T-LiteTM’s benefits:

Superior dispersibility

High compatibility

Excellent transparency even at high concentrations (> 8 %)

ApplicationsT-LiteTM is suitable for sun protectionas well as for daily care and decora-tive cosmetics. In sunscreen formula-tions, it protects reliably against sun-burn and photoaging. Not only dailycare products profit from its excellenttransparency and superior skin feel;decorative cosmetics also benefit fromT-LiteTM’s superior overall properties.

T-LiteTM is a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB filter based on microfine titanium dioxide, which makesformulating with pigments significantly easier. T-LiteTM impresses with its superior performancein terms of dispersibility, compatibility and transparency.

Furthermore, due to its transparency,T-LiteTM does not affect the color shade.

As titanium dioxide is well-known tobe non-irritating, it is recommendedfor sensitive skin and child care. T-LiteTM has no photocatalytic activity, which enhances its suitability forhypo-allergenic applications.

T-LiteTM is available in two grades: T-LiteTM SF and T-LiteTM SF-S

Both grades are easily dispersible andcompatible with a wide range ofcosmetic oils, silicones and solvents. These superior properties result in asuperfine distribution of pigmentparticles and in stable formulations.Furthermore, T-LiteTM SF and T-LiteTM

SF-S provide reliable broadband UVprotection and excellent transparencyeven at high concentrations.

T-LiteTM SF is distinguished by its superior transparency.

T-LiteTM SF-S is even easier to dis-perse and enables refined formula-tions at lowest viscosity, even withincreased pigment concentrations.

Both grades offer you excellent formu-lation flexibility combined with a highlevel of performance!

Regulatory statusT-LiteTM is approved for use up to 25 %of product content in the followingregions:

European UnionNAFTA (not in combination withAvobenzone) Japan Asia Pacific (incl. Australia) South Africa

T-LiteTM is highly compatible with awide variety of formulation basessuch as polar and non-polar oils, silicones and solvents. In particular,T-LiteTM SF-S is distinguished by itssuperior compatibility with cyclo-methicone (see Table 2) and super-fine particle distribution.

This enables the creation of con-sumer products in every desirabletexture and skin sensation. The lowviscosity formulations also result inexcellent spreadability.

You think that a pre-dispersed micro-fine pigment is less problematic than apowder? T-LiteTM combines the bene-fits of a powder with the easy handlingof a pre-dispersion material. You cansimply add T-LiteTM to the oil phase, with no need for a pre-dispersion step.An extraordinarily homogeneous andstable dispersion is rapidly formed. You are also no longer restricted tousing only particular oils and solvents. Now you can determine the mixingratio for yourself.

With T-LiteTM laborious pre-dispersionsteps can thus be omitted. This givesyou independence and far more flexi-bility when formulating. In addition, T-LiteTM withstands temperatures of80 –100 °C and high shear rates.

Another advantage of T-LiteTM is thatyou do not have to experiment muchwhen developing new formulations. The probability of achieving stableformulations within a reasonablespace of time is significantly higherwith T-LiteTM than with formulationsmade with many other titanium diox-ides.

Formulation of highly homogeneousand stable dispersions

It has never been easier to producehighly homogeneous formulations soquickly and simply. Due to the smallsize of its particles and its specialsurface coating, T-LiteTM produces asuperfine and even distribution informulations. As a result, formulationswith T-LiteTM benefit from increasedstability.

With T-LiteTM, you can create transparent formulations with high SPFsand achieve a superior skin feel at the same time.

Lowest viscosityFormulations with T-LiteTM usuallyshow a significantly lower viscositythan those formulated with othertitanium dioxides on the market.Even at high pigment concentrationsyou can achieve wonderfully eleganttextures with an excellent skin feel, which is of particular interest in thecase of daily care applications.

T-LiteTM fulfills two requirements inorder to achieve this:

Formulations with T-LiteTM are distinguished by their excellent transparency. Even at pigmentconcentrations above 8 %, T-LiteTM delivers reliable broadband UV protection with an amaz-ing transparency. Its high transparency results from T-LiteTM’s small particle sizes and specialsurface coating, which renders a superfine distribution in formulations.

Fig. 2Draw-downs of 10 % TiO2

formulations on black paper.T-LiteTM performs significantly

better in comparison withcompetitive products.

With T-LiteTM alone, you can achieveSPF values of above 20. Furthermore,T-LiteTM can be used for SPF-boosting.Efficient combinations of T-LiteTM withmany other types of UV filters – bethey organic (e.g. Uvinul® MC 80,Uvinul® T 150, Uvinul® A Plus etc.) orinorganic (e.g. Z-COTE®) – make anytype of protection possible: from“Ultra High Protection” to “Only Min-eral Protection”. Due to its rutile latticestructure, T-LiteTM shows high photo-stability in every type of application.

As a microfine inorganic pigment T-LiteTM is suitable for all skin types.Different varieties of skin care anddecorative cosmetic products benefitfrom T-LiteTM’s excellent properties.Due to its broadband absorption, T-LiteTM can even fully replace organicUV filters, e.g. in hypo-allergenicproducts.
