DOB: July 20, 356 BC Birthplace: Pella, capital of Ancient Greek
Kingdom, Macedon Father: King Philip II of Macedon Mother: Olympias of Epirus At age 20 Alexander was named king after
his father was assassinated by one of his own bodyguards.

Alexander’s Empire
Alexander the Great was an amazing conqueror with conquests stretching from Macedonia to Egypt, even as far as India.
Alexander’s Downfall
As Alexander conquered more territories he would spread his army out to occupy the territories.
This would be a problem that would eventually lead to the fall of Alexander’s Empire.
However Alexander would not live for the collapse as he died in 323 BC at age 32 in Babylon.
The cause of death is debated by historians, some believe he died of Typhoid fever, others suggest it was a result of Alexander’s heavy drinking. Alexander the Great was then placed in a gold sarcophagus and taken to a tomb in Alexandria.
