Peel House WINTER NEWSLETTER

A Big Thank You to The PPG (Patient Participation Group)

We welcomed members of the PPG to Saturday morning Flu

clinics where they handed out newsletters and took time to

explain to patients who they are and what they do. We look

forward to their contribution to the newsletter in the New

Year and to finding out what plans they have for future

events.

Flu Clinics 2012

It’s not too late ! We still have a small supply of vaccines

available, so if you qualify for a Flu vaccine just ask at

reception to arrange an appointment.

This year we introduced Wednesday Evening clinics as well

as the Saturday mornings. These were a huge success and

proved very popular and we will certainly look at expanding

this for next year. As always we had a number of people

failing to attend. We understand that on a Saturday you

cannot ring in to let us know but we are open until 6.30

Friday evening and do ask, wherever possible, that you ring

to cancel or re-arrange if you cannot make your

appointment.

Christmas and the New Year

except for the Bank Holidays.

Green Dreams

This is a practice based support service. If you are feeling

alone, Isolated, overwhelmed by housing, money or family

problems we are here to help. Life can sometimes be an

uphill struggle and have a real impact on our physical and

mental health. Peel House can refer you to a link worker –

just talk to your GP, Nurse or a member of staff. We can

help you build better connections in your local community,

support you to access the right services and help you to

overcome whatever difficulties you are experiencing.

Remember to register

Did you know you need to

register your new baby

with the practice before

they can receive any

immunisations? When a

baby is born we will

automatically receive

birth information from the

hospital in the mum’s name. It is a common

misunderstanding that this then automatically

registers the baby with the practice. Babies can then

be missed from immunisation recall. You need to

register your baby as you would any other person.

Simply collect registration forms at reception,

complete them and return them to the surgery.

Drop in Sexual Health Clinics

These clinics are for everyone and

not just the young. The number of

people over the age of 40 needing

this service has risen dramatically in

recent years. This is not always the

easiest topic to ask about, but the

Clinics are very discreet and no

appointment is needed, although

one can be arranged if preferred.
