I would like to thank everyone who attended our “Being Catholic for Dums-Dums” on Wednesday Feb. 6th. There were around 70-80 people and it seemed everyone had a great

time. It was certainly worth the wait.

I want to thank Laura, who MC’d the event and put together and coordinated everything. She did the power point presenta-tion and created and printed the information on the tables. I would also like to thank Cindy, Barbara and Lily who decorated the tables. I would like to thank Nora who made dinner and her assistants, Cookie and Margie, who set everything up.

Finally, I would like to thank Catherine and Mike for their input in answering and explaining the different areas of interest.

There was a lot of information and clarification shared regard-ing some of the traditions of the Church, as well as, some laughter and humor. I found the evening to be very informative and faith-filled. Thank you, again, to all.

Shalom

NO SESSIONS All Students -

One day in heaven, God will

reward you for all the loving

things you do. When you clean

up the dishes without being

asked, God sees. If other

people are mean to you

because you love Jesus, God sees. God will be

so happy to see you in heaven!

Lord, show me ways to share with a smile.

Are any of your neighbors lonely? Go out of your

way to show Jesus’ love to those people.

Emergencies happen when you least expect them but they are less chaotic when

you have plans in place. Reviews of policies and procedures here at St. Louis have

shown us that we only have loosely constructed emergency plans in place. Be-

cause of this we are forming an Emergency Response Committee to establish well

thought out plans for almost every emergency contingency – severe weather,

fire, active-shooter, tornado, flood, bio-hazard etc. – as well as, review resources

and participate in proper emergency training. We are looking for able bodied

parishioners, whom are regulars at liturgy, to join this committee. No experience

is necessary, however if you have a law enforcement, military,

EMS, Firefighting or a security background, we’d welcome your

input and assistance. Call the office to join the team 586-468-

8734 ext 100 or if you have questions, speak with one of the Pas-

toral Team members.

The St. Vincent de Paul Pantry could use any donations of the following items:

Feminine Hygiene Products & Bar Soap

Items can be dropped off in the Parish Office during the week

or in the entrances of church on the weekend.

Inspiration for the Week

Getting ahead in the world is something many see as im-portant. Success, a comfortable life, and worldly securities are seen as what is needed to achieve happiness. Whether or not we like to admit it, these pursuits are operative in many of our lives. As much as we want to believe in the Gospel, we also find it hard not to cling to these other things. Uncondi-tional trust in God must be first if we are going to perceive the kingdom of God. And while God does not want us to go out of our way to be miserable, Jesus clearly gives preference to those who are poor, hungry, weeping, marginalized, vul-nerable, and despised. When people encounter these things, they touch God. It teaches us not to get too comfortable with our riches and that there is much more to true life than the stuff we find so important. LPi

Ash Wednesday

Would you like to help Larry in the Distribution of Ashes? There will be a sign-up sheet in church next weekend, Feb. 23/24 at the rear parking lot entrance. We will need 3 volunteers for each of the liturgies on Ash Wednesday – 9am & 7pm. What a great way to begin our Lenten Journey and to prepare for Holy Week! ~Cindy
