Conclusions • Very recent phenomenon: Mid-nineties

• An emerging star in the Spanish wine business

• A secret waiting to be discovered

• Empordà = Quality– Wine quality– Food quality– Landscapes– In short… quality of life!!

Page 28: Per Elada Presentation

Our vineyards

Castillo Perelada’s vineyards• Castillo Perelada owns 150 hectares in the Empordà, and has control over 300 hectares more

• Between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees

• We strongly belief that the work in the vineyard is the key to producing quality wines

• Take advantage of the heterogeneous soil of the Empordà:– The best soil for each variety– Single vineyard wines (vinos de finca)

• In the numerous parties that he held at his home in Port Lligat (now a museum), the brilliant painter used to offer what was then known as “Perelada’s Rosé Champagne”

Castillo PereladaSingle-vineyard wines• One of the most characteristic geological features of the Empordà is the heterogeneity of its soils. • Castillo Perelada’s single-vineyard wines, known in Spain as vinos de finca. Their personality is indelibly characterised by the vineyard from which they are born.

Castillo PereladaEx Ex Collection• Since 1992 Castillo Perelada has an experimental vineyard and a microvinification cellar• Our oenologues study the influence of factors such as: - Grape harvest at different ripening moments - The soil - The solar exposition - Optimized irrigation - Etc• With the results of these experiences, Castillo Perelada creates the wines of the future.• Some of the wines that are made in these R+D experiences have an exceptional quality. Then they are included in the Ex Ex Collection: Exceptional Experiences

The Priorat experience

GR-174 • GR-174 is the lovely path that crosses Priorat. Hiking all along this track is probably the best way to feel its beauty. If you could concentrate in a bottle the ripe fruits aromas and the minerality of its terroir the result would be a wine like this.

• Varietals: Garnatxa (35%), Carinyena (25%) y Cabernet Sauvignon (40%).

• Ageing: 50% aged during nine months in French oak barrels.

Page 107: Per Elada Presentation

Cruor 2005• Garnatxa (30%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Merlot (20%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Syrah (10%).

• Fourteen months in French oak casks (50% new, 50% one year old).

• In the Guía de Vinos Gourmets 2009 Honour Panel

• 92 points in Guía Vivir el Vino
