This program awards $50,000 in scholarships and provides access to a Pearson Mentor and Pearson textbooks. “Our partnership with Phi Theta Kappa demonstrates our commitment to help and inspire learners to make measurable progress in their lives through learning,” said John Wannemacher, Vice President of Higher Education Strategic Marketing at Pearson. “This scholarship and the accompanying Pearson Mentor program provide a valuable experience that will expand their resumes and help them to become more employable in the workforce.” Selected from nearly 800 applicants nationwide, each scholar receives a $5,000 scholarship — $1,000 to complete an associate degree and $4,000 to support the attainment of a bachelor’s degree. This is Phi Theta Kappa’s first renewable scholarship that follows a student from the associate degree program to completion of a bachelor’s degree. “Like Phi Theta Kappa, Pearson understands that a lack of financial resources is not the only thing preventing students from reaching their educational goals,” said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, President and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa. “Pearson provides these high-achieving students not only with renewable scholarship dollars, but also with the crucial support these students need to succeed. Phi Theta Kappa is proud to partner with Pearson.” Scholars were selected based on Phi Theta Kappa membership, civic engagement, persistence, leadership and academic rigor, with preference given to first-generation college students. The scholarship application will reopen in March 2017. I N S PI RI N G LEARNERS, EMPOWERI N G SC H O L A R S PEARSON SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

Pearson and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society are thrilled to introduce the 10 two-year college students chosen as recipients of the second annual Pearson Scholarship for Higher Education!

“This scholarship and the accompanying Pearson Mentor program provide a valuable experience that will expand their resumes and help them to become more employable in the workforce.”

Selected from nearly 800 applicants nationwide, each scholar receives a $5,000 scholarship — $1,000 to complete an associate degree and $4,000 to support

the attainment of a bachelor’s degree.

Phi Theta Kappa is proud to partner with Pearson.”

Scholars were selected based on Phi Theta Kappa membership, civic engagement, persistence, leadership and academic rigor, with preference given to first-generation college students. The scholarship application will reopen in March 2017.
