o A little over 3 ½ years

• How did you first learn about Pennybyrn?

o I grew up in High Point. I have watched Maryfield Nursing Home transform into Pennybyrn.

• What is your role?

o Social Worker for Transitional Rehab/ ICPT

• What is your favorite thing about working at Pennybyrn?

o Being able to come to work and knowing that I am helping not only patients but also their families. I often hear “I couldn’t imagine my mother being anywhere else”. It is very rewarding to see patients who have come through rehab leave stronger than they were prior to their hospitalization.

• What is your proudest moment at Pennybyrn?

o It is hard to have just one proud moment. Though, I feel that the past few months have truly shown me what a wonderful organization I am a part of. There are so many unknowns during this time, but we have continued to keep our spirits high and our smiles bright on a daily basis here at Pennybyrn.

The work / life balance Pennybyrn provides is very special. The support I have received as being a working full time mother is something I will always be grateful for. I have grown personally and professionally over the past 10 years. The opportunities Pennybyrn has provided me is something that I appreciate and will always be thankful for.I am in awe of our Healthcare staff. o I have so many proud moments, any time I represent Pennybyrn - I am proud. More specifically before Sunday, I would’ve said being involved in our Press Announcement of our upcoming expansion last year. It was special holding the announcement at the Convent - where Pennybyrn began. Today, I would say the parade we held on Sunday, May 10. To see something that started as an idea come to life with over 100 families and friends present was unbelievable. The look on our residents faces when they saw their loved ones is something that I will always remember. Hearing families exchange “I love yous” and “thank yous” to our staff was an amazing experience.

o I did my High School clinicals here and applied after I graduated

What is your role?

o Household Coordinator (for memory care unit)

What is your favorite thing about working at Pennybyrn?

o I love what I do so much, and to be able play a big role in my resident’s day to day life. It

gives me joy to give back to them during this time. It is a fun, exciting challenge daily

and I love the extra work I have to put in. Working with residents with Dementia

requires an EXTRA patient, calm spirited person. I knew I had a lot of patience but I have

found out that God may have given me a little more and other skills to take care of my

residents; to make sure they see his love on a daily basis.

What is your proudest moment at Pennybyrn?

o Getting the position as Household Coordinator was exciting to know I would be able to

help residents and their family members on a different level. I would be more

interactive with their care and how that was provided from our staff.

she shared with me how Pennybyrn was such a wonderful place to work. I jumped at

the opportunity when a position opened up in my field!

What is your role?

What is your favorite thing about working at Pennybyrn?

o Relationships. Simple as that. I have had the opportunity to build so many wonderful,

lasting relationships with employees and residents. I have so many grandparents!

Everyone truly feels like family to me and that aspect can be hard to find in a job. I am

so grateful.

What is your proudest moment at Pennybyrn?

o This is hard to choose just one. But, one of my favorite moments thus far was in my

Yoga Basics class when I had a resident that was not very active, nor participated in any

exercise classes, try out my class for the first time and with a little coaching and

encouragement, was able to not only get down onto the floor and perform a few poses,

she was able to get back up with minimal assistance. We both did a happy dance and

shed a couple of tears. It had been years since she had ventured to the floor voluntarily.

So exciting and rewarding!
