Preparation:Tape around outside edge of shade before basecoating.

Painting Instructions:Basecoat shade with Winter Blue. Paint the trim with Midnite Blue. Float Midnite Blue on the inside edge all around.

Using the Rough Stippling Brush (or a sponge if you prefer), sponge the whole background with Snow White to give the effect of a light snow.

Transfer snowman’s head in and paint Snow White. Shade with Fawn.

Next transfer the leaves (holly and others). Paint green regular leaves (not holly) with Jade Green. Shade and add veins with Hauser Dark Green. Paint burgundy leaves with Deep Burgundy. Shade with Soft Black. Outline and add veins with Identi-pen. Paint holly using Hauser Medium Green.

Shade with Plantation Pine. Add some Deep Burgundy to each one. (I put it on one side of each holly leaf, but put it wherever you want – just nice to add some variety to the leaves). Add vein lines with Identi-pen.

Transfer rest of pattern – snow-man’s face and hat, pine boughs, snowfl akes.

Dry brush snowman’s cheeks with Terra Coral. Snowman’s nose is Burnt Orange, shaded with Soft Black. Add a broken outline with Identi-pen. His eyes are Lamp Black and highlight dot is Snow White. Paint snowman’s hat Lav-ender and shade with Dioxazine Purple. Add lines with thinned Snow White. Dots are also Snow White.

Paint pine boughs using Glorious Gold. Using Plantation Pine, add pine bough lines on top of the gold. Add dots for berries using Tomato Red. Use color picture for placement. When dry, add a smaller dot of Snow White to each. Add gold berries using Glorious Gold. Also add a Snow White dot to each of these.

Add snowfl akes in the background, using Snow White.

Finishing:Finish with a couple light coats of DecoArt Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher - Matte. Attach shade to nightlight, plug in and enjoy!

Preparation:Tape around the edges with tape before basecoating.

Painting Instructions:Basecoat with Sunny Day. Add plaid with size 12 Shader brush and liner for small stripes, using thinned Snow White. Float Slate Grey around outside edge of the design.

Transfer design to the shade. Paint elephant with Slate Grey. Shade with Zinc. Dry brush high-lights on with Snow White. Dry brush cheeks and inside ear with Coral Blush. Add eyebrow, eye and mouth with Identi-pen. Outline elephant with Identi-pen.

Paint the balloons with Coral Blush (shade with Watermelon Slice); Whispering Turquoise (shade with Desert Turquoise); Foliage Green (shade with Hauser Medium Green); Lavender (shade with Dioxazine Purple). See color picture for placement of colors. Dry brush center of each balloon with Snow White.

Paint letters on balloons with Lamp Black (I found it easier to outline the letter with Identi-pen

fi rst, then paint the letter). Use Snow White to add dots and hearts on the let-ters.

Paint outside trim with Zinc. Add dots around the edge with Watermelon Slice, Foliage Green, Lavender and Whispering Turquoise (see color picture for place-ment and pattern).

Add strings from balloons and around the elephant’s trunk with the Identi-pen. Outline balloons with Identi-pen.

Finishing:Finish with a couple light coats of Deco-Art Acrylic Spray sealer/fi nisher - Matte. Attach the shade to the nightlight, plug in and enjoy!

Brushes:Papillon by the Artist’s ClubAngular Shader size 3/8” #20110Filbert 2 #20116Glaze Wash ¾” #20102Script Liner 6/0 #20138Artist Inspired BrushesLaurie Speltz Stencil Brush, size ¼” #29001

Preparation:Tape around the outside edges of the shade before you start basecoating.

Painting Instructions:Paint the shade with Foliage Green. Paint background leaves with Festive Green Metallic and some Plantation Pine strokes on top. Then, paint the palm leaves with Festive Green Metallic. Shade with Plantation Pine. Add details with an Identi-pen. Paint the ferns (I think they’re really another kind of palm, but using fern here to distinguish between the two kinds of leaves. The ferns are the more feathery looking ones). Anyway, paint the ferns using thinned Payne’s Grey. I used the 6/0 Script Liner brush for these leaves. Paint the giraffe with Spicy Mustard. Shade with Honey Brown. The spots and inside of ears are honey Brown. The eyes are Snow White and Lamp Black. Highlight the antenna and tops of ears with Snow White. Outline with Identi-pen. Add small tuft of hair with Lamp Black or Identi-pen.

Paint the elephant with Slate Grey. Shade with Zinc. Dry brush the cheeks and inside ears with

Terra Coral. Dry brush highlights on body, top of nose and ears with Snow White. Eyes are Snow White and Lamp Black. Outline with Identi-pen. Add eyebrows, tuft of hair, mouth details and crease lines on nose with Identi-pen.

Paint lion with Spicy Mustard. Shade with Persimmon. Paint some of the hair of the mane with Spicy Mustard and some with Persimmon. (look at the color picture for guideline and color placement - it doesn’t need to be exact. You just want some variety of color). Float some Persimmon on top of some of the Spicy Mustard. Again, just ran-domly apply color so the mane has good variety. Paint the hair on his forehead in Persimmon. The eyes are Snow White, Slate Grey and Lamp Black. Nose and mouth are Lamp Black (lines for cheeks and mouth can be drawn with Identi-pen). Outline lion and mane with Identi-pen and add whiskers and details to ears and mane with the pen also.

Paint Good Night letters with Lamp Black (I outlined with Identi-pen fi rst). Paint the trim with Plantation Pine. Add white dots around the edge and saw shown by the leaves, with a stylus, using Snow White.

Finishing:Finish with a couple light coats of Deco-Art Acrylic Spray sealer/fi nisher - Matte. Attach shade to nightlight, plug in and enjoy!
