    When using Pearson SuccessNet, be sure to turn off your pop-up blocker program. SuccessNet uses pop-ups, so your computer must allow them. Turn off Pop-Up Blocker from the Tools Menu in your browser.

    Before using SuccessNet, you must register, log in and set up your classes and students.

    Registering

    1. Go to www.pearsonsuccessnet.com 2. From the Welcome screen, click Register 3. Enter the Access code.

    4. Click Next. 5. On the Enter Profile screen, enter in the schools Zip Code 6. From the Select School or Building list, click your school or building name. If your school is not

    listed, type the first two or three digits of the Zip Code. 7. Complete the following:

    Title select your title. First name type your first name. Last name type your last name.

    Teacher ID type your teacher ID. Username type your username. Password type your password. Your password is case sensitive and must contain six or more numbers and/or letters with no punctuation or spaces. Confirm Password type your password a second time. Password hint type a hint that will help you remember your password. Security Question select a security question. Your answer type the answer to your security question. Email address type your email address. Confirm Email address type your email address a second time. Click Register to complete the process.

    Confirming Registration You must confirm that your registration information is correct. If another registrant has the same name as yours, you need to confirm the name shown on the screen is you.

    START USING SUCCESSNET Teacher Home Page

    The Scott Foresman teacher home page is the first screen you will see after logging in. To help you move through SuccessNet quickly, the home page is divided into three sections:

    My Library get books on available subject and related products. Success Tracker retrieve classes/groups, notices, assignments, reports, and tests. Messages read messages from Pearson Education. Teacher Resources - Enables you to access any of the listed resources.

    Products in My Library

    Go to www.pearsonsuccessnet.com and log in.

    Assigning Products to Your Class

    1. From the home page select My Account 2. Click Manage products at the bottom of the list. 3. Click Add selected products to your class/group.

    Adding Products to Your Account

    1. From the home page select My Account. 2. Click Manage products 3. Click Add new products. The Add New Products screen appears. 4. Enter the new product's product access code.

    ADD: SFRDLR06NTEN00T (only zeros)

    5. Click Check code. The Add New Products screen updates and lists the names and types of all products that match your access code.

    6. Confirm the products that are listed are the products you want to add. 7. Click Save.

    Classes

    Creating a Class or Group

    1. From the tip navigation menu, select Classes and then Build a new class. The Enter Class/Group Details screen appears.

    2. Type the class name in the Class/Group name field. This required field allows up to 40 alphanumeric characters.

    3. Enter the class period in the Period number field. This field allows up to 2 numeric characters. If you dont use class periods, leave this field blank.

    4. Enter the Section ID field (optional).

    5. Check boxes in the Select available products: list of student products available to your account.

    6. Click Save. The new class/group appears in the class list on the My Classes and Groups screen.

    Adding Students

    To add students to a class: 1. On your home page, click the Go to Class/Group Management link.

    -or- On your top navigation menu, select Classes and then click Manage classes.

    2. On the My Classes and Groups screen, click View in the Roster column for the class roster you want to view. The Class/Group Roster screen appears.

    3. Click the Add a student button. 4. On the Add Student screen, type the student's information. The required fields are marked with a

    red asterisk. 5. After providing all of the student's details, click the Save button to add this student to the class.

    -or- Click the Save and add another button to add this student to the class and then add another student

    Managing a Class Roster

    A roster is a list of students enrolled in a class. After you have created a class, you can create, view, and edit the details of the roster for that class on the Class/Group Roster screen.

    To view a class roster: 1. On your home page, click the Go to Class/Group Management link.

    -or- On your top navigation menu, select Classes and then click Manage classes.

    2. On the My Classes and Groups screen, click View in the Roster column for the class roster you want to view. The Class/Group Roster screen appears.

    Removing Students from a Class Roster SuccessNet makes it easy for you to remove students from a class roster when needed.

    To remove students from a class roster: 1. On the Class/Group Roster screen, select the student you want to remove from the roster by

    clicking the check box next to the student's name. You can select as many students as you want. To select all students in a class, click the check box in the top row.

    2. After making your selections, click the Remove students button. A message appears to confirm this action. Note that removing a student from a class terminates the student's license to the products within the class.

    3. Click OK. SuccessNet returns you to the Class/Group Roster screen and displays a confirmation message

    Assigning Activities and Tests

    Use the procedure below to assign activities to your students.

    To assign a test or activity to your students:

    1. On your home page, click Go to Assignments. -or- Click the Manage Classroom Activities hyperlink.

    2. Click Assign Activities. The Assign Activities wizard opens. 3. In the Assign from list, select the product. 4. In the first Find activities based on list, search by the product's skill or your own State

    standards. Using the drop-down arrow, select the set of skills or standards. 5. In the second Find activities based on list, a smaller list of choices displays based on the

    selections you made in Step 4. Using the drop-down arrow, select the subject. 6. In the third Find activities based on list, a smaller list of choices displays based on the

    selections you made in the above steps. Using the drop-down arrow, select the strand or category.

    7. Click Next to proceed to Step 2 of the Assign Activities wizard. 8. Select any of the check boxes that you want to browse to find activities. 9. Click Next to proceed to Step 3 of the Assign Activities wizard. 10. Select any of the check boxes that you want to browse to find activities. 11. Click Next to proceed to Step 4 of the Assign Activities wizard. A list of activities for each skill

    that you selected displays. 12. Select any of the activity name check boxes that you want to assign. 13. Click Next to assign the selected activities to either your entire class or to selected students only. 14. Click Assign to the entire class/group.

    -or- Click Selected students. A list of the students in your class displays.

    15. If you chose Selected students, select the check box next to Students to assign the activities to all listed students.

    -or-

    Select the individual students that you want assigned to the activities. 16. Click Next. All activities are assigned and your My Assignment List screen displays.

    Assigning Tests

    When you assign a test, your first step is to search for the specific test you want to assign. Then, select the test you want to assign from the list shown.

    To select the test you want to assign: 1. From the top navigation menu, click Classes and then select the Manage classroom

    assignments link. -or- Within the Tools section, click the Manage Assignments link.

    2. Select a class/group from the Class/Group drop-down list. The My Assignment List screen appears.

    3. Click the Assign tests button. 4. Select a product and a test type from the drop-down lists and click Go. 5. From the list of tests, select the test you want to assign and click Next.

    Before selecting a test to assign, ensure it is the right test by doing one of the following: Preview an online version of a test by clicking the appropriate link in the Test Name column. Preview a paper version of a test, click the View PDF link in the Paper Version column. View a summary of a test by clicking the appropriate link in the Test Summary column.

    Tests

    Working with Tests

    Your test bank is located on the Test List screen. You can view, modify, or delete an existing test or build a new test. The Test Screen includes the following information:

    Test Name - Name of the test

    Created - Date the test was created

    Test items based on - Skills or State standards the test is based on

    Created by - First initial and last name of the person who created the test

    - Test is published and ready to assign to students

    To view, publish, or modify a test: 1. Using the Select Test Bank drop-down list, select your test bank. 2. Click the test name hyperlink. The test opens.

    To create a new test: 1. Click Build New Test. The Step 1 - Enter Test Details screen appears. 2. Follow the steps in the Test Builder wizard.

    To delete a test from the test bank: 1. Click Delete next to the test being deleted. A pop-up box displays asking if you are sure you want

    to delete the selected test. 2. Click OK.

    Building Classroom Tests

    From the top navigation menu, click Tests and then select Build classroom tests. A test builder screen will appears. Step 1 of the Test Builder wizard is entering your test details.

    To enter test details: 1. In the Test Name field, enter a unique test name. 2. In the Description field, enter a description of the test. This step is optional. 3. Using the Find items based on drop-down list, select the set of standards or skills being tested. 4. Select one of the following methods to build your test:

    Let the system choose the questions - SuccessNet selects the questions for you; however, you can review each question individually and decide whether to include or exclude it from the test.

    I'll choose the questions myself - You review and select each question. 5. Select one of the following scoring options:

    Use only questions that can be automatically scored - SuccessNet selects only questions that can be scored automatically, such as multiple choice and true/false.

    Use any type of question including items I have to score myself - SuccessNet selects questions that can be scored both automatically and manually, such as short response or essay.

    6. Click Next. 7. If you chose to select your own questions, Step 2 of the Test Builder wizard appears.

    -or- 8. If you chose to let SuccessNet select your test questions, you are now ready to select the number

    of test questions.
