From our Pastor…

Happy Pentecost to all! As the Holy Spirit inspired the leaders of the early Church in how to move forward, so the same Holy Spirit is guiding our Project

2020 Steering Committee in moving forward with a five-year strategic plan for St. Bona-venture. New leaders have been added, and are known as the Phase II Team. Be looking for an informative letter in the mail from them in the next week. I wish everyone a very enjoyable summer—with little to no mask-wearing. Various parish activities have been planned for the summer: Vacation Bible School, a special event for vocations, a 9:00 am Memorial Day Mass at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, chalk-drawing in the parking lot on the Feast of St. Bonaventure (July 15), and the Parish Festival. The dispensation for Mass viewed at home has now ended. Everyone is required to participate at Mass in person. Come and see all your friends at Mass. Feed your spirits with God’s Word and Body! Allow the Holy Spirit to fall on you anew with His Sevenfold Gifts, especially the gift of Courage. For those who still are not comfortable resuming attendance at Mass, the dispensation is still valid for you. Mass will continue to be videoed.

Blessings,

MEALS ON WHEELS St. Bon’s is scheduled to deliver Meals on Wheels the week of May 31. There will NOT be delivery on Me-morial Day. If you can deliver Tues. thru Fri. to the

homebound, call Jan Brezinski, 402-564-6788 or 402-276-0128.

MEMORIAL DAY CEMETERY REGULATIONS St. Bonaventure and All Saints Cemetery regulations allow wreaths and flowers in non-permanent vases, (no glass allowed) to be placed on graves three days before and five days after Me-morial Day. Cut flowers will be removed during the week as they become wilted and no longer add to the appearance of the ceme-tery. Any items not set into the concrete base or are higher than 16 inches, will be removed after Sunday, June 6th, due to mainte-nance. At this time when we honor our deceased loved ones, con-sider purchasing your cemetery space(s) if you haven’t already done so. It is also a good time to look over your will and estate plan. Please consider including St. Bon’s Parish when doing so.

SAVE THE DATE! The Feast of St. Bonaventure is Thursday, July 15! All parishioners are invited for an evening of food and fun, see future bulletins for more information!

MEMORIAL DAY - MAY 31,2021 9:00am Mass at St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Bring your lawn chair and join us for a special Mass.

Reminder that the parish office will be closed May 31st in observance of Memorial Day!

BLESSING OF ITEMS If you have items that you wish to have blessed, you can drop them off anytime during business hours. Once they are blessed, you will be notified to come and pick up your items.

SUNDAY AND HOLY DAY DISPENSATION Archbishop George Lucas is lifting the Sunday and Holy Day dispensation the weekend of May 22-23 which means parishion-ers are once again obligated to attend Mass. While the responsi-bility to participate in Sunday Mass rests with each of us, there are persons who may consider themselves excused under certain circumstances. Those who are prevented from attending due to advanced age, sickness, disability or some other serious reason are excused. For the foreseeable future, those who feel they are at heightened risk of contracting or communicating COVID-19 are excused. This is an opportunity for all of us to respond again to the invitation of Jesus to come to Him. This is also an opportunity for each of us to share the invitation of Jesus with family mem-bers and neighbors. The faithful who are unable to attend Mass are urged to make holy the Lord’s Day and to pray, read the Scriptures, and take part in acts of charity!

APPOINTMENTS, PLEASE! If you need to talk to Fr. Mike, please call the office to make an appointment instead of trying to catch him in the sacristy (where the ministers prepare for Mass). While situations may arise that require immediate atten-tion, we must also be respectful of the time and space, recogniz-ing the sacred nature of our Eucharistic celebrations, and to not distract those who are involved with the liturgy. Thank you!

VEN ESPÍRITU DIVINO Por Padre Jairo Congote

DID YOU KNOW? During the year there are eight Church envelopes included in your monthly envelope packets that are associated with the Arch-diocese. The money collected from these envelopes are sent di-rectly to the Archdiocese to help with that specific need. In June you will receive Catholic Communications Campaign and Peter’s Pence’s envelopes in your monthly packet, below is a description of each envelope and what your contributions help with! Catholic Communication Campaign: The CCC helps the Church spread the Gospel message through the media locally and nationally. Half of all donations to the CCC collected in your diocese stay in your diocese to support your local communica-tions needs, such as radio and television programming and dioce-san publications. Catholic Communication Campaign funds have also made possible media campaigns supporting marriage, family communications, service to others, and reconciliation, reaching millions on radio and television. CCC funds also support commu-nications projects in developing areas of the world where the Church is growing but lacking in resources. The CCC helps con-nect people at home and abroad with Christ. Peter’s Pence: The faithful’s offerings to Peter’s Pence are des-

tined to Church needs, to humanitarian initiatives and social pro-

motion projects, as well as to the support of the Holy See. The

Pope, being Pastor of the whole Church, is attentive to the materi-

al needs of poor dioceses, religious institutes and of the faithful in

grave difficulties (the poor, children, the elderly, those marginal-

ized and the victims of war or natural disasters; concrete aid to

Bishops or dioceses in need, Catholic education, assistance to

refugees and immigrants, etc.).
