Introduction
Personal protective equipment(PPE) consists of clothing that is used to protect the human body
from contact with herbicides and their residues. Herbicide labels may also list minimum PPE that
is required to handle that particular compound. Labels may also list different PPEs for different
activities, e.g. one set for mixing and loading and another set for applying the herbicide.
Objective
To identify and explain the functions of PPEs.
Material
Gloves, boots, goggles or face shield, respirator and Tyvek suit or apron

Goggles- to protect the eyes and face against splashes when pouring, mixing, loading,
spraying of tall crops
Respirator- to prevent inhalation of herbicides during pouring, mixing, loading and
spraying
Gloves- to avoid the hand from herbicides
Apron- prevent the herbicides from the body and clothes
Boots- to prevent the leg parts from the herbicides and bring safety during the activity.
