(Do not cover midline mark on bite fork.) 2. Hold Bite-Tab compound at lateral edges of strip. (Fold back adhesive strip on dotted line for easier removal of Bite-Tab strip from bite fork after use.) 1. Bend backing sheet sharply near printed end and peel off Bite-Tab compound strip by lifting printed end of strip. (Do not touch adhesive under compound end of tab.) 6. Shave excess compound away leaving about 1mm deep tooth or ridge imprints. 5. Have patient bite slowly into soft Bite-Tab com- pound to obtain maxillary and mandibular occlusal imprints about 1mm deep. (Avoid occlusal contacts with bite fork.) Remove bite fork and cool Bite-Tab compound with compressed air or cold water. 4. Hold bite fork in hot tap water (125°F / 40°C) for about one minute to soften Bite-Tab compound. ( Do not place bite fork in water-bath because wax residues and oils in bath prevent Bite-Tab adhesion to bite fork.) 9. To remove used tabs; dip bite fork in hot water to soften compound slightly. Use dull lab knife to peel away adhesive strips. 8. Mount maxillary cast on articulator with bite fork. (Shown here is detachable type bite fork assembly with associated mounting fixture.) 7. Replace bite fork between patient's teeth and attach face-bow to bite fork in the usual manner. h4405 D M Panadent Corporation 580 S.
