This guild is such a nice group to be involved with - hopefully my schedule will change in the fall and I can be there on a regular basis. In the meantime, I know that everyone enjoys having Stephanie run the show and elections will be held at the March meeting - one month earlier than usual because of the party-bus heading to Hamilton in April. We are so thrilled to present our own Karen Hansen and Mary Kay

Fosnacht. These two ladies are filled with talent, imagination, skill,

ideas and fun. They will be presenting their own works started at the

same workshop and ending up beautifully different. These two are so

very unassuming and humble about their talents - but

their work is imaginative, creative, and so interesting in detail......we

are lucky to have them in our guild, and even luckier they are willing to

share their knowledge and work with us.

We will have an exciting month with Jacquie Gering as our

Program Presenter. She is a HUGE influence in the Modern

Quilting World, and such a fantastic speaker! She brings

quilts from her new book, and I am sure each one has an in-

teresting story that is interwoven in her work.

Julie and Kristen wrap up their schedule with a presentation from Deanne Eisenman of Snuggles Quilts. This will be on wool applique and Deanne will give a trunk show of this very popular technique. You may want to be sure your phones are charged so you can take pictures!

March Boutique Report

This is it! The March guild meeting is the last regular guild meeting to pick up kits to make items for boutique! Don’t miss out – we will have kits to distribute for a few new products, including the eyeglass case and a child’s I-Spy toy (also known as a Find-It Game).

Let’s Get Busy

We need you in the Tooly Tool Easel Workshop! Sign up for March 9 Sit & Stitch and learn how to make this adorable desktop tool holder. Leta Richards will lead the work-shop. You make one from a kit for the boutique to sell, and you’ll have the pattern and pre-cut matboard to make your own. $10 workshop fee covers your pattern and mat-board cost.

March 23 Sit & Stitch: Please come to make a giant Mat-and-Ruler bag to sell at boutique. These are high-price items with the potential to earn us a lot of money! If you don’t want to make a bag, come and help us complete items for boutique.

Kits: We’ve worked hard to develop a product line that will appeal to our customers. Our goal is to sell out.

Please stick to the kits as much as possible, although we will consider other items on a case-by-case basis.

Lending and Borrowing

The Boutique Committee is shifting focus to our booth design and the logistics of selling our products. Here are some items we need to display our products beautifully. Please contact Lauren Bond (cell phone: 919-244-3485 – area code really is 919, or [email protected]) if you can help.

A skinny artificial Christmas tree (5-7’ tall, with lights, preferred) Large rectangular area rug in a muted design or color – 9’x12’. Light weight, easy-to-assemble shelving – either table top or full size

Small easy chair with stuffed upholstered arms One stylish metal multi-level étagère, at least 36” tall, something like this:

Boutique Reminders:

Stop by our Boutique Table before the guild meeting starts and during the break.

When you pick up a kit, please sign it out so we keep track of where the kits have gone.

When you drop off your completed projects, let us know so we can “check you off” the list.

Completed items are due May 2017! Thank you for your contin-ued support of the boutique! We have an exceptional guild and we are on our way to a boutique we will all be proud of!

Thank you one and all for your hard work on charity quilts this past month. Safe Home received twenty completed quilts. With the seven sent over in January, that gets our yearly count to twenty-seven. Not only that, twenty-five tops were turned in as well. That represents a lot of hard work by everyone, and I believe our sew day has to be considered a success.

Someone left two pieced strips on one of the ironing boards. One kind of block looks oriental, another tan and white stripes, and the third sort of a muddy purple. The length would indicate they go to a lap quilt. I'll be sure to have them with me at the March meeting so they can be claimed or you can contact me and I'll see that you get them.

KANSAS CITY REGIONAL QUILT FESTIVAL

The date is just around the corner, now is the time to sign up to help the Guild fulfill our share of the operations. We need volun-teers for Concierge, Registration, Judging, and general help. All those areas were explained at the February meeting and have specific duties. Lauren Bond will need help with the Boutique. too.

Take advantage of your Guild membership to purchase your 'ticket', commemorative pin, and T-shirt through the Guild at our meetings. They'll be delivered by the June meeting (or sooner) Then you will have the items before the Festival. Class and lec-ture registrations are made through the Festival web site. Please note: the Guild will pay $10 toward a member's registration fee if they work at least 2 shifts during the event!!!!

Plan ahead to avoid the crowded parking lot---car pool, Ubber, taxi, or better yet, get a room w/friends for the 3 days at the Sheraton; special Festival rate!

Refer to the Festival web site for more details about classes, lec-tures, vendors, exhibits, etc. More information will be shared at the upcoming Guild meetings. 4 months to go!!!!!

PDQ COMMITTEE (Projects done by Quilters) PDQ Process: A form (green sheet with PDQ at the top) is available at every meeting that can be filled out with information regarding your request for special projects assistance other than what is already on our monthly docket. Wilma Lamfers, [email protected] , Facilitator for PDQ,

Sit & Stitch Workshops Sit & Stitch meets most every 2nd & 4th Thursdays

of each month at Rose Estates, 127th & Antioch. Each Thursday there is either a workshop led by a

BVQG member or a time for members to come and sew on their own projects. Arrival time is 9:30

with workshops starting at 10 AM. Participants bring their lunch. BVQG members are always welcome to come even if they are not signed

up for a workshop. Sit & Stitch is a good way to get acquainted with other members. If you have questions concerning Sit & Stitch please contact Wilma Lamfers,

[email protected]

Leta Richards will be leading us in a Sit & Stitch workshop Thursday, March 9th - this workshop will be another way we can help the 2017 Bou-tique committee fill their booth for the festival. We'll be taking signups for the "Tooly Tool Holder Easel"at the March meeting. Leta Richards has received permission from the designer to sell

20 of these at the boutique. That means we would like to encourage at least that many to signup and participate in this workshop. The Easel that you make during the workshop will go to the boutique. All supplies will be furnished. You will go home with the pattern and mat board to make one for yourself. Workshop fee is $10. It will be "Mat & Ruler Bag" Sit & Stitch workshop on Thursday, March 23rd. Janette Shel-don will lead us in making her bag design. These bags were a hit at the last Festival. The quilted fabric will be furnished so all you need to do is come with your sewing machine, ro-tary supplies and normal sewing items. These bags will also be sold at the Festival. You will go home with the pattern and knowledge of how you can make one of these bags for you. We will be taking signups for this workshop at the March meeting. Workshop fee is $5.

We are on our way to "paying it forward" to Rose Estates. Several members

met at Rose Estates for the February 9th Sit

& Stitch workshop to construct chair caddies

and walker bags for the residents of Rose

Estates. We met again Thursday, February

23rd with the hope of getting many more

items made - we will present the articles to the staff at the end of the

month. Thanks to all who participated in this year's project

And here is something to look forward to - Joyce Edwards will be introducing the AccuQuilt GO Cutter at the Thursday, April 6th Sit & Stitch. If you have a GO this will be a wonderful opportunity to pick up some good tips and techniques to help you use your GO cut-ter most effectively. If you don't have a GO and are just interested in seeing how one is used, please plan to signup. If you have a GO please bring yours along with your dies - make sure everything is marked before coming. The project for above workshop, either for piecing or appliqué , will be available at the March meeting. Signups will begin at the March meeting. Pay your workshop fee of $10 and receive your supply list.

Meyer Lemon Cheesecake Bars

Brought to the guild meeting in January by Pam Gardner

for her birthday treats

Even though this is a Quilter’s Guild,

anytime you get a group of women together, you’re going to have some good cooks.

SO……... when you bring something for your birthday, or you just have a great recipe

to share, send it to me and I’ll publish it in the newsletter.

Ingredients:

Krusteaz Meyer Lemon Bars Mix

1 pouch complete crust

1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs

8 oz. (1cup) cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup + 2 tsps. sugar

4 eggs

1/2 tsp. vanilla

1 pouch Meyer lemon filling mix

1/3 cup water

Heat oven to 350F. Lightly grease 8X8X2 inch pan. Place complete crust mix and graham crack-er crumbs in medium bowl; stir with fork until well blended. Press crust mixture firmly into bottom of pan. Bake 8 minute. Place cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar in medium bowl. Using an elec-tric mixer, mix on low speed until smooth. Add 1 egg and vanilla. Continue to mix on low speed until smooth. Pour cream cheese mixture over hot curst. In another bowl, stir Meyer lemon filling mix, water, 3 eggs and 2 tsps. sugar together using a whisk until well blended. Pour Meyer lemon filling over cream cheese layer. Bake 35-40 minutes. Cool completely at room temperature. Refrigerate and cut into squares. Best served cold.

Send me your needs list and I will include them for the next 4 newsletters or until you ask to have your ad pulled, which

ever comes first. Send to [email protected] Please add BVQG to the subject line of your email.

Save your pop can tabs. I save them and donate them to
