MAGNETICBRAKING SYSTEM

This patented Centrifugal Braking System is completely self-con-tained. The brakes are locked within a containment plate that still allows the angler to adjust the number of brakes to have on or off. This braking system is shipped with 6 brakes on or “engaged” providing maximum braking from the centrifugal braking system. The primary function of the centrifugal brake system is to control spool speed and prevent backlash at the beginning of the cast when the spool RPM’s are the greatest. The brake weights can easily be locked or “disengaged” for a faster spool rotation to maximize your casting distance.

The Pflueger magnetic braking system utilizes a set of magnets that affect the rotation of the spool. The closer the magnets are to the spool, the slower it will spin. Our reels with this feature use an adjust-able dial on the side plate to pull the magnets away from the spool and allow the spool to spin at higher RPM’s. The design behind this feature gives a fisherman the ability to adjust the magnets to allow for increased casting distances. The ability to pull the magnets away from the spool offers minimal resistance while turning the handle and spin-ning the spool. Once the angler sets the magnetic braking system to their individual needs, the magnets take over and deliver the ability to make those long, accurate casts without backlash.

Both braking systems work in conjunction with each other to provide the ultimate casting experience. The high speed reel offers one of the highest gear ratio’s on the market today at 7.1:1, giving you the ultimate retrieving perfor-mance. Higher gear ratios allows more line onto the spool with less effort.

Magnesium body and rotor creates a reel that is extremely light in weight. While the magnesium is lightweight, it is also a super strong metal that can easily withstand torquing, which keeps all the inner components in line and working smoothly. The weight also allows the angler to fish with this reel cast after cast and show very little arm fatigue, making it possible to fish longer.

Look for this symbol for new micro size baitcast reels. These reels are lightweight and easy to handle, but are heavyweights when it comes to landing fish. These reels do not compromise when it comes to internal parts--they have everything that the bigger reels have, except the size and weight. They are the per-fect size reels when using lighter action rods.

Our bigwater reels are not just bigger versions of other reels. They come in various sizes and have been engineered to handle the rigors of saltwater fishing. They have corrosion-resistant internal parts that can stand up to the pressure that comes from handling large fish in less-than-perfect conditions. The reels have larger handles for fighting, as well as durable frames that resist torquing. The oversized and durable drag systems on these reels are designed to allow the fisherman to control the fish and land it without any malfunction.

Metal frames are precision-crafted to assure all the moving parts are in line and functioning smoothly. The frames have higher tolerances in production, so that when the reel is assem-bled, each moving part fits precisely without extra play. This makes reeling in smoother and causes less stress and wear on the internal components of the reel.

The FREE Magnetic braking system utilizes the dial on the side plate to pull the magnets away from the spool to allow the spool to spin at higher RPM’s. The design behind this feature gives a fisherman more ability to adjust the magnets to allow for increased casting distances. The average spool spin time on a conventional magnetic cast control is around the 6 second mark. With the FREE magnetic braking system the spool spin time is over 10 seconds.

The shields fit between the inner and outer races and provide protection to the bearings by prevent-ing dirt and grit from settling in the race area. These bearings can be made out of chrome or stainless steel.

One-Way Clutch Bearing

Both sides of these bearings are fully sealed with a polymer cover between inner and outer races. These seals protect the ball bearings by keeping lubrication in and by keeping dirt, debris and mois-ture out. Sealed bearings are normally placed in key locations most likely to be subject to exposure from the elements. These types of ball bearing are normally made out of stainless steel.

Open bearings are easy to identify because the small metal balls are visible from either side of the bearing. These bearings are normally located deep within the reel in areas where exposure to salt, moisture or the elements is unlikely. If the bearing description does not specify ‘sealed’ or ‘shielded’, they are most likely ‘opened’.

Also known as a ‘one-way clutch’ or ‘instant anti-reverse’, the clutch bearing consists of a number of needle bearings which turn in one direction only. With traditional dog and ratchet style anti-reverse systems the angler experiences some back play in the rotor or handle. The amount of back play depends on the number of teeth on the ratchet -- the more teeth the less back play. With a clutch bearing there is no back play which delivers faster, more solid hook sets. Stainless needle spring for cold temperatures.

Stainless steel bearingsNot every stainless steel is the same. Pflueger only uses the hardest stainless steel material for its bearings. Other then superior hard-ness, the stainless steel bearings also have good corrosion resis-tance properties.

Chrome steel bearingsThe combination of low cost and superior hardness of this material makes it the most common material choice for ball bearings.
