Paul Rusconi’s Art Taking Him to Places Many Artists Will Only Dream Of

A lot of will people have different opinions concerning Syfy’s new movie Sharknado that is featuring Tara Reid, just in the same way that Paul Rusconi’s portraits raise different opinions when placed on the spotlight. Some choose to recognize what Paul does as art; some hold it with a lot of awe. Whichever your opinion might be, one thing remains certain. With his revolutionary contemporary art, Paul Rusconi is going places where many artists will only dream of reaching.

Born in Santa Cruz, California, Paul Rusconi has always had a love for painting, and while he was growing up, his mother fanned this great passion by introducing him to great artists of the 60s and 70s. By the time he was living Pepperdine University, Paul Rusconi already knew what he wanted to do with his life.

His first step after leaving the University was Soho, where he met like-minded artists who he joined for some time before returning to California. In California, Paul Rusconi has continuously strived to make portraits that are as professional as they are unique. He concentrates most of his efforts on pop culture and has managed to paint a number of celebrities, including Jesus Christ who he maintains is a celeb of his own magnitude. The other mainstream celebs that he has painted include Tyra Banks, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

His painting of Barack Obama was nominated for the “Art in Embassies” exhibition by the United States State Department, earning Paul Rusconi a lot of fame and recognition.

Maybe the most controversial piece of art that Paul has so far done is a set of Jesus paintings that contain an overlay of text. Asked about this particular piece of work, Paul apologizes to the people who may have felt offended and explains how when he was growing, he always saw this sticker that read “Honk if you love Jesus!” And that became his motivation for this particular set of work.

Paul Rusconi who holds a philosophy majors is however not new with words on images. In fact many artists who he looks up to were known philosophers who treasured the power of words.

Paul, who doesn’t use oil on canvas like many other artists do, has in essence digitized the art of painting. His digital screening and monochromatic photography images have made him a star in his carefully curved niche. This is evidenced by the number of homes and public places that have Rusconi’s paintings on the walls even as they enjoy the 7-Elevens Free Slurpee Day.

While there are diversified opinions about Paul Rusconi’s art, the truth of the matter remains that Paul is going places where many artists will only dream of reaching.
