On January 14, 2014, I had the pleasure of attending the Rev. Dr. Martin

Luther King. Jr. Breakfast held in the New University Union from 8:00am

to 9:30am. I was so surprised and more so pleased to see the vast crowd

the morning brought, with guests ranging from students

to faculty and staff, all with one goal in common: to honor Rev. Martin Lu-

ther King Jr. The morning consisted of a wonderful breakfast, as well as

various slideshows, presentations, and even song and dance by students of

our very own. The morning was truly exceptional, and enjoyed by all.

The Academic Excellence Committee

put on a highly successful study group

this Tuesday afternoon.

Students gathered to fill three separate

classrooms in the

Meiklejohn building.

Everyone enjoyed

Subway sandwiches

and other refresh-

ments provided by the campus

catering service, and students of

biology gathered upstairs to play

Microbiology Jeopardy with Kalette

Cole.

“Everyone was having a great time

and studying hard,” says Anthony

Becker, who went to support

Academic Excellence’s first big

event. “I think big, well-organized

study events like this

are really useful, and

I look

forward to bringing

my GS students to

their next one.” Anthony added. The

next Studying with Friends study

session will be held the week before

finals week.

“We want to make international students feel welcomed to our campus, and most importantly get help from the natives. This is a unique opportunity for these students who come from different countries around the world. I’m very excited for them” says founder Juliet Naishorua.

PASA’s Winter Kickoff

By: Catherine Quesada

Every quarter PASA holds an

information night to get members

excited about the upcoming

events. On January 16th, 2014

PASA held their second

informational night of the year.

During the Winter Kickoff a lot

was mentioned from fundraisers,

Kapatid events, Winter Formal and

much more. A big reason why they

wanted to have the kickoff was to

announce the Fall Member of the

Quarter. The award is given to

recognize the members that took

the time to come to events, to get

to know the PASA family, and to

really break out of their shell. The

person who was selected was

Fedelyn Legaspi who is a

freshman this year and became

very involved throughout all of

Fall Quarter. She described the

event and her time with PASA so

far as, “Winter kickback got me

pumped for the rest of the year!

Looking forward to the upcoming

events and I can’t wait to create

more memories with PASA. It’s

easy to get involved once you put

FAM first!” So if you missed out

on this informational night please

feel free to add PASA of CSUEB

on Facebook, Instagram, and

Twitter.
