Asls it ... By H. L. Young, Superintendent of Safety
Schools are out and the youngsters are "off the reservation" for the summer. So Pacific Electric has intensified that part of its continuous safety program which pays special attention to looking out for the children.
While they play we'll be working all the harder to keep from spoiling a single vacation by an accident. We want no vacation from safety!
Won't you join hands with us in this effort? If you are a parent, please help to keep youngsters out of streets and away from railroad tracks.
And if you're a motorist, join our Pacific Electric operators in a special effort to look out. for the kids when you drive.
Safe driving is courteous driving, and courtesy is contagious. Let's spread it around this summer . . . especially for our children's sake!
NO. 1544 TO TRAVEL TOWN As PE's third gift to Travel Town, Freight Loco
motive No. 1544 this month is being turned over to the transportation display in Griffith Park. This historic electric engine ran up and down Market Street hauling away debris and bringing in emergency supplies following the San Francisco earthquake and fire of 1906. Later it pulled the dirt trains as Pacific Electric excavated for its downtown subway tunnel in 1925. Now it joins the old Sierra Vista Station and Express Car No. 1498 as the · company's gift to the children of Southern California.
LOST SOMETHING on a Pacific Electric car or bus? Then don't overlook our Lost and Found Dept. in the parcel check rooms at Subway Terminal and S1xth and Main Sts. Station. Money and jewelry are held here 60 days. Other articles-gloves to dentures-are held 30 days.
