SUPERPOWER DOGS

The Fleet’s newest exhibition, Pause|Play, is an invitation for the young and the young-at-heart to leave the digital world behind, hit pause on their busy lives and recapture the nostalgia of play. Science has shown that play has a number of cognitive, social, emotional and physical benefits at any age—but we think it’s just downright fun!

Remember what it was like to be a kid as you explore the Fleet’s ode to the childhood playground. Speed down a 31-foot-long slide, get lost in a maze and go for spin on the merry-go-round. After you work up a sweat, take a dip in the “pool!”

Pause|Play takes your favorite childhood pastimes and brings them to a modern indoor space that has just one rule: NO ADULTING ALLOWED!

No stranger to superheroes himself, Chris Evans narrates this reBARKable film about the life-saving superpowers of some of the world’s bravest dogs. There’s Halo, an aspiring disaster response dog; Henry, an avalanche rescue dog; Reef, a water rescue dog for the Italian coast guard; Ricochet, an emotional support dog; and Tipper & Tony, bloodhound brothers that protect endangered species in Kenya. The science behind these dogs’ amazing superpowers will ensure that you never look at your best friend the same way again. Generously sponsored and presented locally by The Shiley Foundation.

MAY 1 Exploring Ethics: Experimental Social Science

Recently, social scientists have embraced experimental methods to study a variety of social, policy and political questions. This experimental revolution has created a new set of ethical problems and a backlash against social science experiments. We’ll examine the new issues and discuss the way social scientists are working to build new norms of research.
