Excipients for semi-solid applications
Veterinary drugs are often administered in semi-solid dosage forms because
of their superior applicability and are used either in topical or oral products.
Examples are creams, ointments, pastes, emulsions, pour-on, and spot-
on formulations. Pour-on formulations are particularly common. Such
formulations require vigorous control of spreading and skin penetration
properties.
