I. PHILOSOPHYAsfamilychildcareproviders,ourgoalistoprovideasafeandhappyplaceforchildrenwheretheycanlearnandgrowphysically,emotionally,intellectually,andsociallyattheirownpace.Webelievechildrenlearnthroughplayandbenefitfromastructuredyetflexibleschedule.Activitieswillbeofferedwhichstimulatesensorymotordevelopment,languagedevelopmentandsocialinteraction.Thedevelopmentofstrongself-esteemisalsoamajorgoal.Childrenwillbetaughttorespecteachother,adults,andproperty.

II. COMMUNICATIONCommunicationisveryimportanttous.Whenweacceptanewfamilyintoourbusiness,weliketobesurethatwecanshareopenlyanyconcernsorquestionsthatmayarise.Itisimportantthatthereisasimilarchildcarephilosophybetweenus.Wewelcomequestions,feedback,ordiscussionsofanykindthatareorientedtowardsapositiveoutcomeforthechild(ren).Sensitiveissueswillbediscussedinprivateoutsideofregularchildcarehourseitherbytelephoneorconference.Conferenceswillnotbescheduledasaroutinepartofyourchild'scare;however,shouldyouliketohaveaconference,youmayrequestoneatanytime.Youareencouragedtocallusatanytimebetweenthehoursof7:00am.-9:00pmIfyoucallduringtheday,pleasebeawarethatwemaybebusywiththechildrenandmaynotbeabletoanswerthephone.Ifyouleaveamessageonourvoicemail,wewillcallyoubackassoonaspossible.Thebesttimetocallduringthedayisduringourdailyquiettime.Welookforwardtoaterrificrelationshipwithyouandyourchild!

III. ENROLLMENTPROCEDURES

• Agesofadmissionarebirththrough12yearsofage.• Weattempttobeflexibleinourenrollmentpoliciestosuittheneedsofindividual

families.• Fulltimeregistrationsareacceptedsubjecttoavailabilityofspaceand

accommodations.Allnecessaryformsmustbecompletedandreturnedtousbeforewewillassumetheresponsibilityofcaringforyourchild.NOEXCEPTIONS!Youarerequiredtokeepusinformedofanychangeinaddresses,telephonenumbers,andotherpertinentinformationlistedonany/allofthebelowforms.Ifyouhaveanyquestionsregardingthecompletionoftheseforms,pleasefeelfreetoask.

V. DAYSANDHOURSOFOPERATIONDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenterisopenMonday–Friday6:00amto5:30pm.Childcareisneverofferedonweekendsorholidays.Pleaserememberthatyourfeeisbasedonthehoursyoucontractfor,notthehoursthatDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenterisopen.Pleasedropyourchildoffontheagreedupontimeandpickupattheagreedupontime.Ifyouattimesrequireanearlierdrop-offoralatepick-up,youmustcallinadvancetoauthorizethis.Anextrafeewillbecharged.Latefee’swillalsobechargedforunauthorizedpick-upspastyouragreedupontimes.(SeeChildCareAgreement)Anychildthatisinourcareafter7:00pmwillfollowallguidelinesunderWAC388-155-150EveningandNighttimeCare.Duringsleephours,childrenwillhaveappropriatebeddingontheirassignedcot.Allnightwearandindividualtoiletryitemswillbeprovidedwithseparatedressingandsleepingareasarrangedforchildrenoversixyears.Childrenwillsleepinourfamilyroomwithanadultpresentatalltimesmaintainingstaff-childratios.Allotherregulationssetforthinourpolicyapply.

VI. HOLIDAYSANDCLOSURES

A. RELIGIOUS&NATIONALHOLIDAYSParent/guardianswhomighthaveobjectionstorecognitionofreligiousorotherholidays,suchasChristmas,Thanksgiving,Easter,orValentine’sDay,shouldsoindicatetotheDirectorsothatproperarrangementscanbemadetorespectyouandyourchild’swishes.

• TUITIONEXPRESSRETURNFEEYouareresponsibleforallchargeswemayincurfromourbankasaresultofreturnedtuitionthroughTuitionExpress.Childcarewillimmediatelybehalteduntilyoureimburseusforthereturnfeeandallexpensesthathaveincurred.Reimbursementwillbeincashonly.Futurepaymentswillberequiredtobemadeincash.

• COURTFEESShoulditbecomenecessarytogotocourtovernon-paymentoffeesowed,courtandattorneyfeeswillbeaddedtoyourbill.

D. TERMINATIONIfyoudecidetoremoveyourchildfromDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenter,werequireatwo-weekwrittennotice.Youarerequiredtopayforthesetwoweeks.Ifwedecidewecannolongerprovidecareforyourfamilywewillalsoprovideyouwithatwo-weekwrittennotice.Ifviolationsofthisagreementoccur,youmaybegivenimmediateterminationfromDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenter.Examplesofwhywewouldterminateyourchild’scareinclude(butarenotlimitedto):

• Failureofparent/guardiantopayfee• Failuretocompleteandsignanyrequiredforms• Lackofparental/guardiancooperation• Failureofchildtoadjustafterareasonableamountoftime• Ourinabilitytomeetthechild’sneedswithoutadditionalstaff• Grossmisconductonthepartoftheparent/guardianorchild

E. TRIALPERIODAllnewchildrenwillbecaredforona30-daytrialperiodbeginningonyourchild’sfirstactualdayofcare.Duringthattimetheparent/guardianorprovidermayterminatethechildcareagreementwith24hoursnotice.Afterthetrialperiod,atwo-weekwrittennoticeisrequiredbyeitherpartytoterminatetheagreement.Asareminder,yourregistrationfeeisnonrefundable.

VIII. SIGNINGIN&OUTDashPointHighlandsChildCareandLearningCenterusesachildcaremanagementsoftware.Youwillberequiredtoprovideafourdigitsecuritycodeandwillsignin/outonthecomputer.Childrenwillnotbepermittedtosignthemselvesin/out.Ifyourchildleavesthefacilitytoattendschool,thenwe,withparent/guardianpermission,maysignyourchildin/out.TheStateofWashingtonprohibitsachildcareproviderfromreleasingchildrentoaparent/guardianoranyotherpersonwhoisclearlyundertheinfluenceofalcoholorotherdrugs.

B. DIAPERSChangesarescheduledforevery1-1/2to2hourswiththeexceptionofquiettimeinwhichcaseeachchildwillbediaperedassoonasheorsheawakens.Inaddition,achildwillbechangedwhenneeded.Diaperchangingprocedureswillbefollowedaspostedinthechangingarea.Diapersareprovidedbytheparent/guardian.Ifatanytimediapersarenotprovided,wewillprovidediapersatarateof$1.00each.

C. TOILETTRAININGWhenyoufeelyourchildisreadyfortoilettraining,weaskthatyoubeginthisteachingathomeduringaweekendorvacation.Wewillfollowthroughandencourageyourchildwhileinourcare.Toilettrainingwillbedoneinarelaxedmannerwiththecooperationofthefamily.Werequirethatthechildmustshowsignsofreadiness.Pleasekeepinmindthattheactivitylevelherecandistractyourchildfromrespondingtoanurgetousethepotty,moresothanathome.Therefore,wewillcontinuetousepull-upsuntilyourchildcanandwillannouncethats(he)mustusethebathroom(notjustathome,buthere,aswell.)Pleaseprovide2-3extrachangeofclothing.Youcanleaveoutfitsinourcareandwewillrotateandwashthemhere.(Don’tforgetthesocks!)

XI. BEHAVIORMANAGEMENT&DISCIPLINEPOLICYWhenachildishavingadifficulttimefollowingdirectionsortreatingothersorequipmentwithrespect,developmentallyappropriateguidancetechniquesareused.Nocorporalpunishmentwillbeusedortolerated.Techniquesusedareasfollows:

• PositiveReinforcement:Thechildwillbeencouragedwhenhe/sheisdemonstratingacceptablebehavior.

WASHING/SANITIZINGInanefforttokeeptheparticipantsinourprogramhealthy,wetakeappropriatemeasurestoreduceillnessandkeepmaintaincleanliness.Everyweektoys,nappingcotsandfurniturearewashedwithantibacterialsoap,sanitizedwithadilutedbleachsolution,rinsedandairdried.Also,attheendofeachworkday,thefloorsareswept,vacuumedandmoppedasneeded.

B. LAUNDRYBibs,sheets,towelsarelaunderedaftereachuse.Werequirethataparenttakehometheirchildren’sblanketsandclotheseachweektolaunderthemandreturnthem.Wedonotdochildren’slaundry.Ifachildhassoiledaclothingitem,wewillplaceitinatiedplasticbagandplaceitinachild’scubbytobetakenhomethatday.

C. HANDWASHINGThemostcommon,effectiveandpreventivepracticetoavoidillnessesishandwashing.EverychildandadultintheprogramfollowsthehandwashingstepsasdirectedbythePublicHealthNurse.Wewashhandswhenenteringtheclassroom,beforeandafterpreparingbottlesorfood,beforeandaftereating,changingadiaper,administeringmedicine,aftertouchingbodilyfluidsorexcretionsandasneededthroughouttheday.Inbetweenhandwashing,weuseanalcoholbasedhandsanitizer.
