Since existence CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, Durg, an AICTE approved, NBA & NAAC accredited Engineering Institute affiliated to Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University, Bhilai is a Premier Center for Technical Education. Location :C.S.I.T is located on Balod Road Shivaji Nagar near Kolihapuri, P.O. Pisegaon, Durg and approximately 2 km away from the National Highway 6 (Howrah –Mumbai route) on which Durg –Bhilai twin cities are situated. The CSIT campus is 5.5 km. away from Durg Bus Terminal and approx 8 KM from Durg Railway Junction which is well connected to the major cities of India by Rail. Mana airport situated Raipur is about 40 Kms far from the college.

About the Department:The Department of Mechanical Engineering of CSIT has been functional since the inception of the Institute in year 1999.The department offers UG course with an intake of 90 and a PG course in Industrial Engineering and Management for the young aspirants with a sanctioned intake of 18. The department is recognized as research centre for Ph.D. aspirants by C.S.V.T.U. Bhilai and has been consistently enhancing its research and development activities. The Department is well equipped with all the best resources ensuring high quality education to the students. The Department derives its excellence from the team of highly qualified, experienced, sincere and dedicated teaching faculty members The Department is well recognized for its well equipped Laboratories and Workshops where students get good exposure to learn and understand the industrial practices, machines, project works and experimental works. The department is approved as research centre that will enhance research activities. The department has Renewable Energy Cell that has been involved in developing clean and green technologies for rural and urban masses at lower costs. The cell executes its research and development activities for dissemination of sustainable products based on Solar Energy.The Mechatronics Engineering Department was started in the year 2009 and CSIT is the only institute in the region to have this futuristic branch of Engineering. The Department has an intake of 45 .The Department has well equipped labs, software and the qualified and experienced faculties who provide the much needed exposure to the budding engineers.
