From the Chairman’s desk

First of all, apologies for the lack of newsletters in 2017 but we are now back on track and I will bring you up to speed with all the news and results in this March 2017 edition. As you are aware, as usual, we did not hold a club meeting in January but have since held the February and March 2017 club meetings. The February meeting was attended by 11 members, including Hennie and Peter Heetman from The Netherlands and the images were judged remotely by Darryl Beneke from the Hibiscus Photographic Club. The set-subject was “Rainy Days” and only 27 images were submitted. No “Merits” were awarded but Darryl awarded 9 “Golds” and provided detailed com-ments on each image. The best junior image was awarded to Johan van Niekerk for his image “Barcelona” in the open cat-egory and the best senior image was awarded to Mark Gillie for his image “The Force in Action” which was also in the open category. Well done to both our winners. The March meeting held last Thursday evening was attended by 9 members an 2 guests and was judged remotely by Nor-ma Hush from the Bluff Camera Club. The set-subject for the month was “Hands & Feet” and a total of 46 images were submitted, an improvement on the previous month but by no means a record month. Norma who awarded a total of 4 “Merits” and 17 “Golds” gave written feedback on all the images. The “Best Junior Image” for the month was awarded to Karl Horngren his image “Home time” and the “Best Senior Image” for the month was awarded to Pam Beaty for her image “Double exposure Palms” . Well done to both our winners. As usual, our club’s winning images for March will be entered in the PSSA Best Club Winning Image Competition and all the club results and images, together with comments from the judge, can be viewed on our club website. Special congratulations go to Mark Gillie who has been promoted from a 5 Star to a Master Bronze— well deserved Mark. The set subject for the coming month is “Low Angle” and we need your participation in submitting your images by mid-

night on Monday, 3rd April 2017. The results will announced at the next club meeting which will be held on Thursday, 13th

April 2017.

Remember that all images must be uploaded in the sizing for HD format see page 6 for more details.

We have a number of competitions on the go at the moment, two of which come to an end in April, and we urgently need

your support.

The KZN PSSA Interclub Competition which is currently running and will close for members submissions on Thursday 27th

April 2017. Details on the rules are set out on page 5

The PSSA Up & Coming Competition run by the PSSA, which is available to 1 star to 3 star club members is also currently

on the go and details are available on page 4. This competition is designed to introduce club members to the Salon submis-

sion procedure. There is no charge and PGCC will award you much sought after salon acceptance points for each of your

images that qualify as an acceptance in the competition. The closing date for this competition is Saturday, 29th April 2017

The annual PGCC/DCC Interclub Challenge between our club and the Durban Camera Club is also open and details of the

rules and topics for this challenge are available on page 5.

We are also looking for images from you to feature in our clubs “one page” presentation in KZN’s Mercury Saturday edition.

the “Independent on Saturday” . This is a good opportunity to showcase our club in the local paper. See the require-

ments on page 3. The closing date for submission is midnight on Thursday, 6th April 2017.

And finally Prince’s Grant will be sponsoring a photographic competition to promote Prince’s Grant, with a great prize for

the winning image. The competition will be open to all KZN clubs and full details will be forthcoming shortly.

There is plenty for members to do over the next few months so lets get those images in !
