ORecommendation Leads inx Medical to Permian Plastics

As a referral from an existing Permian Plastics client, inx Medical was aware of the range of services and high quality standards in the controlled environment, GMP compliant facility with ISO, FDA and UL certication. inx Medical had a design developed which required engineered plastics and some ne tuning for performance and cost eective tooling. The nished Nexus™ Ligator needed to be assembled, individually packaged, sealed and kept clean under GMP standards.

Material Requirements & Functionality

Permian’s broad range of medical engineered plastics’ expertise matched the Nexus™ Ligator material requirements with the right plastic options: • Non-BPA• Recyclable• Safe. Eastman Tritan™ copolyester-industry-recognized testing for attributes such as toughness, clarity and sustainability and completion of numerous tough safety tests. The dual triggers in the handle were color coded by use. The trigger material was selected for lubricity, designed to provide the physician smooth, comfortable control.

When asked about the overall experience with Permian Plastics, Jim Vermeersch, President & CEO inx Medical, responded “Permian’s support was timely and professional. OProduct Key Requirements

• Office Based Treatment. Not restricted to hospital, clinic or surgery centers o No additional personnel or equipment required• Perform better than current rubber band ligation methods o Supplied pre-loaded with latex free bands > Allows for single or multiple banding during one procedure o Intuitive design for rapid adoption and prociency o Dual action with integrated suction & band deployment triggers• Completely disposable

Design Support from Permian Plastics

Permian worked closely with inx Medical and their design engineer to modify the original design for moldability. Each part was reviewed for thickness of walls, aesthetics, functionality, and economy. By focusing on best injection molding practices the result was cost eective tooling for smooth manufacturing and assembly.

First Run for Clinical Evaluations

Permian produced a short run for clinical evaluations that Jim Vermeersch stated was completed on time and with excellent quality.
