KOTC is proud of having a huge fleet of 29 tankers that transports oil and its products to different ports worldwide. This makes them vulnerable to face many risks during the operations of loading, unloading, sailing within the environmental and security risks and marine piracy. This requires great responsibility regarding full commitment to requirements of international safety laws, standards of quality, health and environment preservation. The company, thanks to Allah and employees efforts, has been ahead in applying many procedures and practices making it occupy a leading international position in marine transport.Within this framework, KOTC has launched, not before long, the campaign of awareness of the fleet importance aimed at strengthening and improving the seamen awareness and acting safely on board to avoid incidents, let alone the regular review and updating of the fleet management system program to improve performance and get more accurate statistical data that help avoid potential risks. Our tankers are subject to in-house audit by international rating authorities to ensure compliance with international standards and laws. We annually pass the audit successfully without serious violations. To address all kinds of potential risks, mock drills are carried out monthly on board the company tankers according to a definite timetable in abidance by maritime laws. These drills are followed by discussions to derive useful lessons. KOTC is also keen on holding training courses for officers and engineers working on board the tankers to increase awareness of the international requirements for HSE management. We regularly issue HSE leaflets and encourage the employees to actually contribute to supporting this trend practically and tangibly.Since the increase of piracy risk, we have taken many measures, inclusive of providing our tankers with modern deterrent and protection means. We contracted with a major international security firm, promoted the employees awareness to deal with emergencies and to be ready, especially in hot areas of danger. We have trained them to communicate with the company management to request support from relief centers and points spread in places of risk. This placed our tankers into a large extent to reach the safe side. In conclusion, I would like to announce that the company crew of officers, engineers and technicians are the real wealth of the company and the safety valve to preserve it. We appreciate their efforts and expertise. We will continue endeavors to train our employees to create a work environment suitable for providing security and safety through sensing the risk and avoiding incidents. We ask the Almighty Allah to keep our beloved country from every evil.

Al-Muhsialeh: I accepted assuming responsibility, learnt much and I'm ready to work under different conditionsAl-Shamali: woman's future at KOTC augurs well and, I'm ambitious to complete my drive at the plant

Kuwaiti women recently succeeded in getting further rights, tried more work fields and proved worthy and capable not only to perform tasks

, but to be a leader. At KOTC, woman had their large share through work at more than a single site and assumption of many posts. Their presence at "Sh-uaiba" Liquefied Gas Filling Branch (SLGFB) is an experiment worthy of appreciation and respect, due to the nature of fieldwork and remote distance. Through the interview by "Nakilat" magazine with a number of women engineers at (SLGFB), we highlight their experiment, duties
