NEXT MEET ING WEDNESDAY 2 6 TH . OCT
Well as Summer leads into Autumn the weather which has been rather mixed is still
with us and hopefully may improve to become an “Indian Summer”. This year has been a mixed affair with some successful and enjoyable trips and events and with some still to come the year is not quite over yet. We still have a few functions left to attend so try and support your group where possible. Just to remind you that “Grow Your Tenner” starts again this month (18th October see
enclosed flyer) so if you wish to help fund our trips and events for next year now is the time to donate them “Tenners”. If you have any questions or are unable to manage on-line do-nations please let me know ASAP and I will help you, contact details bottom of page 4. Let’s try and beat last years total. Our trip to Stratford was blessed with good weather and enjoyed by all. The “Tinshake”
at Tesco’s raised approximately £120. Thanks to all those that had a rattle. If you have any information that you would like to put in the newsletter, please contact me with details. Thank you Vince
Christmas Party 2016
The above event which this year will be partly funded by Staffordshire County Council’s Local Community fund. We applied for a grant to Councillor David Williams and with his assistance and approval a grant was duly made. (See page 3) Our Christmas Party this year takes place at Haling Dene on the 2nd December at 7pm.
The meal will be a buffet style meal and you can make your selection from the menu which hopefully will be available at the next meeting. It is essential to make your booking with Pam or any committee member or by phone or e-mail, address on page 4. It would be beneficial if you could book your requirements as soon as possible so that wastage is kept to a minimum. For PWP and their carers the meal is free and for guests
£15 per head. Entertainment is yet to be confirmed. As usual a raffle will be held and bingo played depending on timings. Vince
October Meeting At the above meeting on the 26th Oct our speaker Deborah from “Carers Hub” and will be informing us of their services and support to the community.
Trip To Chatsworth House The above coach trip will take place on
the 30th Nov leaving Haling Dene at approximately 09:00 am. Enjoy a Christ-mas market and the wonders of one of Britain's finest houses. If you require further information or wish to book for
the trip etc. please contact Pam.
“Poppy Day”. Please give generously for those that gave their all for
us including current veterans and buy a poppy. Thank you very much. “We will remember them” Vince
Lunch Club The next lunch club will be held once again
at Pillaton Garden Centre on the 5th October at 11:30 am. Please be sure to tell cafe staff that you are part of PPSG and you are allowed 10% discount on hot and cold drinks. Thank you.
Fish & Chips Supper
Please don’t forget to book your plaice (‘scuse the pun) for the above event, starting at 7pm on the 28th. Oct. Just give your name to Pam or a committee member as soon as possible.
Entertainment by Steve Ray. Members, PWP and carers are free. Guests are £7.50 per head. Thank you.
November Lunch Club This lunch club will be held at Pillaton
Garden Centre on 9th Nov at 11:30.
Grow Your Tenner This years campaign starts on Tuesday 18th
Oct running until Nov 17th or until cash is
expended. There will be a leaflet with de-
tails of our Local Giving campaign with
this newsletter. Please be generous and help
support your Group. This is a brilliant
chance to double your donations. Thank
you Vince

Future Coach Trips It is intended next year (2017) to run at least two coach trips again for our
main day trips. Other trips may be in the offing. Therefore, suggestions from any members on where you might like to go would be welcome. You can submit your ideas as usual to any committee member and all ideas will be considered. Please don’t be shy as everybody has a favourite place or two. Trips will probably be selected on popularity and suitability, but can be dis-
cussed at future meetings. Thank you Vince.
Brain Teasers Are these brain teasers
still offering a suitable challenge to those that attempt them? If not please let me know and I will try something else.
Thank you. Vince

Charity Curry Night
On July 28th the above Group fundraising event was held at the INDULGE restaurant in Chadsmoor. The evening raised in total £719
made up of donations, auction, raffle and ticket income. Our guest for the evening was Amanda Milling MP for Cannock Chase. Steve
Ray of Penkridge entertained us and as it was for charity generously waived his fee as did Kevin Costello who came from Doncaster and
piped a few tunes to everyone’s delight. Raj and his staff provided the food. This years turnout was much less than last year but those
who came were more than generous.
Ann & I would like to thank all our friends and relatives, members and all the other people who came and supported us and those
unable to attend but whom made a donation. Thanks also go to Wolverhampton Racecourse and the Well Pharmacy Group for their prize
donations. This event is one of the main income streams for our Group. Look out for next years event. Many thanks to all involved.

The Dead Sea Was Still Alive!
Penkridge Parkinson’s Support Group Christmas Event
Funding has been received through the
Staffordshire Local Community Fund and supported by
Councillor David Williams
Scams It’s getting close to that time of year again when the unscrupulous among us try even harder to part us from our hard earned money. Please remain vigilant both when answering the door and when answering the telephone. Remember your bank will NEVER ask you for your bank details over the phone, if you don’t know who is calling you then HANG UP!!
When answering the door, if you don’t expect anyone to call try and look out of a window first and if you don’t recognise them ask for ID (all reputable companies provide this to cold callers). If you have no business with them tell them to go away. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. If in doubt or if you feel threatened phone 101 or 999 and ask for advice. Also don’t forget, if you haven’t ordered a parcel you don’t require it’s delivery to be rearranged and they don’t need your bank details it’s a scam!!
If you need an official sign for your door requesting trade callers not to knock and disturb you please let me know. I will be hap-py to supply. Vince
November Meeting The above meeting will be on the 23rd Nov and will include Turkey rolls and mince pies. A Christmas quiz and Bingo will be
played with a raffle to try your luck. Our speaker will be Annette Logan PDNS who will bring us up to speed. This is our last meeting before the New Year with just the Christmas Party (see above) and Chatsworth House trip to attend. Vince
Christmas PPSG Bake-off
Following on from the success of last years baking competition Ann thought this year you might like
to carry on with the “Red White and Blue” theme to round the season off.
Bake off competition for our No- vember
meeting. Run along the same lines as
last year, cakes
should be presented at the meeting where
they will be laid out ready for the
judge (s) scrutiny. So come on la-
dies & gentlemen give it a go and may
the best cake win!!
Prize for the best cake. Best of luck to all bakers.
