Message from the desk of the Pastor…..

My dear people of God,

Today is Pentecost Sunday. Today we celebrate the birthday of the Church. Come, Holy Spirit and fill our hearts with your love.

After his death and resurrection Jesus promised to give his disciples the gift of the Holy Spirit. He said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. Je-sus knew that his disciples would need the power of the Holy Spirit to carry out the mission entrusted to them. The Holy Spirit is given to all who are baptized into Jesus Christ to enable us to live a new life—a life of love, peace and joy. The Spirit instructs us in the ways of God and guides us in living according to God’s will. The Spirit is the source and giver of all holiness. Isaiah foretold the seven gifts that the Spirit would give:

Wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.

The gift of Pentecost—the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the spiritual gifts and blessings of God are made possible through the death, res-urrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus.

Do you want power to live a faith—filled life as a disciple of Jesus? Ask the Father to fill you with the power of his Holy Spirit.

My brothers and sisters, The Lord Jesus offers each one of us the gift and power of his Holy Spirit. He wants to make our faith strong, give us hope that endures, and a love that never grows cold. He never refuses to give his Spirit to those who ask with expectant faith. Jesus instructed his disciples to ask confidently for the gift of the Spirit: “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him. Do you thirst for God and for the abundant life he offers through the gift of his Spirit?

Lord Jesus, we thank you for the gift of Pentecost and for the new life you offer in the Holy Spirit. Fill us with your Holy Spirit and set our heart ablaze with the fire of your love that we may serve you in joy and freedom.

May God bless you all.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Joseph

Sometimes God will put you in a battle empty handed, so that when you do get the victory,

you'll know it wasn't you, but Him. -1 Corinthians 15:57

What are silent battles? Have you ever kept something to yourself that you’re currently going through and you don’t want to bother people with it? Whatever it is, you go through it silently and you eventually over-come it. That is what I mean by a silent battle! Sometimes God gives us battles that we have no control over and we just have to go through it until we reach the other side of it. We might even question God and won-der why He is making us go through whatever it is. When God gives us these silent battles, He wants us to realize that once we overcome it, we will know that God brought us through it and we didn’t do it all alone. Honestly, God is so silent when we’re going through a battle and it’s because God wants us to find Him on our own when we need Him the most. Call out to Him and He will be there right by your side through everything. He will never leave you or forget you. God loves you so much and you’re going to get through this, I promise. Please listen to the song, "Over And Over" by Riley Clemmons. "But somehow You choose me over and over again. You keep running to me no matter where I am over and over again. I get lost I must confess. Oh, how quickly I forget, but You keep on showing me I'm loved.” Kylie

“I came to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were already kin-dled!” Jesus told the disciples (Luke 12:49). These radical women saints got that. They lived it, and they didn’t care whether it cost them earthly love or respect. They did so in a world that looked much like ours. Many of these saints took trains, rode in cars or airplanes, received telegrams, talked on phones, watched television and movies, and perhaps a few knew their way around a computer. All were photographed, and many were filmed as they shared their radicalness. They had an awareness of some—not all, but some—of the modern-day distractions that, when not used in moderation, threaten to crowd out room for God. And while they may not have taken selfies and had social media accounts, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that if they had, they would-n’t have been checking likes and shares at prayer, meals, or time with their loved ones.

Pro-life: Since the beginning of America, over 2,852,901 plus people have been killed in all our

wars. Since the 1973 Roe v Wade deci-sion on abortion, an average of 1,342,936 babies has died from surgical abortion each year. In just two years of surgical abortions the war on the unborn has

killed the same amount of all our war dead since

God's E-mail: One day God was looking down at earth and saw all the evil that was going on. He decided to send an angel down to earth to check it out. He called one of His best angels and sent the an-gel to earth for a while. One day the angel returned. "It's bad on Earth" the angel reported. "95% is bad, and 5% is good." Well, God thought for a moment and decided to send down a second angel to get another point of view. Later, when the sec-ond angel returned, God was given a similar mes-sage. "Yes, the earth is in decline, 95% is bad and 5% is good," the angel said. God thought, this is not good. So He decided to send an e-mail to the 5% that were good. He wanted to encourage them, give them a little something to help them keep going. Do you know what the e-mail said? ...Oh, you didn't get one either, huh? Bummer.

ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

My JESUS, I believe that YOU are TRULY present in the Blessed Sacrament.

I love YOU above all things, and I long for YOU in my

soul. Since I cannot now receive

YOU sacramentally, come at least

spiritually into my heart. As though YOU have al-

ready come, I embrace YOU and unite myself entirely to YOU, never permit me to be

separated from YOU.

For

Your Special Intentions.

Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston Prayer in the Time of the Coronavirus

Comfort us, O Lord, for we are like your disciples on the

storm tossed seas, unsettled by what lies ahead. We turn to

You, our Healer and Guide, To still our hearts in our time

of need and hear our prayer: Heal those whose are sick with

the coronavirus and protect the elderly and most vulnera-

ble. Give strength to all who tend to our health and wis-

dom to researchers who work toward a cure. Open our

eyes and hearts, as you did during Hurricane Harvey, that

we may look beyond our immediate needs to care for others

who need help. Through the Holy Spirit, guide our leaders

to make wise decisions for the welfare of all the

people they serve. Grant eternal rest to those who have

died from the virus. May Mary, Our Mother, who has

heard our pleas in the storms of our lives, Intercede to her

Son, that we may find healing and a prompt end to this

illness. Mary, Star of the Sea, pray for us.

Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, heal us.
