Cuddly Buggly

By Mrs. Cordova

It was a cold, gloomy winter night when the Cordova family found

themselves sitting in the living room watching a movie. Mom was thinking

about her tough day at school and how she was going to make it better the

next day instead of spending quality time with her four kids, Andrew, Keegan,

Katie, and Aaron.

At the beginning of the movie, Mom glanced over at Katie Rose. She

discovered that Katie Rose was curled up like a little ball, looking like she

had no friends in the world. So, Mom reached out her arm and invited Katie to

snuggle up with her. When Katie Rose started to glow like the sun, Mom said,

“There you go. You’re as snug as a bug in a rug.”

When the movie was half over, Mom looked over at Aaron. His eyes

were droopy and he looked as if his best friend had told him to move to the

moon. So, Mom reached out her arm and invited Aaron to snuggle up with her.

When Aaron started to glow like the sun, Mom said, “There you go. You’re as

snug as a bug in a rug.”

As the movie was coming to an end, Mom noticed that Andrew had sunk

into the couch. He looked as lonely and depressed that Mom wondered what

was wrong. So, Mom reached out her arm and invited Andrew to snuggle up

with her. When Andrew started to glow like the sun, Mom said, “There you go.

You’re as snug as a bug in a rug.”

When the movie was over, it was time for bed. Mom tucked each of her

kids into bed … first, Aaron; next, Katie; third Andrew; and finally, Keegan.

Keegan had appeared to be okay during the movie, but now seemed to be held

down by all the weight in the world. Mom curled up next to Keegan. Next

thing Mom knew, Katie, then Aaron, and finally Andrew joined them. They

were all as snug as a bug in a rug.

A Cold Ugly Night at Target

By Makenzie and Sam

One cold, ugly night in Target, Sam the Tiger and Makenzie the Cheetah were walking down aisle. They were as cold as snow.

Sam and Makenzie walked up and down Aisle One and noticed that a pencil cost $5.00. It would usually cost $2.00 … a $3.00 difference. They almost fainted. Sam and Makenzie looked at each other and said, “There you go … it costs an arm and a leg.”

Sam the Tiger and Makenzie the Cheetah went down Aisle Two. They saw that a sweatshirt was $30.00. That was about twice what a normal sweatshirt cost. “Is this a real store?” asked Makenzie. Sam and Makenzie looked at each other and said, “There you go … it costs an arm and a leg.”

Sam and Makenzie went to Aisle Three. It was the snack aisle. A pack of 12 juice boxes was $28.16. Sam and Makenzie went to the front of the store, looked at each other, and yelled, “There you go … it costs an arm and a leg!”

Sam the Tiger and Makenzie the Cheetah went to the Aisle Four in Target. A clock was $5.00. Now they did not have to say that cost an arm and a leg. They had finally found something they could afford.

A Lonely Night

By Anja and Jordan

One dark, dusky night Mr. Chums the chubby pig, wanted

somebody to play with rather than his boring non-moving family. So, he

started looking like an owl at dark, dusky, night for a friend.

First, Mr. Chums met a tiger in the jungle named Tigger that was

eating raw fish like a hungry bear. They started to play but then, they

heard something in the distance. Tigger fled like a deer being hunted and

said “See you later alligator.”

Next, Mr. Chums traveled to a giant mountain top as big as a

volcano hoping to see someone. BAHH! BAHH! Mr. Chums heard a big

fluffy mountain goat right around the edge. They started to play then, the

mountain goat heard the enormous, loud footprints of a scary fierce

dinosaur. The goat skedaddled away and said “See you later alligator.”

Last, Mr. Chums traveled like a sloth to a muddy wetland habitat.

Mr. Chums got into a mud puddle and looked like a dirty, muddy,

monster that walked like a zombie on fours. Mr. Chums saw some

muddy, dirty monsters that had lime green seaweed coming out their

backs like straws sticking out. Mr. Chums got brave enough to go and talk

to the monsters and they started to play. In a sudden flash, hard rain

started to crash the ground like an anchor sinking in the ocean. The

monsters melted like ice cream and said “See you later alligator.”

So, Mr. Chums couldn’t find anyone to play with and decided to go

home and take a nice, peaceful, nap. In the morning, Mr. Chums awoke

and got out of his comfortable bed and went outside. He saw something

in the ravine that was fluffy and pink. It was a baby unicorn! Mr. Chums

ran like a cheetah to go meet the baby unicorn. Mr. Chums and the pretty

unicorn played lots of games and Mr. Chums now had a friend to play

with. They lived happily ever after.

Back to the Old Drawing Board

By: Malie and Dane

Once upon a time on a warm dry day in the safari, there was a strong cheetah named Chad and a pretty giraffe named Janel who were getting ready for animal school.

First, that morning at animal school Chad and Janel took a difficult spelling test. They both failed so they said, “back to the old drawing board” and had to retake it. They were so mad.

Next, later that evening Janel invited Chad to dinner. Their dinner fell on the floor after Chad got up to go to the bathroom. So they said, “Back to the drawing board” and made dinner again.

Last, that night Janel at her house and Chad at his house were getting ready for bed and brushing their dirty teeth. But then…they both smelled a delicious cherry pie. They followed the smell and found it in the tall grass and ate it. Then they both said, “Oh great now we have to brush our teeth again. Back to the old drawing board.” Then they went back to their warm homes and brushed their teeth again.

The next day Chad and Janel both got 100% on their difficult test and made a delicious lunch. That night they both got lots of rest and never had a problem again. No longer did they have to say, “Back to the old drawing board”.

That Takes the Cake

By: Ella & Thomas

One spring day Billy the Buck and Darling the Doe

were getting ready for their day. They were going to

have a picnic during the school day. Darling had to pack

her lunch and Billy was making his lunch.

Darling was having trouble finding her picnic bow.

“Ahhh!” Darling screamed, “I can’t find my bow Billy!

What should I do? I’m as ugly as a wet dog!” Billy

replied, “Well that takes the cake.”

Next, Billy and Darling were having their lunch. “I

will be back.” Said Billy. “To do what ?” Darling asked.

I’m going to scare mean hunters.” When Billy came back

his food was gone. Darling said, that takes the cake.

Then, Billy and Darling had to go to school. The school

day was crazy. When they got home Mrs. called them and

told Billy and Darling to do their homework. They did

their hard homework, then went to bed. While they were

sleeping Bob snuck in and stole their homework.

Homework was as hard as beating up a bear. When they

woke up, Billy and Darling said, “That takes the cake.”

Mrs. was mad.

Finally, Billy and Darling found their food, bow, and

homework. “My bow !” Darling yelled. “Oh I missed you

bow!” “My FOOD!” Billy yelled. “Our homework!” “Now

we can move are buttons up to green!” They never had

such bad luck again.

Blood Boiling in the North Pole

By Jaron and Abby

Once upon a time there were a hot snow fox named Foxy and a cute, penguin named Waddles. They lived next to jolly old Saint Nicholas in their cozy igloo.

Foxy and Waddles came back to their house from Santa’s workshop and their fish were molded. They were mad at themselves because they left the fish out on the counter. Foxy and Waddles looked at each other and said, “That makes our blood boil.”

Then, Foxy and Waddles came back from fishing for new fish and their igloo was melted down to the ground. Then they got on the knees and started crying. Foxy and Waddles looked at each other and said, “That makes our blood boil.”

The next day they were coming home from the cold market. And right when they got home they saw a mean polar bear stealing their 1000 dollar worth of fish. Foxy and Waddles looked at each other and said, “That makes our blood boil.”

Finally, the alarm clock went off and Foxy and Waddles got out of their fluffy beds. They checked if their fish was molded. They also checked if their igloo was melted. Also they checked if their fish was stolen from a bear. Luckily it was all just a horrible dream.

Bobby and Sally’s Bad Day

By: Lauren and Lanna

One cool, beautiful morning, Bobby and Sally were

getting ready to go to the park. They couldn’t wait to play in

the warm, fresh air.

When they were finally at the terrific park, they asked

their mom, “Mom… can we PLEASE have an entertaining

friend come over to the park?” Their mother said, “NO!

You’re good right now!” Bobby and Sally said, “That makes

my blood boil!”

Ding! Ding! Ding!!! ICECREAM!!! Bobby and Sally

asked their dad, “Can we PLEASE have a dollar for some

delicious ice-cream? Their dad said, “NO! You don’t need

any ice-cream!” They said, “That makes my blood boil!”

Now Bobby and Sally wanted to go get their red, shiny

bikes. So they asked their parents if they could go get

them. Their parents said, “NO! You're fine without those

little things. The park has enough fun equipment!” Bobby

and Sally said, “That makes my blood boil!”

Bobby and Sally forgot about all the bad things that

made their blood boil and had fun playing. They went off to

the green swings. Then as they looked over, they saw their

best friend charging toward them. They played happily

together. They had a good rest of the day.

Jabber jaw had ants in his pants

By piper & trevor

In the deep, bright, blue ocean there were two

best friends named Jaber Jaw and John. It was

Jaber Jaw’s 50th

birthday and he was so excited.

He couldn’t stay still he was like a monkey.

Jaber Jaw went to see his colorful, awesome

decorations. He got so excited he tore down all the

decorations. He had ants in his pants!

John got so mad at Jaber Jaw for tearing down

the expensive decorations. He swam to his house

and threw a huge, mean to fit. While he was

throwing a fit he complained to Jaber Jaw that he

had ants in his pants!

Jaber Jaw started to feel bad. Then he picked up the

decorations. In the middle of picking up, John

came to help pick up the mess as well. John felt

sorry for leaving Jaber Jaw to pick up the mess even

though he had ants in his pants.

After picking up, Jaber Jaw and John made up and

were friends again. They started the party and

Jaber Jaw no longer had ants in his pants.

Raining Cold Day

By Ava and Camden

One rainy and sunny day in the rain forest, Pain Parrot,

Polly Parrot and Peety Parrot were planning a special fun play

day to get fresh air with friends.

First, Pain Parrot went to Polly’s and Peety’s house to play.

But when she got there, it was pouring as if Jesus was turning on

the sprinklers. Pain Parrot muttered, “It’s raining cats and dogs.”

Next, Polly, Peety, and Pain flew to their best friend Pain’s

house. All three were soaking wet. Pain decided that they would

play in her giant green backyard. When they got there, It was

pouring like buckets filled with water had fell upon their pretty

heads. The parrots all mumbled together and said, “It’s raining

cats and dogs.”

Then the talkative birds decided to go to the amazing bird

park. They finally got to the wonderful bird park. Right when

they flew into the colorful park, all of a sudden, the clouds turned

dark. Next thing they knew, they heard nothing and rain came

pouring down. They all shouted together, “It’s raining cats and

dogs.”

Finally, Peety, Polly, and Pain went to Peety’s and Polly’s

grandmother’s house. The friends flew and flew. And when they

got there, they dashed to the back yard. It was not pouring

buckets. The beautiful parrots cheered lightly for the gorgeous

day and never did they say, “It’s raining cats and dogs agian.”

Stripes and his Family

By Chloe and Zack

It all started like this. There was a bright orange tiger named

Stripes who lived with his family in the hot and exhausting jungle. He

wanted to exercise, hunt, and run to be just like his dad, so when his

fantastic parents died he would know how to live on his own.

First, Stripes practiced doing push-ups and sit-ups .Then, he pounced.

Mom came by, and saw Stripes, and said, “He’s just like his dad. The

acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

Next, Stripes ran around the bright green trees in the jungle to get

faster. Then mom came out, saw strips, and said “He’s just like his

intelligent dad. The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Then, Stripes saw a brown rabbit and ran after it. He pounced on it.

His mother came out and said, “He’s just like his dad. The acorn doesn’t

fall far from the tree.”

Finally, Stripes realized he was going to be just like his fantastic

dad. Whenever he did something, he did it just like his dad.

That’s A Load off My Mind

BY Luke and Mckanan

One warm summer day at a happy school, Trevor and Jordan were

preparing for a big important test. They were having a very good day

at school. They were worried about the upcoming test.

Trevor’s class was about to take the big test. Trevor was worried

that he would fail he did not want to fail. Then Luke goes up to Trevor

and said I will do your test for you. Trevor said that’s a load off my

mind.

Jordon had to run four miles in P.E. He was so scared that he

thought he would fail. He was as scared as a mouse getting chased

by a cat. Then Luke came up and said I will take your test for you.

Jordon said that’s a load off my mind.

After P.E., Jordan had to take a very difficult fraction test. If he did

not do well he would get a two in fractions. Jordan would half to study

more at home. He knew he was good at fractions. Mckanan said I will

take the test for you. Jordan said that’s a load off my mind.

It was almost the end of Trevor’s 3rd grade year. Today was the

MAP test. This test was the last big test of the year. If he did badly his

teacher next year would be furious. The test was two hours. He

wondered if he could sit through those boring hours. He would get in

trouble if he did not sit still. Then Luke came up to him and said, “I will

take the test for you, Trevor.”

Trevor said, “That is a load off of my mind!”

That’s the Way the Cookie Crumbles

By: Meredith and Dominick

One beautiful spring morning in the wet rainforest, Fred the Frog and Jumpy the Monkey had really bad things happen to them. It seemed as if everything bad in the world was drawn to them.

It started when Fred the Frog was playing with his friend Arnold the Mouse. As they were playing they saw something move from behind a big green tree. As quick as a flash a huge snake came out and ate up Arnold. CHOMP! The snake swiftly slithered away with Arnold in his stomach. “That’s the way the cookie crumbles” Fred said.

The next day, Fred was with his friend Jumpy the Monkey. They were trying to get to the other side of the huge rainforest. All of a sudden it started raining very hard. Fred and Jumpy were drenched. “That’s the way the cookie crumbles” they said.

The day after that, Jumpy was swinging from branch to branch. She was swinging so fast and quick that she didn’t notice there were no more branches in front of her. So she fell and hit the ground. CRACK! Jumpy had broken her arm. “That’s the way the cookie crumbles” she said.

Finally, Fred and Jumpy found a place where they couldn’t get eaten, break an arm, or get wet. They loved it so much and they never said, ”That’s the way the cookie crumbles,” ever again.

That’s the Way the Cookie Crumbles

By: Caleb and Kaedon

Once upon a time on a wet, shady day two hungry snakes named

Snappy and Slippery were looking for some tasty food in the forest.

They decided that they would split the food evenly.

Snappy and Slippery went to look for some food. They spotted a

juicy mouse. As soon as they were about to strike, a huge hawk

swooped down and took the big mouse. Snappy and Slippery said,

“That’s the way the cookie crumbles.”

Snappy and Slippery still didn’t give up. They saw a fat rabbit.

Snappy and Slippery got ready to attack. As soon as they were about

to take it, an orange coyote snatched it before Snappy and Slippery

could take it. Snappy and Slippery said, “That’s the way the cookie

crumbles.”

Snappy and Slippery were still looking for food. They found an

uncomfortable nest filled with one small egg, and it was night. As soon

as they could attack, an owl swooped down and took the tiny egg. They

were very angry. Snappy and Slippery said, “That’s the way the cookie

crumbles.”

Snappy and Slippery were about to give up when they saw 10

dead squirrels! They looked around for any other animals around. For

some reason there were no animals around. They split it five and five

evenly. They no longer said that’s the way the cookie crumbles and

filled their tummies with food.

The Acorn Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree

By: Demi and Colin

One beautiful spring morning, the farm animals were eating breakfast.

They were chit-chatting about weird stuff like animal food and how it’s sooo

good. They were laughing like a comedian came by. They were doing their

morning routine. Hunter the Horse was watching Daisy the Dog like always.

First, Daisy was running around like a puppy who had just joined the

world. She danced around until…Hugh? Sniff! Sniff! Spat! “Daisies in the

mud,” said Casey the Cow.” It’s alright, let her be. She’s having fun, and that’s

what you’re supposed to do when your younge,” said Hunter the Horse.” The

acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree,” said Casey the Cow.

Second, Daisy was skipping around like Dorthy from The Wizard of Oz.

She was walking around like a professional! Of course until she spies… hay!

Woof! Woof! “Daisies playing in the itchy hay again,” said Casey the Cow.

“Like I said before, let her have fun!” said Hunter the Horse. Daisy played in

the scratchy hay for AN HOUR!” The acorn doesn’t fall far from a tree,” said

Casey the Cow.

Finally, Daisy was walking around and spotted with a humongous

smile… her favorite thing… CHICKENS! “UH OH,” said Casey the Cow.

“Daisie’s chasing those tail feathers off those feathery chickens!” Like I said a

million times, and the last time…let her be! She’s having the time of her life,”

said Hunter the Horse. “The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree,” said Casey

the cow.

In the end, Hunter the Horse realized that Daisy the Dog did everything

he did when he was a young one and he chuckled. Hunter the horse said to

Daisy the dog: jump in the clear as crystal water, play in the green grass, and

mess with the big, spotted cows. No longer did Casey the Cow, that was as

sweet as candy, have to say “The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.” However.

she always had to say, “UH OH!”

The Dangerous Journey

By: Abby & Natalie

Once upon a time, there were two sea turtles

named Natalie and Abby. They set off on a dangerous

journey to find a sunny peaceful island to lay their

eggs.

First, Natalie and Abby were swimming until… a

terrifying shark came along and tried to bite Abby’s

shell. BUT Natalie bumped Abby down and right at

that very moment they said, “Thank your lucky

stars!”

Next, Natalie and Abby kept on swimming until

Natalie swam too close to a paper bag and almost got

stuck in it. BUT Abby dunked Natalie and they both

said, “Thank your lucky stars!”

Then, Natalie and Abby kept swimming on and, on

and, on until… a strange figure came around a rock

and had a net! So, Natalie and Abby swam down,

down, down and then hid in a seaweed patch… they

were stuck but they we were safe. So they said

thank your lucky stars!

Finally, after a long, long swim through the

dangerous events, they found an island with no

sharks, no trash, no strange figures … It was just a

lone, peaceful island to lay their eggs. From then on

they were as lucky as could be.

The Rough Football Game

By: Hunter & Andy

One sunny day AG-IV and Hunter Bowe were getting warmed up for a

harsh football game at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs were playing the

Seattle Seahawks. They were the best team in the league. AG-IV and Hunter

Bowe would have to be on the lookout for Richard Sherman and the rest of

the Seahalk defense shooting through the gaps.

After warm ups Bob the Ref called AG-IV, Hunter Bowe, Russell Wilson,

and Richard Sherman to flip the coin. Bob said to the players, “Play safe

today.” AG-IV and Hunter said to Russel and Richard, “Ok now, the ball is on

your court”. Russell and Richard called…HEADS! Bob called, “Heads, the

Seahawks elect to kick.” Hunter, AG-IV, Russell, and Richard shook hands

and walked off the field.

When the kickoff ended AG-IV and Hunter Bowe rushed on the field.

They called a Flag, HB Toss, and a Slant. It was 4th and 2 and the coach didn’t

know what to do. AG-IV looked at Hunter and said, “Ok now, the ball is in

your court.” Hunter said, “Post, let’s do a post”.

Towards the end of the game, it was 25-28, Seahawks in the lead. 0.05

seconds were left on the clock in the 4th quarter. If the Chiefs won, they

would clinch a playoff spot right next to the Colts. AG-IV and Hunter had to

make the hardest decision of the season. The decision was go for the

touchdown and win the game or go for a field goal and the game would be

tied. Hunter said to AG-IV, “Ok now, the ball is in your court.” AG-IV chose to

go for the tie. “Oh no,” said the reporters. Then the Chiefs surprised

everyone and ran the ball in for the win.

The next week Andrew Luck from the Colts walked up for the coin flip.

He said to AG-IV, “Ok now, the ball is in your court.” AG-IV said, “Heads we

elect to receive!” The kick was off and another football game was played.

The Best Things in Life are FREE!

By Mrs. Rice’s Writers Group

One day in the busy green jungle, two small best friends were

counting their jungle money. These pals were named Marcus Meer

Kat and Spider Monkey. They only had 2 glossy leaves and one shiny

rock – which equaled $2.01…which is NOT much jungle money.

Meerkat and Monkey saw Ella Elephant spending lots of HER

money on delicious leaf and peanut sandwiches. They had very little

money to spend… but Ella hugged the friends with her humongous

trunk and tossed them both a peanut. The small friends yelled, “The

best things in life are FREE!”

Next Meerkat and Monkey saw a ferocious, fist-pounding gorilla

spending all of his jungle money on colorful, juicy fruit. The nasty

gorilla growled and chased the friends away. When they were safe,

they laughed loudly and said, “The best things in life are FREE!”

Finally, King Leo Lion saw how Meerkat and Monkey had

escaped the bossy and bullying gorilla. The lion complimented the

friends for not interfering with the gorilla’s nasty business. The King

Lion gave the pals a huge pile of wildflowers. The friends told the lion

thank you, then sang out, “The best things in life are FREE!”

Leo the Lion was impressed that such little creatures could

escape a giant gorilla and be such positive friends. The king of the

jungle asked the monkey and the meerkat to come live with him at

the ROYAL WATERFALL! It would be no charge to them. The little

friends still had not money…but it did not matter because the best

things in life are FREE!!
