Review need for being safe when leaving the school and for all students to follow procedures so everyone can be safe and parents/carers/buses know exactly where students are. Discuss and practise following procedure rewarding appropriate behaviours and reteaching if necessary.
1. Teachers walk their class to the front gates at 2:45pm
2. Teachers dismiss students according to how they get home.ie
Bikes,
Buses
Walking home to the west –go through office gate
Walking home east
Walking home over road via traffic lights,
Parent/carer pick up
Siblings of kinder students go to rooms
Parent/carer pickup is near bike racks. Kindergarten will wait in classroom for pick up. Students who are waiting for parents/carers need to sit on seats just outside the gates to be supervised by bus duty person.
PBL Matrix
***** Try to draw each positive action back to either Safe, Respectful or Learner (or even a combination of all 3). Your class rules should be a helpful starting place to help ‘connect the dots’ for students. Remember to include ALL classrooms in these behaviours (Library, RFF teachers, casual teachers, etc)************** Please remember when discussing behaviours, identify the negative behaviour through discussion (not role play) and STATE the opposite/positive/ desired behaviour verbally (and in writing for display and re-visit). If you choose to role play/practise PBL skills with children, ALWAYS only act out the POSITIVE expectation.

Discuss the positive consequences for staying in bounds and the negative consequences including teacher follow up (e.g. following duty teacher, missing play) and TIME OUT for repeated offences. In groups or as a class work through the A3 charts( attachment 2) brainstorming why it is important to follow expectations and also note what might happen if expectations are not followed. Studnets may be able to give examples of playground behaviours
Practise
Complete the charts and display in the classroom for future reference by teachers, casuals, students. Role play a scenario from the playground and ask the students to observe and decide the actions that are SAFE, RESPECTFUL and LEARNERS.
