Yet, we celebrate and receive with joy the source and summit of our faith, the Lord Jesus Christ. We commemorate today in one feast day what we had been celebrating over the entire fifty days of the Easter season, beginning with Holy Thursday, that is, Lord Jesus giving himself for the salvation of the world: “this is my body, given up for you. This is my blood poured out for you.” We fulfill his command and make real his divine presence at every Mass “Do this in memory of me.” We abide in and receive holy communion, holy union, with the savior of the world. As Jesus said in the Gospel according to John, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in that person…” The power of this gift of Jesus himself, the grace of this sacrament of communion, is food for our life’s journey, nourishment for our souls, and strength for our lives. The ancient Sequence for today’s Mass proclaims “This the truth each Christian learns, Bread into his flesh he turns, to his precious blood the wine: Sight has failed, nor thought conceives, but a dauntless faith believes, resting on a power divine. Here beneath these signs are hidden priceless things to sense forbidden; signs, not things are all we see: blood is poured and flesh is broken, yet in either wondrous token Christ entire we know to be.” “In our celebration of the divine gift of the Body and Blood of Christ we pray, “For at the Last supper with his Apostles, establishing for the ages to come the saving memorial of the Cross, Jesus offered himself to you, heavenly Father, as the unblemished Lamb, the acceptable gift of perfect praise. Nourishing your faithful by this sacred mystery, you make them holy, so that the human race, bounded by one world, may be enlightened by one faith and united by one bond of charity. And so, we approach the table of this wondrous sacrament, so that, bathed in the sweetness of your grace, we may pass over to the heavenly realities here foreshadowed.” Fr. Ron

SOLEMNITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
“Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them and they all drank from it.” (MARK 14:23)
Jesus, the perfect steward, gave thanks, just before He gave Himself to us completely for our salvation. He offers us the chance to drink from His cup. In the Eucharist, we meet Christ personally and, if we listen to Him, we know what drinking from His cup means our own sacrifice – giving up some of our time, talent and treasure to do His work on earth.

How about making a Cursillo weekend?
Cursillo or "short course in Christianity" is an uplifting and educational experience. Cursillo was brought from Spain to the United States in 1962. The weekend is facilitated by a team of laypeople and clergy who deliver organized talks and discussions. What the presenters add to the talks is the witness of their own lives, their struggles and triumphs in Christ. The weekend is full of laughter, prayer, great music, wonderful meals and so much more.
Our 2018 dates are: Men’s - June 14-17; Women’s October 25-28. Both weekends will be held at the Immaculate Conception Spiritual Renewal Center in Putnam, CT. For additional information, please contact Sue Leighton at 508-278-3155 or [email protected] OR contact: Joan Laracy at 774-239-2474 or [email protected].
Please remember in your prayers…

Did You Know? How Old Does a Child Need to Be
in Order to Stay Alone?
Don’t assume that when your child understands what you’re saying, he’s ready to walk out the door by himself. Besides the fact that many states have laws against leaving children of certain ages alone (for example, younger than 12), experts say children shouldn’t be left by themselves until they’re capable of fighting off an abductor or handling a crisis situation. Experts also say children do not have the mental maturity to cross busy streets by themselves until they’re about 10 or 12 years old. (Did you know that pedestrian injuries rank third in child fatalities, behind traffic accidents and drowning?) Finally, parents who are certain their young children would never walk away with a stranger will be shocked to learn that studies show they probably will. Stay alert and vigilant, even if you believe your child is aware of possible dangers from others. For particular help you may call: Judith Audette, Director of Office for Healing and Prevention at (508) 929-4363 Source: “Know the Rules . . . After-School Safety Tips for Children Who Are Home Alone,” www.missingkids.com.
