Our members, volunteers and players have worked exceptionally hard to build our reputation as one of the leading providers of amateur sport in Scotland.

As we celebrate our 150th anniversary, the principles on which the club was founded in 1868, nurturing individual talent and developing team spirit within a strong community base, remain true today. Our values of inclusion, respect, pride and sportsmanship are at the core of everything we do.

We have a bold vision of where we see our club in the future. The committee have unveiled ambitious plans for the club to continue to move forward and deliver excellence in sport for our members and community.Phased plan for the future:

CLUB STRUCTURAL ENHANCEMENT

In line with Perthshire Rugby’s ETHOS, standards and core values of Inclusion, Respect, Pride & Sportsmanship, we’re adopting an innovative, best practice approach to the management of each of our teams, the Perthshire POD. As a Positive Coaching Scotland Accredited Club with SRU accredited coaches for all ages, this new approach will further improve communication and enable coaches to focus more time on coaching and streamlining our efforts.

In line with our core value of inclusion, Perthshire Rugby’s Rugby Development Team have established partnerships with many primary and secondary schools in our community as we seek to reach out to encourage boys and girls from every background to enable them to have fun, participate in sport and attain the associated health and well-being benefits. As a natural pathway from primary and Mini rugby,

the team facilitate PKC Schools’ Conference and PKC Schools’ Tournaments with neighbouring authorities. Our Rugby Development Team always seek new ways to engage with our community, particularly with those keen to take up sport, improve fitness or return to sport after absence. Perthshire Rugby is an accredited SRU Tartan Touch Centre and Women & Girls’ Hub.

The Perthshire POD

Perthshire Rugby is located in the heart of Perth, on the North Inch, Perth City Centre’s most popular green space, on an established walking and cycling route with excellent footfall most evenings and weekends.

Perthshire Rugby has strength and depth in our community with over 350 players and coaches, more than 550 members, 1800+ Facebook likes & a further 3,750+ likes on our Perth Beer Festival Facebook page.

Perthshire Rugby’s Midi Section goes from strength to strength enjoying steady growth in playing numbers and improvement in performances season to season. We host teams from S1 (U13) to Colts (U18) and typically provide 3 to 3.5 hours of coaching each week.

Perthshire Rugby is an SRU accredited Women and Girls’ Hub. We’re working hard in our community to grow women and girls’ participation in rugby. Women and girls’ training sessions take place weekly on the North Inch and from U12, our girls and ladies have full access to our Athlete Development Programme and strength and conditioning coaching facilities. We are establishing a core of talented and dedicated athletes enjoying and taking PRIDE in playing rugby within a positive team environment.

Our firm ambition is for Women and Girls teams to participate & compete for Perthshire Rugby at all age groups. Many girls play in our Mini Section, a strong, successful team has been developed at U12 and, building on that success, an U15 team has been established. In 2017 we hosted our inaugural Ladies 7s competition at Perthshire Rugby Sevens Tournament and our team, Perthshire Select, were the tournament winners.
