Semester 1
In semester one of our Competency-Based Mastery Levelprogram, students are introduced to Anatomy andPhysiology and Musculoskeletal Anatomy which forms thecore expertise base for RMTs. In addition, students areintroduced to the palpation, manual and assessment skillsrequired for clinical practice and finally, to the subjects ofEthics and Professionalism and Communication whichsupport them in understanding and fulfilling theirprofessional role as regulated healthcare professionals inBritish Columbia.
Semester 2
In semester two, students continue to build on thefoundational knowledge they have acquired in Anatomyand Physiology one and deepen and develop thisknowledge by expanding it to include Pathology andNeurology. In semester two students also deepen andexpand their palpation and manual skills and areintroduced to therapeutic exercises. Additionally, insemester two students begin to integrate theory andpractice by beginning their internship in our professionalintern clinic where they provide relaxation orientedmassage therapy to the general public.
Semester 3
In semester three, students continue to build and advancetheir critical thinking and reasoning skills in order tosupport them in effective clinical management. Insemester three students are introduced to numerous softtissue complaints and conditions which RMTs typicallytreat. With increased knowledge and skill and theenhanced ability to integrate knowledge and skillsstudents in term three are provided with the opportunityto begin treating soft tissue pathologies in ourprofessional student intern clinic.
Semester 4
With the deepening and enhancement of clinical skills andcritical thinking abilities in semester four, students areready to treat more challenging orthopedic and systemicconditions utilizing advanced treatment techniquestypically utilized by registered massage therapists formanaging these conditions.
Semester 5
In semester five, students are introduced to severaladvanced techniques including Cranial Sacral andMyoFascial. They are also introduced in term five to thebusiness and practice management skills they will need tosupport them in building and operating successful massagetherapy practices as well as provided with a review of Ethicsand Professionalism and an in-depth and rigorousintroduction to Health Regulation which will support them insuccessfully completing the jurisprudence component oftheir provincial board exams. At the completion of semesterfive students are confidently prepared to undertake theCMTBC’s licensure examination for entry to practice.
In order to support our students in successfully completing theirprovincial board exams upon graduation from WCCMT, we offer ahealth science review course to support students in retaining andmaintaining currency in their knowledge in Health Science subjectareas.
Additionally, we also provide our students with the opportunity toundertake a mock board examination exercise in order to supportthem in preparation for their licensure examination.
WCCMT also provides treatments for special patient populationsincluding; MS, Prenatal, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson, Fibromyalgia.
WCCMT offers the most diverse and comprehensive outreach program inthe industry today. Developed in over 30 years of practice in BritishColumbia, WCCMT's sponsors and partners provide our students withthe opportunity to treat a wide variety of patient populations presentingwith diverse massage therapy pathologies and conditions.
Some of our outreaches include: BC Women’s Hospital, METROVancouver, Vancouver General Hospital, BCIT, Friends For Life, SouthGranville Senior Centre, Canuck’s Place, GF Strong, UBC Varsity
Length: 5 Semesters, each semester being 15 weeks in length 6 - 7 Hours in-class time per day Clinical Practicum Internship for Semesters 2-5

Language Proficiency Assessment Policy and Procedure for Students whose first language is not English
Transcripts from outside North America must be submitted for an ICES (International Credential Evaluation Service) Comprehensive Report
If English is not your first language and you have not completed school in North America, you will be required to fulfill our Language Assessment Proficiency Policy:
◦ Successfully undertake either the IELTS, TOEFL or Can Test
◦ Complete formal education in an approved English language school which offers a program of study equivalent to TOEFL such as Inlingua Vancouver
◦ 2 Years of full time study at a secondary or college level in a country where English is an official language or language of common usage
Minimum Requirements for English Language Testing
◦ International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Overall band score of 6.0 or higher (academic module) and no more than 2 years before the start of the program.
◦ Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Internet Based Test: An overall score of 25 in each element
Paper Based Test: A minimum score of 550
◦ Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (Can Test) - For Ontario Only
Minimum scores of 4.5 in listening, 4.5 in reading and 4.0 in writing
Anyone wishing to study must obtain a study permit prior to travelling to Canada
Must provide evidence that you have enrolled in, and been accepted to study at the college of your choice
Must demonstrate that you can support yourself while studying in Canada
Are not inadmissible to Canada
Intend to leave Canada upon completion of studies
