Exalted Ruler Message^LOurLodgeholdsmeetingson the first and third Monday ofeach month

except July, Augustand September when we have onlyone meeting on thethird Monday. The members whoare at these meetingsare the supreme authority at our Lodge. The members who are at these meetingsoverrule theER,the Trustees, allofficers and chairperson. Ifyou don't attend our meetings, you forfeit your right to control your Lodge.

Our Lodge Veterans' Dance will be held on November 8,2003. Here'showyoucan helpout. Ifyouor yourspouse can bring a photographofyou inuniform, we will copy it and return the original. At the Veterans' Dance, thecopies will be placed on a Wall of Honor. A "guess who?"contest will be heldand prizes given to those that match the most photos withour members.

Ifyou sponsor someone for membership in our Lodge, you shouldaccompany your friend to his/her indoctrination and initiation. Help your newcandidate through their first days of membership by introducing them to theirfellow members. This is an enjoyable place to be, as they will soon learn.

New and much improved Lodge expansion plans have been drawn upby chairman, Dean Robinson. These plans and a model will be displayed anddiscussed at the June 2,2003 meeting. If you care—BE THERE.

See you at the Lodge,Vinny Gough

BY LAW AMENDMENTOur ByLawamendment ofArticleIX sec.1 was rejected by the Grand

Lodge Judiciary. The reason was, only the number of members on the HouseCommittee must be named and not their titles as we had submitted. Therefore a corrected amendment motion will be voted upon at the June 16,2003meeting to wit:

Article IX section 1 of the ByLaws of Palm Coast #2709 presentlyreads: "the operation, management, and control of the Home, Club or otherfacility owned and/or occupied by the Lodge shall be supervised and conducted by the Exalted Ruler, the Esteemed Leading Knight, the EsteemedLoyal Knight, the Esteemed Lecturing Knight and the Trustees ofthe Lodge."

The proposed change shall be amended to read: "the operation, management and control of the Home, Club or other facility owned and/or occupied by the Lodge shall be supervised and conducted by a House Committeeconsisting of nine (9) members to be appointed by the Exalted Ruler of theLodge."

Respectfully submitted by Vinny Gough.

We have all, at one time or another, carried out a plan that went sobad and we were so embarrassed, that we wished we could hide our head likean ostrich. Ifwe're lucky, time will forgive our imperfections, and we can riseup from a fall. Not so lucky was Charles Stephens who thought a trip overNiagara Falls would make him world famous. He attached a 100-pound anvilto the bottom of his barrel for ballast and then got in and strapped his feet tothe anvil. He surrounded himself with pillowsand inserted his arms into twostraps bolted inside the barrel. The force of the plunge caused the bottom todrop out of the barrel. The anvil, together with Mr. Stephens, sank to thebottom. The only part of the barrel recovered was a stave with an arm strapattached to it....

Remember those children's letters to God? How about these: Dear

God, when you wrote the bible you made up all the words and spelled themthe way you like. That is great. Most of the time I do it like that, but I am notdoing so good./ Ron... Dear God, /We are learning about Jonah and the whale.Where he swallowed him and everything. It is the best story Iever heard withaction and fright. Mydaddy says it sounds fishy to him. Do you think that'sfunny. / Sam...Dear God, /What is it like to die. Nobody will tell me. Ijust wantto know, I don't want to do it./ Your friend, Mike...Dear God,/ My name isRobert. Iwant a baby brother. My mother said to ask myfather. My father saidto ask you. Do you think you can do it. Good Luck./ Robert...Dear God, /I gotleft back, Thanks a lot. Rob...Dear God,/ Mylittle brother is four years old. Iwish you could please get himto stop driving me crazy. Yourfriend, Margaret/age 7 1/2...Dear God,/ My teacher read us the part where all the Jews wentthrough where all the water was and got away. Keep up the good work. IamJewish./ Love, Paula...Dear God,/ Church is all right but you could sure usebetter music. Ihope this does not hurt your feelings. But can you write somenew songs. Yourfriend,/ Vic...Dear God,/1 am the only one in my class whois Chinese. They all say that you are American, but Iam too. so you could beChinese right?/Your friend, /Kim...Dear God, /Do you get your angels to do allthe work? Mommysays we are her little angels and we have to do everything./Love, Irene....

"What age would you rather be than six?" I asked one of my grandchildren. "Thirty, 'cause then you're an old man and pretty soon you'll be withGod."...another of my grandchildren said to his teacher: "My grandma andgrandpa have been married 57 years." "They're lucky, aren't they?" said theteacher. "Grandpa says it isn't luck, it's skill."

So long for now my brothers and sister, and remember: children are agreat comfort in our old age: and they help you reach it faster too....
