man availeth much. Don’t Give Up!

Daniel 10:1-131In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.2In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.3I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

4And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel; 5Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: 6His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

7And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.8Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.9Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.

10And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.11And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.12Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

13But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

Daniel prayed UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENED!

We need to Praise & Pray Until Something Happens!!!
