9:00 – 10:30 a.m.WelcomeGENERAL SESSIONThe Respect Effect: Exploring the Science Behind Great Relationships Paul Meshanko LOCATION: Freedom BRespect. It’s a simple concept, a universally powerful motivator, and a core value for many global organizations. Why, then, is it so elusive in the modern workplace? With today’s increasingly diverse workforces, organizational culture has never been more important and a foundation for respect is the bedrock. Based on his highly acclaimed new book, The Respect Effect: Using the science of neuroleadership to inspire a more loyal and productive workplace, Meshanko goes beyond the typical “feel good” themes of organizational culture and digs deeply into the topics of evolution, psychology and neuroscience to show how powerful of a catalyst respect can be.

10:30 – 10:45 a.m. | Break | LOCATION: Freedom B

10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CONCURRENT SESSIONS

General Track: Staying Connected: Strategies for Leading a Remote WorkforceLOCATION: Commonwealth 3Today we are more connected than ever, yet at work, many of us feel more isolated and disconnected from the organization then in any time in history. As technology continues to allow team members to work remotely and spend less time in face to face interactions, organizations find themselves with the challenge of staying connected to employees while managing the ever pressing need to make each minute count. This environment can lead to disconnect between the employee and the organizational culture, values, and mission.Dr. Tonya Miller, DPT, Principal/Owner, TYM Coaching, LLCAmy Lafko, MSPT, MBA, Principal/Owner, Cairn Consulting Solutions

Home Health Track: QAPI in the Age of the Millennial 1.25 Nursing CEsLOCATION: Heritage ABIn the new world of data driven and outcome focused quality, the agency will have to learn to think, track and react differently. As the millennial workforce grows it will be key for the agency to learn to define duties, assess skill sets and identify leaders. As these two forces merge, the agency can learn to embrace quality differently. The future of agencies will be strengthened when they are able to recognize these are not diverse goals.Donna Floyd, RN, BSN, Principal Consultant, The Crag Business Group, IncRobert Floyd, COO, The Crag Business Group, Inc.

Hospice Track: Utilizing an Interdisciplinary Approach to Avoid Common Deficiencies | 1.25 Nursing CEsLOCATION: Commonwealth 1-2All members of the hospice interdisciplinary team (IDT) are responsible for care of the hospice patient and family, and their documentation should support the patient’s eligibility and compliance with the plan of care. But often this task is left to the RN on the IDT. This presentation will discuss how all members of the IDT should document to support eligibility and compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation in order to avoid the most commonly cited deficiencies. Lisa Meadows, MSW, Clinical Compliance Educator, Accreditation Commission for Health Care

Private Duty Track: DISCONNECTED: 2019 Caregiver Trend ReportLOCATION: Heritage DEThere’s a growing disconnect between how agencies and caregivers think about work. In myCNAjobs’ latest study, both agencies and caregivers were evaluated to uncover new thinking on how agencies can better align to drive more effective recruitment and improve retention. With 61% of agencies turning down cases within the past 30 days due to lack of staff, join us for this data-packed session to learn how managing this disconnect can help you leapfrog the competition. During the session, you’ll learn why only 22% of caregivers want to work for a homecare agency, how frequently caregivers want reviews why caregivers are leaving jobs and how to keep them. Attendees will also learn what caregivers are looking to earn nationally, in your state, and neighborhood. All attendees will receive access to the 2019 pay portal to run a complementary benchmarking report!Maggie Keen, Vice President Strategic Initiatives, myCNAjobs

Hospice Track: AND: The Conversation Formerly Known as DNR | 1.25 Nursing CEsLOCATION: Commonwealth 1-2In 2016 there were 2.5 million deaths in the U.S. and only 25% were at home, despite 80% of patients preferring to die at home. The goal of this program is to enable providers to have effective conversations about advanced directives with patients so they can make fully informed decisions. Allow for a Natural Death (AND) is a simple change in terminology that takes away the harshness of Do Not Resuscitate (DNR). Advanced directives provide the basis that frames the dying experience for the patient and their family. Our role, as the hospice team, is to educate, understand and support their decision.
