High Skilled Workers_ CANADIAN IMMIGRATIONIncreasingly mobile and educated
95% immigrants were between 25 to 44 years old
98% hold a bachelor’s degree or higher
Source: WES Research & advisory services
47% immigrants are looking for an opportunity to settle in Ontario
350,000 immigrants (est.) will need to meet Canada’s workforce demand annually by 2035
![Page 5: Perspectives 2017: Shafi Bhuiyan](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062302/58cebd081a28abb2218b6fdf/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUATES (IMGs) BRIDGE TRAINING
Only 5-10% of ITMDs/IMGs are currently able to work as licensed physicians
Non-regulated occupations are unwelcoming to ITMDs due to
insufficient Canadian education, language proficiency, and lack of Canadian experience!!!
Part of the solution: Many of these barrier can be addressed through the
Gateway Program for Internationally Educated Professionals
Fall 2015, The Bridging Program for ITMDs was developed in response to the societal need for
better integration of ITMDs into the Ontario healthcare workforce

THE BENEFITS OF A CANADIAN EDUCATION
May 2, 2023 | 6
The majority of immigrant professionals unable to find employment in their field are working in jobs below their skill level
Workers born and educated in Canada have a significant advantage over workers educated outside of the country
