Core Data ReportsUsing Office Discipline Referrals (ODRs) for decisionshymaking The Office Discipline Referral (ODR) is the common data source used for measuring progress in school climate Other outcome measures include school safetysurveys and academic success Schools will find the ODRs helpful in identifying the ldquohot spotsrdquo within a school small group or individual students who mayneed more intensive supports Therefore it is important for schools to establish data and decision systems that can produce data reports that are accurate validefficient and easily accessible to planning teams
It is easy to get overwhelmed with data and confused about which data are necessary SWshy PBIS teams should view data as a way to answer questions relevant toproblem solving and action planning
Focus on the following questions when looking at your dataWHO number of referrals per student and number of referrals per grade levelWHAT most frequent problem behavior typesWHERE location of problem behaviors WHEN time of day that problem behaviors are occurring WHY referrals by behavior motivationHOW often number of referrals per day and number of referrals per month
