Membership Information Individual Membership $100/Year or $10/Month Must be a resident of Pelham and at least 19-years of age. Family Membership $200/Year or $20/Month Must be a resident of Pelham and includes all members living in the same home. Senior Center Senior Center provides opportunities for individuals 55 and older living in Pelham and Shelby County to improve their talents, enrich their minds, give service in the community, develop meaningful friendships, and help maintain physical health through health and wellness.

FitnessNEW Fitness Frenzy Day: Saturday Dates: January 4 Cost: Free Time: 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Age: All/Family Location: Pelham Recreation Center Gymnasium

Come meet and greet the Fitness Team at the first Fitness Frenzy of the year. This event is designed to sample and/or demo each of the fitness classes offered throughout the year. Come get expert guidance, establish a fitness routine, and have fun! The first 50 to register the day of the event will receive a free t-shirt!

Barre Day: Tuesdays Dates: January 7 – March 31 Cost: $5 Time: 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Age: 14 & Up Location: Pelham Recreation Center

Barre is a low impact, energizing workout that has proven to create long, lean, powerful muscles and increase flexibility. Classes include the use of the ballet barre, hand weights, resistance bands, and exercise balls. Exercises typically focus on small, pulsing movements with emphasis on form, alignment, and core engagement. All levels are welcome and encouraged!

Indoor cycling is a cardiovascular workout designed to make you sweat and burn some major calories. Participants will pedal through hills, intervals, sprints, and other challenging drills. Expect upbeat music that will keep you motivated and energized!

In-Trinity Warrior 1 Day: Wednesdays Dates: January 8 – March 25 Cost: $5 Time: 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Age: 14 & Up Location: Pelham Recreation Center

Increase flexibility, increase lean muscle mass, build a stronger heart, and relieve body aches and pains with In-Trinity Warrior 1. During In-Trinity, participants move through traditional Yoga stretches and Martial Arts agility sequences while elevated on a unique fitness board. This class is for all fitness levels.

A health and fitness program for Senior adults.

Yoga Day: Mondays Dates: January 6 – March 30 Cost: $5 Time: 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Age: 14 & Up Location: Pelham Recreation Center

This readily accessible vinyasa flow class mixes the power of physical yoga postures (asanas), deep breathing and mindfulness to take you on a journey to open your heart, quiet your mind, and renew your spirit. All levels, all bodies, and all types are welcome.

Zumba Day: Mondays & Wednesdays Dates: January 6 – March 30 Cost: $5 Time: 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Age: 14 & Up Location: Pelham Recreation Center

Zumba is a Latin-inspired high energy dance workout that combines fun and unique dance/fitness moves. No dance skills needed to enjoy just show up and dance.

2020 REGISTRATIONRegistration Forms are online at pelhamalabama.gov under the Park and Recreation Section and can be filled out online, printed and brought to the office for registration.

You may register in the following way: On the following Saturdays from 9:00AM-12:00PM. January 11 & 25 at the Pelham Recreation Center. Set up a time with the Park (358-0052) to bring your child to the office for registration between the dates of January 2, 2020 and January 26, 2020. Last day to register is January 26, 2020 6:00PM Register Online from the Pelham Youth Baseball/Softball Page on the City Website

Eligibility League age is that age attained by a player prior to May 1 of the current year for baseball and prior to January 1 for softball.

Registration Fees The fee for the first child is $160.00. This fee will decrease by $10.00 for each additional child in a family up to three children.

Example: Three children register to play from the same family

First Child - $160.00 Second Child - $150.00 Third Child - $140.00

The registration fee includes the uniform, supplemental insurance, equipment replacement, umpires, and championship trophies.

Birth Certificates Birth certificates will only be needed if there is an issue or question of a child’s age and/or if a child makes All-Stars, the birth certificate must be notarized or an original.

Prospective Coaches and Assistant Coaches Anyone interested in coaching or assisting a team (including former coaches and assistants), may obtain the volunteer form at the Park and Recreation office. This form must be filled out and turned in prior to noon January 25, 2020. Managers will be notified of their acceptance to coach by January 29, 2020 and all Managers and Assistant Coaches will have to attend a

certification class on February 15, 2020. A background check will be run on all managers and coaches for the safety of our children.

Evaluations Player evaluations for the 2020 season will be February 1, 2020.

NEW Sign Language Class AIDB’s Birmingham Regional Center American Sign Language (ASL) 1 Class

Day: Mondays Dates: February 3 – March 16 Cost: $70 Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Age: 12 & Up Location: Pelham Senior Center This 7-week class aims to introduce those with minimal to no signing background to the basic linguistic components of American Sign Language. In this course, students will be provided opportunities to expand expressive and receptive use of ASL, including a variety of special topics at an advanced level. This course also aims to increase student’s knowledge of Deaf culture. By the end of the course, students will be able to carry on a basic conversation, as well as have an expanded awareness of Deafness as a linguistic minority. A parent must stay on premise during the class.

Pelham Parks and Recreation is partnering with Fleecing the Flock to support the mission of providing a fleece blanket for the over 6,000 foster children in Alabama. Join us in making blankets and making a difference in our community. This is a free, family-friendly event guaranteed to create within you a sense of purpose and put a smile on your face. Material will be provided, donated material is also appreciated and accepted. Needed for one blanket: one 1.5 yard, solid color of fleece and one 1.5 yard, patterned fleece. Please bring your own fabric cutting scissors. Registration is required, space limited.

Art ClassesArt Studio Day: Tuesdays Dates: January 7 – March 31 Cost: $15/Month or $5/Class Time: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Age: 55 & Up Location: Pelham Senior Center Art generates a love of learning and creativity. Come explore and learn the basics of painting in acrylics, becoming familiar with supplies and understanding the medium. All levels are welcome. Bring your own 11x14 canvas, acrylic paints, and brushes. Space limited to 12. Registration: 1st working day of the month prior to the month of the class.
