The Texas Future Farm-ers of America President, Jason Edmondson of Bur-net, and the First Vice President, Brice Boyd of Hamilton, visited the Electra FFA chapter in mid-April.

The Texas FFA President and First Vice President comprise the Texas FFA Travel Team. A duo that visits more than 300 schools and travels more than 60,000 miles in the Texas FFA Ford truck through the year. They average 15 schools per week. While visiting the Electra chapter, marking as their final meet which totaled their schools vis-ited at 338, they deliv-ered their presentation to the agriculture and jour-nalism high school stu-dents.

Boyd took the lead as he introduced himself to the audience, quickly estab-

lishing himself as the co-median of the two. Ed-mondson stood out as the head speaker, explaining his and his partner's mis-sion to help educate many students about the fun of agriculture and the lifelong skills it had to offer.

The two opened with stating their “R.R.R.” mot-to. Reach New Roads to Relationships. The basis of this was to explore as much as one possibly could as well as help those along the way. This would help build strong and healthy relationships. Edmondson told the audi-ence that the best and quickest way to begin was within the communi-ty. From then on, the smalls steps would soon turn into full strides that would allow the individu-al to expand throughout their connections.

The state officers will conclude their year at the 88th Texas FFA conven-tion in Dallas on July 11th through the 15th, where an expected 12,000 mem-bers and guest will be in attendance.

The Texas FFA has evolved from an organi-zation focusing primarily on production agricul-ture, to a broader-based encompassing organiza-tion that addresses the needs and interests of students in urban and suburban schools in addi-tion to the rural commu-nities from which FFA rose in 1929. SENIOR SPOTLIGHT Interview with

Wesley Akers

Wesley Akers is a 2016 class

senior who is about to gradu-

ate from Electra High School.

After graduation Wesley

plans to use the Department

of Assistive and Rehabilita-

tive Services (DARS) ,a to

become an electrician. The

one thing he is most scared

about is that he will be a

freshman all over again in

college.

One of the things Wesley will

miss is that he would be leav-

ing the high school band, the

sports that he plays, and go-

ing into the real world, Wes-

ley has been in band since 5th

grade and has always en-

joyed it, all the trips and con-

tests he went to, all the

friends he met and his cur-

rent position as the Band

Den Mother. In sports he will

mainly miss the coaches and

running with the Cross

Country team and team-

mates. The one thing Wesley

won’t miss is the school

work for his classes.

Wesley also plans on having

a family of his own and chil-

dren that he can raise ….. a

role much like the Den Moth-

er he is in band class. Wesley

feels the Junior High stu-

dents seem to be the group

who needs the most disci-

pline. Wesley just might

change his mind about that

when he has junior high stu-

dents of his own! | Gabriel

The Family

Ten years ago, a politician’s

youngest son Adam Warren

was kidnapped and pre-

sumed dead. When suddenly

he makes a shocking return.

As Adam is welcomed back

by his family, suspicion start

to emerge about his true

identity, along with secrets,

heartache, and betrayal.

Adam’s mother, Claire War-ren, has found a way to use his disappearance and return as a way to fuel her political

aspirations for her run for governor, but struggles to keep her imploding family together as it falls apart. First Claire finds out Adam isn’t really Adam. Then her husband files for divorce. Then her daughter had sent out inappropriate text mes-sages from her father and detective Nina Meyer to a journalist and has been put out on public news.

Their neighbor Hank Asher is a suspect for Adams disap-pearance. As a registered sex offender, it is hard for him to get along with the family, because before Adam’s dis-appearance they used to play together before and after he went to school.

The man that really took

Adam is back in town and is

causing trouble with the

family and Adam, as one

time the police had tried to

catch him he later on es-

capes, but leaves evidence

for the police buy throwing

away his blue jacket and are

one step closer to catching

him and probably bringing

peace with the family and

Adam. | Gabriel Barrera
