INTRODUCTIONORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR
Understanding organizational behaviour allows the managers to better manage employee manager
relations, improves job satisfaction, and stimulates innovation and
creativity thus guiding him into creating a dynamic working climate.
DEFINITION•According to Gary Johns, "Organizations are social inventions for accomplishing goals through group efforts".
•Organizational behaviour is concerned withpeople's thoughts, feelings, emotions andactions in setting up a work.
GOALS OF ORGANIZATIONALBEHAVIOUR
Describe Describe systematically how people behave under a variety of conditions.
Understand Understand why people behave as they do.
Predict The managers would have the capacity to predict which employees might be dedicated and productive or which ones might cause problems.
Control Managers need to be able to improve results through the actions they and their employees take, and organizational behaviour can aid them in their pursuit of this goal

FORCES OR ELEMENTS OFORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOURPeople: People make up the internal social system in the organization. They consist of individuals and groups.
Structure: Structure defines the formal relationship and use of people in the organization.
Technology: The technology imparts the physical and economic conditions within which people work.
Social System: The social system provides external environment within which the organization operates

•Scientific Management ApproachBy Frederick Winslow Taylor- his assumption was that employees are motivated largely by money ($).
•Bureaucratic ApproachBy Max Weber- bureaucratic form of structure that would work best for all organizations.
•Hawthorne StudiesWorkers are influenced by social factors andbehaviour of individual is determined by the group.
BASIC MODELS OFORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR
•The System ModelThe system model emerged because of a strong search for higher meaning at work by many of today’s employees; they want more than just a pay check and job security from their jobs.
• The Custodial ModelIf an organisation does not have the wealth to provide pensions and pay other benefits, it cannot follow a custodial approach.
• The Supportive Model The supportive model depends on leadership, instead of power or money.
• The Collegial Model The collegial model depends on management’s building a feeling of partnership with employees.
• The Autocratic ModelDepends on power which means that an employee must follow orders given or else they will be penalized.
