PRAYERCALENDAR opening doors through prayer 4Q 10 DEAR FRIEND Prayer Journal Inside General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists 12501 Old Columbia Pike Silver Spring, MD 20904 T his could be a great week for more than 2,000 Global Mission pioneers. Imagine how much they could accomplish if all of their plans went perfectly! • Every appointment would be exactly on time. • At each home visit, the people would be there. • Shoes would hold up for long walks to hold Bible studies in the next village. • Bicycle tires would not go flat, motorcycles would be reliable, and buses would be on schedule. • Faulty car parts would last a little longer. • There would be electricity when it was needed, and there would be enough chairs or mats for everyone who came to the meeting. • There would be no worries about funding. For most of us, a perfect week doesn’t always happen. We have worries and concerns, and so do the Global Mission pioneers. Many are working in difficult areas. Some face dangerous situations, and some wonder whether their efforts to share Jesus are making any difference. And yet they continue to work, believing that this is what God has called them to do. Please pray for the health and safety of the Global Mission pioneers as they do their best to tell others about Jesus. Pray that they will be encouraged by the good counsel in Proverbs 16:3, which reads, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” It may not be a perfect week, but your prayers will certainly make a difference. This could be a great week for more than 2,000 Global Mission pioneers. Imagine

how much they could accomplish if all of their plans went perfectly!

• Every appointment would be exactly on time.

• At each home visit, the people would be there.

• Shoes would hold up for long walks to hold Bible studies in the next village.

• Bicycle tires would not go flat, motorcycles would be reliable, and buses would be

on schedule.

• Faulty car parts would last a little longer.

• There would be electricity when it was needed, and there would be enough chairs

or mats for everyone who came to the meeting.

• There would be no worries about funding.

For most of us, a perfect week doesn’t always happen. We have worries and

concerns, and so do the Global Mission pioneers. Many are working in difficult areas.

Some face dangerous situations, and some wonder whether their efforts to share Jesus

are making any difference. And yet they continue to work, believing that this is what

God has called them to do.

Please pray for the health and safety of the Global Mission pioneers as they do their

best to tell others about Jesus. Pray that they will be encouraged by the good counsel in

Proverbs 16:3, which reads, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will

succeed.”

It may not be a perfect week, but your prayers will certainly make a difference.

Thank you for your prayers and your ongoing support.

Teresa became a Christian eight years ago. However, she felt there was something missing from her faith. Then three years ago Dariusz Ziarkiewicz, an Adventist

literature evangelist, visited her home. She purchased several books from him including Patriarchs and Prophets and The Desire of Ages.

As Teresa read through these books questions started to pop up in her mind. She asked her priest, but as much as he tried he couldn’t come up with answers that satisfied Teresa. A year ago she met a Global Mission pioneer who had just moved to her village. The pioneer asked Teresa if she’d like to study the Bible with him. She readily agreed. As the pioneer carefully combed through the Bible with Teresa she found answers to all her questions.

Not long ago Teresa became the first person to baptized as part of a Global Mission church planting project in northern Poland. Please keep Poland in your prayers. There are many people still searching for a God to love here.

To help Global Mission church planting projects in Europe such as this one in Poland, please support Fund # 5270.

Global Mission pioneers are working throughout Africa to take the gospel of Christ to everyone that they meet. Their work is not always easy and they must trust God to lead them each day. Please pray for these pioneers

and other frontline Adventist workers who are telling the world about Christ.

Please pray for Global Mission work in 10/40 Window countries. This region of the world is a high-priority area for Global Mission. The 10/40 Window is home to many

of the world’s religions, largest cities, and two-thirds of the world’s population. Yet there are relatively few

Christians.

Europe today has the fewest Adventists per capita of any continent. The region’s challenges include post-

modern and secular countries such as Sweden and the United Kingdom and former Soviet bloc countries, such as Hungary and Poland. Nearly half of all Europeans are secular and practice no religion. Please keep this region

of the world in your prayers.

Elkana and his wife, Jeba-Kumari, were active members of a charismatic church in Chennai, India. Although they felt firm in their faith, they politely listened to

a group of local Adventist church members who knocked on their door one day. As a result of this encounter they started a weekly Bible study with one of the members. Step-by-step the church member took Elkana and Jeba-Kumari through the Bible.

In time they began attending weekly church services and were baptized into the Adven-tist Church. Elkana and Jeba-Kumari couldn’t keep their newfound faith to them-selves and told their family all about it. As a result some of their relatives began attending church with them.

The local pastor was so impressed that he invited Elkana and Jeba-Kumari to plant a church in their neighborhood. Within 10 months 28 people were attending their church.

They currently have no church building and must worship in a rented room. Elkana and Jeba-Kumari hope to secure a piece of land and build a church for their little congregation in the near future, knowing that when they do, their membership will grow even more. Please keep this couple in your prayers.

Meet Djenabu, a 14-year-old single mother from Guinea-Bissau. Her father, a religious man, has caused a lot of grief for her. He has threatened to kick her

out of the house and told her that she’s a disappointment to the family. She didn’t know where to turn for support.

Then Djenabu met Jesus at an evangelistic series held by Lucas Camargo de Oliveira in a movie theater near her home in Bissau, the capital of Guinea Bissau. Every night Djenabu and her mother, Aua, attended. At the conclusion of the meetings Pastor Lucas asked all those who wanted to make Christ the center of their lives and be baptized to come forward. Djenabu was scared that if she went forward her father would be even more disappointed with her, so she stayed in her chair. Aua, also scared of her husband’s reaction, decided not to join the Adventist Church. As the weeks went by after the meetings Djenabu’s desire to join the Adven-tist Church kept gnawing her. She finally decided that regardless of her father’s feelings she must become a Christian.

Today she’s a baptized member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her mother has yet to become an Adventist. Please pray for the many people, like Djenabu, in Guinea-Bissau who are struggling to overcome from family pressure to become Christians.
