YouTube was the most frequently used sight to gather ideas and techniques from previous AS opening thriller sequences. Furthermore, YouTube was also used to watch tutorials to learn how to do certain techniques in the editing software. Also, the members who are editing used YouTube to research more about the editing software as a preparation for the production period. The Art of the Title Sequence was

used to research ideas from movies on how titles can be incorporated or added in the opening sequence. Not only does this site give examples of title sequences, it also gives examples of movie narratives, shots and editing techniques. There are a range of techniques and ideas for titles, narrative, shots and editing techniques in this site, some of which was considered in the planning stage.

The HD Flip camera was used to record individual’s comments about our planning and our narrative. These comments were used and applied in our final planning. Furthermore, we used the Flip camera to capture our story board to make an electronic version. We chose to use a Flip camera because it was portable, compact and most of all its so simple to upload on the MAC.

Final Cut Express was used to edit the final takes the of each scene. The advance tools that this software offers such as, colour correction, video effects, audio filtering, transitions and audio automation, helped our opening sequence project be as close as we can get it to the professional movies. Furthermore, the tools it offers made it so much easier to make precise edits such as cutting very small parts of the clip. With the use of a magnifying tool I was able to cut the clip more precisely.

GarageBand was used to create the sound track of our final media project. GarageBand had a lot of audio editing tools such as volume automation and virtual instruments. The music editor started creating tension through music with the use of audio automation. Also, the audio presets made it easier to create a a background music. However, the preset sounds were very limited.

The Canon GL2 HD was booked to be used for filming our final media project. It is capable of capturing HD clips, which made It so much easier to work with as the quality was so good that colour correction worked very well on the HD clips.

A Dolly was used during the filming of our final media project. This is so that our panning shots are smooth. The tripod sits on top of the Dolly and the legs of the tripod are securely locked with a locking mechanism.

A tripod was used during the filming of our final media product. This is used so that shacking motions are not visible in the shots; making the shots as still as possible.

LiveType was used during the production to create title sequences for the final media project. LiveType had specialised, advanced tools just for titles such as, title effects, fading tool, opacity and preset transitions. However, the fonts that are available are limited and was quite hard to find a suitable font for a thriller theme.

LiveType was used during the post production of our final media project. Final touches were applied. For instance, making sure that the titles come in smoothly and on the right time. Furthermore, every title was spell checked and was checked if the information was correct.

Final cut express was used in the post production to finalize the edit. Each clip was checked if it flowed in smoothly making sure there are no pauses during the tension build up. Furthermore, the music imported was also checked if it was syncronised with the film, specially where the antagonist is walkin. Lastly, a fade in was added at the beginning and a fade out was added at the start.

GarageBand was used in the post production of the final Restricted opening sequence. Firstly, the background music was checked for any delayed sound entry. Also, before exporting the final soundtrack the member checked if the metronome was on as it will affect the sound track. Lastly, a fade in and fade out was added at the beginning and end of the sound track to establish a beginning and an end.
