Logo
Logo
LogoOur logo is the brand name and therefore ensures brand recognition. For this reason, it is vital that the logo‘s original look is not modified.
This means that the ratio, the spacing as well as the arrangement of the logo must always remain unchanged and may not be individually adjusted for any reason.
The logo of the „pewag“ brand consists of the word „pewag“ and three dots above the brand name.
The claim „STRONG IS NOT ENOUGH“ resembles a stamp and is always used in English. The stamp was purposefully designed to be reminiscent of chain links. The claim is placed close to the logo „pewag“ for two reasons: to immediately call the readers‘ attention to the core activity of the brand and to inform readers about what the name „pewag“ represents.
Below the stamp, the website „www.pewag.com“ is indicated.
Minimum size of the logoTo ensure the logo and claim are legible and recognizable, they must be at least 20 mm wide.If the displayed size is less than 20 mm, the logo is to be used without claim and website.
Variations of the logoDepending on the use, there are a number of different logo variations. It should on principal appear on a white background.
In exceptional cases, the logo may appear on a coloured, dark background. In this case, the „negative version“ will be used.
Additionally, there is also a black and white version.

Logo
Logo with claimThe logo and claim are used in two colours: blue and red.
In black and white documents, the defined black and white version of the logo is used. In exceptional cases, the logo may appear on a coloured, dark background. In this case, the „negative version“ will be used.
In exceptional cases, it is possible to attach the slogan next to the logo. The slogan should be at a distance of 15% of the size of the logo „pewag“ and is measured by „g“. Usage of this form is only permitted after consultation with the advertising department.
The logo was created with a modified and adjusted version of the „Swiss 721 Heavy“ font. For the claim „STRONG IS NOT ENOUGH“, the stamp font „Rubber Stamp LET“ was used. The website „www.pewag.com“ is written in „Swiss 721 Heavy“ font.

ColoursIn the pewag corporate design, two different colours are used as follows:
• „pewag“ logo blue• three dots red• „STRONG IS NOT ENOUGH“ claim red• website red
The colour blue plays the more significant role as it is the preferred corporate colour of the pewag brand. The colour red should be used in moderation. The colour green is to be seen as an option and is only allowed to be used to highlight sections or to emphasize sustainability topics.
In order to ensure that the correct shades are used consistently, the colours are specifically defined.
Important:The provided colour definitions are not mere suggestions but mandatory. In the case of printed materials, they may have to be visually checked against proofs that are guaranteed to conform to the colour definitions. This has to be done before the printing process can commence. Proofs are available in the corporate marketing department.

Font
Logo and corporate fontWhen it comes to printing, the font family Swiss 721 is used in various styles. This font family offers a range of styles making longer texts more diverse and visually organized. The stroke width of the letters is uniform and easy to read and the font is used in all of our printed materials. The different styles to be used are regular, light, medium and bold; italics may only be used in special cases.
Font for correspondence The font for correspondence is the font that should be used for company texts and information materials such as letters, faxes, e-mails, etc. These fonts are available on company computers. pewag defined „Arial“ as its correspondence font. Regular and bold are both acceptable styles. Italics may only be used in special cases.

Brand representation
Brand representation
Brand representationCertain rules apply regarding the representation of the pewag company name and brand. This applies primarily to the way the pewag company name and brand are written as well as where they are placed in the layout of a text.
pewag must always be written in lower case letters, even when placed at the beginning of a sentence.
In the case of pewag products, pewag must at all times be placed before the specific item (e.g., pewag winner or pewag snox). In texts, the brand has to be written in regular font; neither bold nor italics nor capital letters may be used. Just like pewag, all brand names must be written in lower case letters.
If the brand name appears in a blue box, then the pewag logo has to be used (without claim) and the product name must appear in identical font (Swiss 721 Heavy).
Additionally, there is also the option of using the brand logo. In this case, the product name is placed under the pewag logo (without claim).
Should the product name come with an addition such as „suv“ or „pro“, two different guidelines must be followed: in text, the addition must be written next to the brand in regular lower case letters; however, when displayed in the blue box or as part of the logo, capital letters and superscript should be used with tracking reduced by 50%.

Images
The uniform use of images makes the brand more recognizable.
Following this principle, all pewag images must meet the following requirements:• clear, non-blurry images• bright and friendly• dynamic
Product imagesSnow chainsFor each product, four photographs are taken (front, back, tread view, oblique view). These are used differently depending on the layout. The background in all product images is white. Once integrated into the layout, a predefined shadow is added to the area behind the chain.
The focus of the image has to be on the chain, which must be depicted clearly in its entirety. There must not be any large shadows on the chains; all details have to be easy to see. Large shiny areas on the tires are to be avoided.
Depending on the product, additional close-ups of important chain features may be added. In these images, other brand names should not be included in their entirety.
For spare parts, graphic drawings are used.
Technical chains/Tire protection chainsProducts that fall into the categories of sling chains and conveyor chains are depicted as 3D illustrations.
For products in all other categories (choker chains, Do-it-yourself, tire protection chains, etc.), not illustrations but photographs are used.

Brand imagesBrand images go hand in hand with the philosophy of and message behind the pewag brand. For this reason, brand images are primarily used for representing the group as well as for individual company locations.
Depending on their use, brand images range from generic photographs of chains (no product images) to photographs of pewag buildings to production images.
The selection of the ideal brand image is based on the context in which it will be used.

Catalogue images/Category imagesFor our printed materials and catalogues, our images are used in two specifically defined formats (i.e., width to height ratio), which are integrated into the layout.
Cover images: 1:3 Category images: 1:2
Snow chains/Tire protection chainsIn order to create a more neutral effect despite the depiction of vehicles, cover and category images are partially hand drawn. Tires and chains always have to be depicted as photographs whereas the rest of the vehicle is, either partially or in its entirety, depicted as a black- and-white drawing. In exceptional cases (such as tire protection chains or military chains), category images may be used without drawings.
Technical chainsThe product characteristics of technical chains as well as the required image dimensions make it particularly difficult to take photographs of these products in use. For this reason, product images of technical chains are used as cover and category images. Drawings are not incorporated into these photographs. For the category „User information“, the most important steps of testing and mounting the chains are depicted.

Internet
Internet
www.pewag.comThe design of the pewag website is based on the corporate design, which also regulates the visual identity of pewag online.
With the layout systematically divided into different sections, the website is easy to navigate. The most important goal was to design a website that allows users to quickly find all relevant information. For this reason, unnecessary visual effects (e.g., flash animation) were not incorporated.
The used fonts and image sizes are predefined in the CMS system.
Logo: The pewag logo including claim are left-justified and aligned with the tabs box and header image.
Tabs: Company, Products, Branches, News & Press, Career, Contact
Header: pewag brand image
Teaser: According to design and company guidelines, no more than four teasers may appear on the homepage and all country-specific websites. In case there are more than four teasers that need to be published on the website within a short period of time, the teasers have to be switched out.
Footer: On the left side of the footer area, a link to the pewag group website is displayed. On the right side are the following links: Terms & Conditions, Privacy Protection, Imprint, Contact, Sitemap.
Product pages: The product pages consist of introductory texts that are easy to skim for information. Headings and subheadings are predefined and seamlessly integrated into the corporate design. Depending on the product category, a different number of product images is displayed along the right edge of the page. A more detailed product description as well as possible downloads and other information is organized in the tabs below. For some products, the central product features are summarized. There are usually three specific benefits listed here. Pictograms and illustrations of standards are displayed below the product features.

Advertisements
For advertisements in magazines, customer mailings, etc. there are three different models available, which can be used in various formats. Preferred formats are proportional to DIN formats and used either vertically or horizontally. Banners and other narrow formats should be avoided if possible.
In general, all ads with a margin must be outlined using a 0.5 pt line in black.
Image advertisingImage advertising can be used for all areas of pewag including the pewag group and specific product categories.
In the usually white space along the top, the pewag logo is displayed on the right, whereas a maximum of three lines of text in pewag blue are printed on the left. The image has to fill the entire space provided. Integrated into the image is the company website in small, black font and possibly one more slogan (the background of the image permitting).

Product advertisingProduct advertising is specific to each individual product and product category. Depending on the purpose of the advertisement, either the entire product (e.g., the pewag winner lashing chain) or a smaller section of the product is displayed. As with image advertising, the pewag logo is displayed on the right side of the white space and the text is displayed on the left.
In addition to the product image, it is important to also indicate the product name (in combination with the pewag logo) in the blue box. The image may include additional information on the product. Optionally, the company address may be printed on white background in the lower part of the advertisement.
Personnel advertisingJob postings also have to correspond with the corporate design. Here, the pewag logo is placed in the top right cor-ner and the job title is written in a blue box. The text length has to be adjusted to the space available.

Printed materials
Cataloguespewag requires a uniform appearance of all catalogues covering snow chains and technical chains. In general, all printed materials have to be monolingual. The basic organization consists of the following: cover, table of contents, corporate section, category pages, products, and technical information.
The format to be used for catalogues is the DIN A4 portrait format. Covers are printed on Hello Silk (250 g/m2) with a matte film on the outside. The inside pages are printed on Hello Silk (115 g/m2). Furthermore, all pewag catalogues are bound with loop stitching and standard saddle wire stitching.
Cover pagesThe cover image spans three pages: the outside back cover, the outside front cover, and the inside front cover. Image specifications can be found in the Corporate Design Manual in the section on images. The pewag logo is located in the top right corner, the title of the catalogue is written under the logo in blue font and left-aligned. Below the title, a blue box is integrated into the image. This box either indicates the year (in case of snow chains) or a short descriptive statement regarding the product line (in case of technical chains). If necessary, the language, country or important information (e.g., price validity, etc.) can be indicated at the bottom of the cover page.
On the inside front cover, a slogan may be printed in the image. The font should be in either white or blue depending on the image.
On the back of the catalogue, the company address, the EAN code and a unique catalogue number indicating the year and version must be included.
Inside pagesIn general, the chapter title in blue font is indicated in the left side of the header on all pages. On the right page, the pewag logo without claim is located in the top right corner. Pagination is indicated inside a red dot located in either the left or right bottom corner of each page. Next to the page number, the title of the catalogue is indicated in blue font.
Table of contentsOn the first inside page of the catalogue, a preface or an introduction to the products may be provided in theleft column. The table of contents is located in the right column.

CataloguesCorporate sectionThe corporate section covers six pages and begins with the pewag mission statement and principles. Furthermore, the pewag group history, the quality leadership team, the business branches of the pewag group with its compre-hensive and varied products and services, environmental awareness in all areas, and the production and retail sites are described. Finally, the reader is made aware of the company‘s internet presence. In case there isn‘t enough space, the corporate section can be shortened to four pages.
Category pagesThe category pages always span over two pages and serve as an introduction to each chapter. The table of contents for the chapter is located on the left category page.On the right category page, the pewag logo without claim is printed in the top right corner. The category title is located under the logo and left-adjusted. Integrated into the image is a blue box, which may include further descriptions or additional information.
Product pagesThe product pages in the catalogue on snow chains differ from those on technical chains.
For snow chains, there is an introductory page for each product area. This starts with a description and is followed by a matrix comparing all chains from this area. On the right page, the individual products are introduced. The brand and product name are indicated in logo form in the blue box. Below the box and in one column, the headings are printed in blue, the introductory text in black font and the product descriptions in black as well. In the right column, the oblique view of the chain with predefined shadows is placed on a blue line. To its right, product details are included in a rectangular close-up. Below the blue line, the compatible tires, packaging and certification marks are indicated in pictograms.
Spare parts are listed in tables spanning the entire type area. Graphic drawings of the spare parts are included in the table.
The „Contrast and compare“ section covers the entire type area and lists the different chains. This makes it easy to compare products. At the top of the table, oblique views of the chains are included.

Mounting instructionsSnow chainsMounting instructions for snow chains are divided into two categories:• Snow chains for passenger cars and 4x4 vehicles• Snow chains for trucks and larger vehicles
For passenger cars and 4x4 vehicles, drawings illustrate the mounting procedure without text. The images for the mounting and dismounting of the product are visually separated in the layout. Additionally, guidelines in several languages are provided at the bottom of the instructions. The language is indicated in a red rectangle with the language code written in white letters.
The mounting instructions are printed horizontally on foil in DIN A1 format. In exceptional cases, they may also be printed on paper.
In the case of chains for trucks and larger vehicles, the mounting procedure is illustrated on photographs and described in a text. In order to keep the instructions multilingual, the mounting instruction images are numbered; as are the corresponding monolingual descriptions provided below. The language code is indicated in blue fields towards the bottom of the page. Additionally, guidelines on repairs, etc. are provided. In the case of more comprehensive explanations, the images and corresponding text are placed next to each other and the entire layout is repeated in the different languages.
The mounting instructions are printed horizontally in DIN A5 format; the paper is bound with saddle stitching. On the cover page of the mounting instructions, a partial view of the chain mounted on a tire is depicted. The text is kept monolingual.
In all mounting instructions, the mounting instructions number (e.g., MA/00455) as well as the EAN and item number must be included.

Excerpt of mounting instructions for snow chains for trucks and larger vehicles
39pewag Corporate Design Manual

Printed materials for the packaging
Mounting instructionsTechnical chainsIn the area of technical chains, mounting instructions are necessary for mounting hanging components. These instructions are also illustrated with drawings and printed on paper. Formats vary depending on the packaging size.
Tire protection chainsSimilar to snow chains for trucks, mounting instructions for tire protection chains are illustrated with images. Because of extensive explanations, these illustrations are paired with descriptive texts; the entire layout is then repeated in the different languages. The warnings and usage instructions are integrated into the mounting instructions manual.
The cover page is monolingual and carries an image of chains. Because of the vast amount of information, a table of contents is provided for the mounting instructions for tire protection chains. For this reason, pages are numbered.
In all mounting instructions, the mounting instructions number (e.g., MA/00455) as well as the EAN and item number must be included.

Single chain:Close the inside and outside chain and the center tread with hooks (for 16, 18 and 21 mm with pin locks). In case of hooks with securing device, rotate oval end ring by 90°, thread it up at the ring flattening and rotate it back. Please take notice of the colour markings!
Tighten the tension chain until the chain closely fits on the tire. Secure the tension chain with the locking plate. Fasten the tension chain end with a shackle. The chain is correctly tensioned if the tension chain can still be pulled approx. 10 cm off the tire.

Main labelSnow chainsThe size and material of the main labels vary depending on the type of packaging; insert labels, stickers as well as sleeves are used.
Depending on the packaging, one to two labels are required (front and back), both of which have a separate main label number assigned to them. This number must be included on the label (e.g., HE/00340).
In the case of premium products, only the name of the chain, a close-up of the chain and the most important text in no more than two languages are printed on the front of the packaging. On the back of the product, all additional information regarding the chain (provided in different languages), the most important steps of the mounting process and the certification logos (TÜV, ÖNORM incl. registration number, ATEST etc.) are included.
In the case of basic products, on the front, the entire chain is depicted, close-ups of the most important characteristics are included, the product name is indicated in a blue box and the most important features (in no more than 2 languages) are provided. On the back, the information is listed in several languages.
In addition to these options, some chains only have one main label (on the front). Of course, all certification logos must be included on this label.

DIY info card For the pewag DIY product line, info cards made of cardboard were developed. Printed on these cards are illustrations that serve as both product depictions and descriptions.
The illustration is black and white and graphics are kept very simple. For additional information (e.g., the warning „Do not lift“, etc.), small square pictograms are printed on the card. The info cards are white, however, in the case of stainless products, the keyword „Inox“ (pictogram) and a blue bar along the bottom edge are added. The item number is located near the bottom edge of the card.
On the back of the card, the EAN, our website and concise additional information (product quantity in the box/bag, etc.) are indicated by the supplier.
In the upper part, the card has a hole for hanging; in the lower part, three holes are punched so products can be attached to the card.
DIY sleeves For ropes and similar items, sleeves with a uniform design are used. The sleeves carry the image representative of the „DIY“ category and can be adjusted to the width of the product.
A label with product-specific information is attached to the sleeve. Similar to the info card, these labels include product information in the form of pictograms, our website and the EAN.

Certification marks
Certification marks
Certification marks show the high quality of our work and our products. For marketing purposes, these certification marks may be included online and on printed documents.
A certification mark is also a logo and therefore subject to the same rules as, for example, the pewag logo.It is very important to never change the ratio, spacing, or arrangement of the logo!
Depending on where and how the certification marks will be used, different logos are available. On principle, all versions appear on white background.
In addition to the coloured version, there is usually also a black and white version as well as a version for dark backgrounds.
TÜVMany of our products undergo the TÜV certification process and the pewag companies are also TÜV- and ISO-certified.
The logo of TÜV Süd consists of a blue octagon and the words „TÜV Süd“ written in the white centre. A white horizontal line goes through the middle of the octagon. The logo is available in a regular 2D version but also in 3D. For packaging and product illustrations, we only use the 2D version of the logo.
On certification logos for products, the phrase „Production monitored, Safety tested“ is printed at the bottom of the blue octagon, and the letter „S“ with circular arrows is included at the top of the octagon. The certification mark is available in English and German.
Regarding company certifications, the ISO-standards are printed in the top and bottom part of the octagon.

Certification marks
ÖNORMThis Austrian certification mark is included on all ÖNORM-certified products. The logo was created in accordance with guidelines provided by the Austrian Standards Institute and has to be used in line with the conditions regarding the use of the certificate. According to ÖNORM, the outline and text of the certification mark has to be kept in black, blue, red or white depending on the background colour. We primarily use the black and white versions.
Make sure the logo is never distorted!
The different components of the certification mark are the ÖNORM symbol placed in the centre of a square logo with black outline. Under the mark, the word „GEPRÜFT“ (tested) is printed in capital letters. Above the ÖNORM mark, the number of the standard is indicated.
When used on packaging, the ÖNORM registration number also must be indicated.
ATESTThe Czech certification mark consists of the word „ATEST“ and a certification number inside a square with black outline. Use this certification mark in either black or white, or use the negative version.
MDNThe Slovakian certification mark is similar to the ATEST logo but rectangular.Use this certification mark in either black or white, or use the negative version.
