I. PHILOSOPHYAsfamilychildcareproviders,ourgoalistoprovideasafeandhappyplaceforchildrenwheretheycanlearnandgrowphysically,emotionally,intellectually,andsociallyattheirownpace.Webelievechildrenlearnthroughplayandbenefitfromastructuredyetflexibleschedule.Activitieswillbeofferedwhichstimulatesensorymotordevelopment,languagedevelopmentandsocialinteraction.Thedevelopmentofstrongself-esteemisalsoamajorgoal.Childrenwillbetaughttorespecteachother,adults,andproperty.
II. COMMUNICATIONCommunicationisveryimportanttous.Whenweacceptanewfamilyintoourbusiness,weliketobesurethatwecanshareopenlyanyconcernsorquestionsthatmayarise.Itisimportantthatthereisasimilarchildcarephilosophybetweenus.Wewelcomequestions,feedback,ordiscussionsofanykindthatareorientedtowardsapositiveoutcomeforthechild(ren).Sensitiveissueswillbediscussedinprivateoutsideofregularchildcarehourseitherbytelephoneorconference.Conferenceswillnotbescheduledasaroutinepartofyourchild'scare;however,shouldyouliketohaveaconference,youmayrequestoneatanytime.Youareencouragedtocallusatanytimebetweenthehoursof7:00am.-9:00pmIfyoucallduringtheday,pleasebeawarethatwemaybebusywiththechildrenandmaynotbeabletoanswerthephone.Ifyouleaveamessageonourvoicemail,wewillcallyoubackassoonaspossible.Thebesttimetocallduringthedayisduringourdailyquiettime.Welookforwardtoaterrificrelationshipwithyouandyourchild!
III. ENROLLMENTPROCEDURES
• Agesofadmissionarebirththrough12yearsofage.• Weattempttobeflexibleinourenrollmentpoliciestosuittheneedsofindividual
families.• Fulltimeregistrationsareacceptedsubjecttoavailabilityofspaceand
accommodations.Allnecessaryformsmustbecompletedandreturnedtousbeforewewillassumetheresponsibilityofcaringforyourchild.NOEXCEPTIONS!Youarerequiredtokeepusinformedofanychangeinaddresses,telephonenumbers,andotherpertinentinformationlistedonany/allofthebelowforms.Ifyouhaveanyquestionsregardingthecompletionoftheseforms,pleasefeelfreetoask.

NON-DISCRIMINATIONDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenteradmitschildrenofanyrace,religion,disability,color,nationalandethnicorigintoalltherights,privileges,programsandactivitiesmadeavailabletochildrenatthischildcare.Wedonotdiscriminateinanywaywithintheadministrationofoureducationalpolicies,enrollmentpolicies,financialplanoranyotheradministeredprogram.Amulti-cultural,anti-biasedcurriculumisoffered.
V. DAYSANDHOURSOFOPERATIONDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenterisopenMonday–Friday6:00amto5:30pm.Childcareisneverofferedonweekendsorholidays.Pleaserememberthatyourfeeisbasedonthehoursyoucontractfor,notthehoursthatDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenterisopen.Pleasedropyourchildoffontheagreedupontimeandpickupattheagreedupontime.Ifyouattimesrequireanearlierdrop-offoralatepick-up,youmustcallinadvancetoauthorizethis.Anextrafeewillbecharged.Latefee’swillalsobechargedforunauthorizedpick-upspastyouragreedupontimes.(SeeChildCareAgreement)Anychildthatisinourcareafter7:00pmwillfollowallguidelinesunderWAC388-155-150EveningandNighttimeCare.Duringsleephours,childrenwillhaveappropriatebeddingontheirassignedcot.Allnightwearandindividualtoiletryitemswillbeprovidedwithseparatedressingandsleepingareasarrangedforchildrenoversixyears.Childrenwillsleepinourfamilyroomwithanadultpresentatalltimesmaintainingstaff-childratios.Allotherregulationssetforthinourpolicyapply.
VI. HOLIDAYSANDCLOSURES
A. RELIGIOUS&NATIONALHOLIDAYSParent/guardianswhomighthaveobjectionstorecognitionofreligiousorotherholidays,suchasChristmas,Thanksgiving,Easter,orValentine’sDay,shouldsoindicatetotheDirectorsothatproperarrangementscanbemadetorespectyouandyourchild’swishes.

LATEFEESDuetopersonalfamilyrequirementsafterdailydaycarehours,wewillfollowalllatepickuppolicyguidelines.DashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenteropensat6:00amandclosesat5:30pm.Contractedcarebefore6:00amandafter5:30pmmaybepre-arrangedonanindividualbasis.Allchildrenmustbepickedupattheendoftheircontracteddailyscheduledtime.Ifyouarecontractedfora4:30pmpick-up,youwillbechargedlatefeesstartingat4:31pm.Itistheresponsibilityofparentstohaveyourchildpickedupontime.Planaccordingly.Ifyouknowofapossibleconflict,itisyourresponsibilitytonotifyusofthepotentiallatepickupand/orhaveanauthorizedalternatepersonpickupyourchild.Latefeeswillbebilledaccordinglyattheratesbelow*: 1–15minutespastpickuptime=$5.00perchildwithnotification 16–30minutespastpickuptime=$10.00(additional)perchildwithnotification*Ifyouneglecttonotifyusthatyouwillbelateyouwillbecharged$1.00perminute.

C. OTHERFEES

• TUITIONEXPRESSRETURNFEEYouareresponsibleforallchargeswemayincurfromourbankasaresultofreturnedtuitionthroughTuitionExpress.Childcarewillimmediatelybehalteduntilyoureimburseusforthereturnfeeandallexpensesthathaveincurred.Reimbursementwillbeincashonly.Futurepaymentswillberequiredtobemadeincash.
• COURTFEESShoulditbecomenecessarytogotocourtovernon-paymentoffeesowed,courtandattorneyfeeswillbeaddedtoyourbill.
D. TERMINATIONIfyoudecidetoremoveyourchildfromDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenter,werequireatwo-weekwrittennotice.Youarerequiredtopayforthesetwoweeks.Ifwedecidewecannolongerprovidecareforyourfamilywewillalsoprovideyouwithatwo-weekwrittennotice.Ifviolationsofthisagreementoccur,youmaybegivenimmediateterminationfromDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenter.Examplesofwhywewouldterminateyourchild’scareinclude(butarenotlimitedto):
• Failureofparent/guardiantopayfee• Failuretocompleteandsignanyrequiredforms• Lackofparental/guardiancooperation• Failureofchildtoadjustafterareasonableamountoftime• Ourinabilitytomeetthechild’sneedswithoutadditionalstaff• Grossmisconductonthepartoftheparent/guardianorchild
E. TRIALPERIODAllnewchildrenwillbecaredforona30-daytrialperiodbeginningonyourchild’sfirstactualdayofcare.Duringthattimetheparent/guardianorprovidermayterminatethechildcareagreementwith24hoursnotice.Afterthetrialperiod,atwo-weekwrittennoticeisrequiredbyeitherpartytoterminatetheagreement.Asareminder,yourregistrationfeeisnonrefundable.

F. TAXESWewillsupplyyouwithayear-endsummaryofallfeespaidduringtheyearfortaxpurposes.ThiswillbegiventoyouinJanuaryeachyearorwhenservicesareterminated.Youmayrequestastatementatanytime.
VIII. SIGNINGIN&OUTDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenterusesachildcaremanagementsoftware.Youwillberequiredtoprovideafourdigitsecuritycodeandwillsignin/outonthecomputer.Childrenwillnotbepermittedtosignthemselvesin/out.Ifyourchildleavesthefacilitytoattendschool,thenwe,withparent/guardianpermission,maysignyourchildin/out.TheStateofWashingtonprohibitsachildcareproviderfromreleasingchildrentoaparent/guardianoranyotherpersonwhoisclearlyundertheinfluenceofalcoholorotherdrugs.

X. INFANT/TODDLERNEEDS
A. TYPICALDAILYSCHEDULETheInfant/Toddlerschedulefollowsalongthesameguidelinesastheaboveschedulewiththeadditionofdiaperchangesandquiettime.Infantswilltakeamorningquiettime.
B. DIAPERSChangesarescheduledforevery1-1/2to2hourswiththeexceptionofquiettimeinwhichcaseeachchildwillbediaperedassoonasheorsheawakens.Inaddition,achildwillbechangedwhenneeded.Diaperchangingprocedureswillbefollowedaspostedinthechangingarea.Diapersareprovidedbytheparent/guardian.Ifatanytimediapersarenotprovided,wewillprovidediapersatarateof$1.00each.
C. TOILETTRAININGWhenyoufeelyourchildisreadyfortoilettraining,weaskthatyoubeginthisteachingathomeduringaweekendorvacation.Wewillfollowthroughandencourageyourchildwhileinourcare.Toilettrainingwillbedoneinarelaxedmannerwiththecooperationofthefamily.Werequirethatthechildmustshowsignsofreadiness.Pleasekeepinmindthattheactivitylevelherecandistractyourchildfromrespondingtoanurgetousethepotty,moresothanathome.Therefore,wewillcontinuetousepull-upsuntilyourchildcanandwillannouncethats(he)mustusethebathroom(notjustathome,buthere,aswell.)Pleaseprovide2-3extrachangeofclothing.Youcanleaveoutfitsinourcareandwewillrotateandwashthemhere.(Don’tforgetthesocks!)

XI. BEHAVIORMANAGEMENT&DISCIPLINEPOLICYWhenachildishavingadifficulttimefollowingdirectionsortreatingothersorequipmentwithrespect,developmentallyappropriateguidancetechniquesareused.Nocorporalpunishmentwillbeusedortolerated.Techniquesusedareasfollows:
• PositiveReinforcement:Thechildwillbeencouragedwhenhe/sheisdemonstratingacceptablebehavior.
• Redirection:Thechildisredirectedtoanotheractivityandgivenanopportunitytotryagainatanothertime.
• "When…Then"Statements:Astatementinwhichthechildisencouragedtoaccomplishsomethingbeforegoingontosomethingelse.Sample:“Whenyoufinishpickinguptheblocks,thenyoucangooutside.”
• "If…Then"Statements:Astatementinwhichthechildisencouragedtomakeapositivechoice.Sample:“Ifyoupickuptheblocks,thenyoucangototheDramaticPlayarea.”
• TakeABreak:Thechildisseparatedfromthegroupforachild-regulatedperiodoftime.Thistechniqueisusedonlywhenachildisexhibitingtempertantrumtypebehaviororhurtingself,others,orequipment.Whenthechildshowsthathe/sheisreadytodemonstrateacceptablebehavior,thechildisencouragedtojointherestofthegroupandtryagain.

A. WASHING/SANITIZINGInanefforttokeeptheparticipantsinourprogramhealthy,wetakeappropriatemeasurestoreduceillnessandkeepmaintaincleanliness.Everyweektoys,nappingcotsandfurniturearewashedwithantibacterialsoap,sanitizedwithadilutedbleachsolution,rinsedandairdried.Also,attheendofeachworkday,thefloorsareswept,vacuumedandmoppedasneeded.
B. LAUNDRYBibs,sheets,towelsarelaunderedaftereachuse.Werequirethataparenttakehometheirchildren’sblanketsandclotheseachweektolaunderthemandreturnthem.Wedonotdochildren’slaundry.Ifachildhassoiledaclothingitem,wewillplaceitinatiedplasticbagandplaceitinachild’scubbytobetakenhomethatday.
C. HANDWASHINGThemostcommon,effectiveandpreventivepracticetoavoidillnessesishandwashing.EverychildandadultintheprogramfollowsthehandwashingstepsasdirectedbythePublicHealthNurse.Wewashhandswhenenteringtheclassroom,beforeandafterpreparingbottlesorfood,beforeandaftereating,changingadiaper,administeringmedicine,aftertouchingbodilyfluidsorexcretionsandasneededthroughouttheday.Inbetweenhandwashing,weuseanalcoholbasedhandsanitizer.

C. VISITATIONSWehavean"opendoor"policy.Parent/guardianshavefreeaccessatalltimestoallareasusedbychildren.TheonlylimitationstothispolicyarecontainedinWashingtonStateLaw(WAC388-150-440)whichstates:
Duringfacilityoperatinghoursorwhilethechildisincare,onlythelicensee,employee,volunteer,oranauthorizedrepresentativeofagovernmentalagency,orparentshallhaveunsupervisedorregularaccesstothechildincare.
Wewillallowtheparent/guardianofthechildincareunsupervisedaccessonlytotheirchild.
D. NOSMOKINGPOLICYOurprogramisanon-smokingfacility.Ifyousmoke,werespectyourchoices;however,keepingthechildreninmind,weaskthatyoudonotsmokeinoraroundtheperimetersofthebusiness.Thankyou.
XXI. EMERGENCYANDDISASTERPREPAREDNESSPLAN

B. MEDICALEMERGENCIESIntheeventofaseriousmedicalemergency,wewilltakethefollowingactions:

CONFIDENTIALITYSTATEMENTDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenterrespectsyouandyourchild’sprivacy.Wewillnotshareordiscussyouorchild’sfamilyinformationtothirdparties.Theinformationyouprovidewithuswillbekeptstrictlyconfidential.Inaddition,childrenwillbereleasedonlytotheadultswhoareauthorizedontheenrollmentoremergencycontactform.Nochildwillbereleasedtoanyadultnotlistedontheregistrationformunlesscommunicationbetweenparentandtheprimarychildcareproviderhastakenplace.Ifthereisanunauthorizedpersononthepremiseswhosepresenceisprohibited,locallawenforcementwillbecontacted.Pleasenote,thatyouhaveaccesstoyourchild’sfileatalltimes.
