STEP ONE

Re-read the story again. Check the children’s knowledge ofthe days of the week by covering up the word on the page.Can they remember ?

STEP TWO

Using the flashcards from the previous lesson, reinforce thefood vocabulary. If necessary, write the words on the boardover each flashcard.

STEP THREE

Mime «I like». (Lick your lips, rub your stomach, say«Mmm»).Mime «I don’t like» (Say «yuck», shake your head, usenegative facial expressions) and point to a flashcard. Ask the question, «Do you like ?» to a child and encourage afull sentence reply «Yes, I like…» «No, I don’t like…»Repeat around the class.

STEP FOUR

Introduce Fast Food vocabulary with the Flashcards (pizza,lasagne, hamburger, cheesburger, chips, chocolate etc…)and repeat Step 3.

STEP FIVE

Activity No 2 Food Questionnaire.Ask the children to move round the class asking «Do youlike… ?» and replying «Yes, I like…» / «No, I don’t like…»There are two boxes left blank for the children to draw in twofood choices of their own.

STEP SIX

Play Food Bingo.The teacher should make three original Bingo Boards andthen make enough copies for the class. The three boardsshould ideally contain 9 boxes of different combinations ofthe food already learned, with the food vocabulary writtenunderneath each picture. Follow Bingo rules, with thechildren choosing a card with a food picture from anenvelope. Ask the children to practise reading the word. Ifthey have this picture on their board, they should cross itout. Repeat until a child has crossed out all the pictures onhis/her board. He/she is the winner and must shout out«Bingo».

STEP SEVEN

Continue the song.
