Connect with the City online Free Coffee & WiFi for WACE Students In support of Year 12 students and their upcoming exams, a dedicated study space has been set aside for the whole month of November. WiFi, tea and coffee are provided free of charge and students can gather around large tables to work in groups. This space will be reserved in the Library Function room at South Perth Library, Cnr Sangate St and South Tce, South Perth. City Welcomes New CEO The City has officially welcomed Geoff Glass as its new CEO, commencing in the last week of October. He looks forward to returning to the Local Government sector after a number of years at the WA Football Commission and welcomes the opportunity to work with City Councillors and Officers to build a distinctive identity for the City. Exercising an ‘open door’ philosophy, Geoff is keen to better understand the aspirations of the community in order for the City to operate effectively. He is committed to gaining a sound appreciation of the needs of the residents and stakeholders and in turn ensuring that the City’s efforts match those aspirations. People’s Choice Award Winner The 2015 Emerging Artist Award presented by Brierty concluded for its 13th year on Saturday 31 October after more than 600 patrons visited the exhibition over 10 days. The Soco Realty People’s Choice Award was awarded to the artwork which received the most votes from visitors to the exhibition. The City was proud to present this award to Kirsty Mouttet for her work ‘Four Paws’. Congratulations Kirsty! Public Information Session Modifications to Amendment No. 46 ‘South Perth Station Precinct’ At a Special Council Meeting held on 27 October 2015, the Council endorsed a number of changes to the proposed Amendment No. 46 to the City’s Town Planning Scheme No. 6, in response to community concerns. The significant modifications include: Reduction in the extent of the Special Design Area Creation of absolute height limits Maximum 10% variation from minimum lot area and frontage Increased street setbacks in certain streets Mandatory 1.5 minimum non-residential plot ratio. These significant changes to Amendment No. 46 are open for public comment until 5pm, Friday 15 January 2016. The modified text of Amendment No. 46 is available for viewing on the City’s website, or printed copies are on display at the City of South Perth Civic Centre and City libraries. Active Citizenship Awards

Nominations for the 2016 Premier’s Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards close 12 noon this Friday, 13 November 2015.
