Food Service Facts

● National School Meals Program can only be used on

instructional days (this is when attendance is taken for

classes)

● CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) can be used

on days in which there is no formal instruction days

● Waivers have already been submitted to allow for non-

Hybrid Feeding/Half the Students in School 2 Days/Week

● Menu entree choices will be limited to one hot and one cold entree

● VDOE strongly suggests serving lunches through the lunch line to give students more

opportunity for choice. This also helps maintain temperatures of food that is required

by the health department

○ Classes should be staggered as to limit the amount of students in the line at one

time.

○ Social Distancing would be put into place

○ ALL food items would be handled by food service employees

● Kiosks could be used if the cafeteria is not available.

● On the second day of students attending, meals for the remaining 3 days (breakfast

and lunch) would be provided on the bus for take home meals

37

cover all areas of the City

● Heat and Serve items will continue to offer a variety of menu

options

● Menus will change every 2-weeks

● Provide a 2-day distribution, but giving out 5 days worth of

meals, both breakfast and lunch (either under NSMP or

CACFP program).
