BUSINESS NEWS
Layoffs are a fact of corporate life as compa-nies grapple with economic cycles and global competi-tion. If you get caught in a corporate downsizing and you are not immediately moving to a new employer, you generally have three options for your retirement plan assets:
1. Leave your money in the existing plan.
2. Take a cash or “lump sum” distribution.

C a m p b e l l s v i l l e University hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Farmers National Bank Community Walking Trail at the Conover Education Center on Wednesday, May 24.
“Where we are today, is not where we will be tomorrow,” said Wes Carter, regional director for devel-opment and church outreach.
“It has taken far more than just the collective efforts of Campbellsville University and its staff. It has taken a community, indi-vidual clubs, state represen-tatives, senators and Farmers National Bank, who believe in us and in our mission.”
The community walk-ing trail circles the Conover Education Center located, at 1150 Danville Road, Harrodsburg.
“Congratulations to Campbellsville University on the amazing success in such a short period of time,” Greg Caudill, CEO of Farmers National Bank, said.
C a u d i l l s a i d Campbellsville University will help this region to grow by providing valuable edu-cation in Harrodsburg.
“We are very pleased to be here at Mercer County. According to our demo-graphic analysis, we have
students studying here from seven different counties,” Dr. Michael V. Carter said.
Father Al Degiacomo of Saint Andrews Catholic Church ended the ceremony with a closing prayer.
Conover Education Center is in the initial stage for the property expansion with a new building in the near future, Carter said, with construction beginning in about four-six weeks.
C a m p b e l l s v i l l e University is Kentucky-
based Christian univer-sity with more than 5,000 students offering over 80 programs of study includ-ing 19 master’s degrees, six postgraduate areas and seven pre-professional programs. The university has off-campus centers in Louisville, Harrodsburg, Somerset and Hodgenville with instructional sites in Elizabethtown, Owensboro and Summersville and a full complement of online programs. Corning Incorporated announced Friday, June 2, 2017, that Corning Gorilla Glass 5, Corning’s toughest cover glass yet, has been cho-sen as the cover material for the Essential Phone.
Launched earlier this week, the Essential Phone features a three-sided, border-less display with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 cover. This is the fi rst device from Essential Products, a newly formed company founded by Andy Rubin, the cofounder of Android.
“We are pleased to col-laborate with Andy and the team at Essential as they launch their fi rst smartphone device. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 delivers the best-in-class drop performance for their new smartphone,” said John Bayne, vice president and general manager, Corning Gorilla Glass.
“As one of the primary
architects of the Android operating system, Andy has had a major impact on the smartphone ecosystem. We see Essential’s choice of Corning as a supplier – and Gorilla Glass 5 as a key material – as a clear indica-tion of the advantage of our products, our brand and the value we bring to industry innovators like Essential.”
“One of the founding principles of Essential is to deliver premium materials and craftsmanship and the best technology experienc-es to millions. To develop our new phone, we chose to work with the glass experts at Corning to bring the drop performance and damage resistance of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to our customer base,” said Andy Rubin, chief executive offi cer, Essential Products, Inc.
Corning’s lab tests show that Gorilla Glass 5 survives
drops onto rough, unfor-giving surfaces up to four times better than competi-tive glass designs. Customers are adopting Corning Gorilla Glass 5 at a rate two times faster than earlier versions of Gorilla Glass over the same time period.
