Pelican News 24 May 2019

This half of term has definitely ended on a sunnier note than it began; one can only hope it now continues through the

half-term break and into what is left of the academic year! Next term is short but very busy so please try to make sure

your child has some rest in order to fully recharge their batteries as they will certainly need every ounce of energy to

see them through to 4 July.

5 July Prize Day crèche for Pre-Prep siblings of Prep children.

Housekeeping Please ensure you apply sun cream before your child arrives in school; we are happy to ‘top-up’ as and when needed

throughout the day. Applying sun cream to a whole class who have arrived at school without an initial application at

home is very time-consuming and we would far rather be spending that time teaching.

Please also ensure your child has a named sun hat in school at all times.

End of term / Prize Day Crèche As many of you know Pre-Prep term ends after the Summer Show and Sports Day on 4 July, which is approximately

12.30pm. However, we appreciate that if you have children in Prep or have to return to work you may not be able to

take your child home at this time. Therefore, we operate a crèche facility which runs until 4.30pm (there will be no TT

Club provision on this day). If you need to make use of this facility, please click here.

We also run a crèche on Friday 5 July for Pre-Prep siblings of children in Prep for the duration of the Prize Day

ceremony. If you need to make use of this facility, please click here.

It is vital you book a place for your child at these crèche facilities so that we can ensure correct catering and staffing

requirements.

Welcome Afternoons Next half term we host our annual Welcome Afternoons for children moving into Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 respectively

in September. These afternoons see the children spend some time in their new classes and provide an opportunity for

parents to come and listen to a brief talk about what lies ahead for your child as well as an opportunity to meet the staff

who will be looking after your children next year. Please click here if you are planning to attend.

Reception Welcome Afternoon 2.45pm – 3.30pm, Monday 17 June, Arts Centre

Year 1 Welcome Afternoon 2.45pm – 3.30pm, Tuesday 18 June, Arts Centre

Year 2 Welcome Afternoon 2.45pm – 3.30pm, Wednesday 19 June, Arts Centre

Summer Show DVD We will be producing a DVD of the Summer Show for you to purchase at a cost of £15 per DVD. Alternatively, you may

wish to receive it in a USB format for the same price. As ever, if you wish to purchase a copy please click here, indicating

DVD or USB, by the end of term and we will add the cost to your child’s school bill.

Nursery A polite reminder that the morning session finishes at 1pm; later collections will incur charges.

Reception Next half term we will be learning about the seaside. Please bring in anything related to this topic which your child

would like to share with their friends.

Year 2 As an introduction to the mini-topic of electricity after half-term, please could your child bring a battery operated toy in

to school on Monday 3 June.

A reminder that our trip to Longleat takes place on Wednesday 5 June; please ensure you have given consent for your

child to attend this trip. Children should bring a small backpack for their lunch and a backless booster seat if possible,

thank you.
