The Govt of India provides free diagnostic and treatment services to all TB patients. For every one lakh population there is one RNTCP (Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme) Designated Microscopy Centre (DMC), the following tests are done: Can TB be prevented?? Do not spend long periods of time in stuffy, enclosed rooms with anyone who has active TB until that person has been treated for at least 2 weeks Use protective measures like face masks If you live with someone who has active TB , help and encourage the person to follow treatment instructions There is a vaccine for TB known as BCG. However, it does not work in all cases and it is most effective in young children against more severe forms of TB.

How to improve my condition??

Have your medicines as per your prescription

Do not skip any dose Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday you

should come to RNTCP to collect your Medicine

Keep your administered tablet free strip and bring it to RNTCP during follow up

Follow your physicians’s advice to recover from TB

Tell any one in your home to make you remember regarding frequency of dosing

Make sure that your body fluids are dicolouring to red orange

If any discomfort develops consult your physician immediately

Have Isoniazide and Rifampicin before food.

Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables each day especially strawberries and custard apples

Consume whole grain foods each day. Consume 3 cups per day of fat free or low

fat milk or equivalent milk products Eat fibre rich fruits, vegitables and whole

grain as often as possible Eat a variety of protein rich foods, with

more fish, beans, peas, nuts and seeds Eat garlic (antibacterial property),Banana

(improve the immunity), Custard Apple, Drum Stick (anti-inflammatory property), orange and Walnut

Drink Green tea (at morning -antioxidant), pineapple juice, carrot juice to improve your immunity

Don't drink alcohol and avoid smoking Limit coffee and other caffeinated drinks Limit refined products, like sugar, white

breads, and white rice. Avoid high-fat, high-cholesterol red meat
