2012 MID YEAR EXAMINATIONS Preparatory Course for GCE ‘O’ Level Examinations PCO, Year 1 Art This paper must be given to candidates two weeks before the commencement of the examination. Friday, 25 May 2012 2 hours 30 minutes 2:00pm - 4:30pm INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES: Write your name and class in your art book. Your art book will be the medium in which your work is done. Answer the question in the section. You must prepare 1 A3 preparatory board. The board will reflect your story, plan for the collage and reflection. This may be done before the examination, and brought into the examination hall. The board should NOT show your final collage. You must prepare your own images to be cut out, including your coloured background. The cut outs and background should be printed on A4 sheets. You CANNOT bring in prepared cut outs and backgrounds. These would be confiscated by the examiners. At the end of the examination, hand in the board and the art book. Make sure your art pack is returned and your area cleaned up of litter. Candidates must produce a collage on the title : “The City of Dreams1”. The collage should be done landscape, covering 2 pages of the art book.Your city should have a minimum of 15 cut outs, including a coloured background.You may use the skills learnt in Term 2 to present the City of Dreams. At the end of the examination, you must submit :

● 1 preparatory board - your board would show your story, plan for the collage, photo composition and reflection2

● 1 collage, consisting of precise and detailed cuts● 1 photo composition3 that captures the way you want the audience to appreciate your collage

1 The unit you completed in Term 2 is titled “The City of Dreams”. It is also the first collage you created. This examination reflects how you have developed against the first piece you did. 2 Your reflection should include- How you felt about your work- How you incorporated at least 3 design elements or principles- how you you would like your viewers to appreciate your work from the photo composition 3 A camera would be provided by the school. You are NOT allowed to use your handphone. 4 Suggested Time Management 2-210pm : Lay out your materials carefully. Put your preparatory board on one side of the table so that you can check against it occasionally. 210-330pm : Cut the images and background.330-340pm : Lay out the images in the book according to how you have planned it.340-350pm : Stick images into a final collage.350-410pm : Create the photo composition. You may take only 1 shot. Prepare the shot carefully.410-420pm : Write your reflection. Paste your reflection on the preparatory board.420-425pm : Hand in your preparatory board and art book.425-430pm : Clear up. Return the art pack. Ensure that all litter is cleared from your table.
